I had a great experience with my dog sitter, Katherine who looked after my dog for two days. From the start, they were friendly, reliable, and clearly experienced with dogs. They took the time to understand my dog’s routine and made sure he was comfortable and well cared for. I really appreciated the regular updates and photos—it gave me peace of mind knowing my dog was happy and in good hands. When I returned, he was relaxed, well-exercised, and clearly had been given lots of attention and care. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter, and I’ll definitely be booking with them again.

I couldn't be more pleased with Kim. Alfie is a very nervous, fiesty, Jack Russell but Kim was brilliant with him, slowly winning his trust in a very calm way. They are now the best of friends! I will definitely be booking Kim again to dog and house sit, I can highly recommend her, thank you Kim! ?

Conor was amazing with our little doggie! He stayed over with her while we were away. We received regular updates from him which really put our minds at rest as Aspen is a very anxious dog. He also treated our house with respect and left it as he found it. It’s hard to leave your pets if you have to go away, but we would highly recommend him anytime! Excellent service and amazing with our dog.

About: I have owned dogs my whole life, I currently have 4 beautiful samoyeds who I have raised since they were puppies. I trained them all myself and have made them comfortable enough on a lead that they can now go to dog shows (one of my dogs Lola actually went to crufts last year with her impeccable skills on a lead). I have had experience with senior dogs also, my little staffy bluey only recently passed this Jan and her age and medical conditions meant she required extra care, which I provided daily. Whenever my family or friends go on holiday I am always the first person they ask to sit for them as they know I adore animals and will provide their furry friend with the correct care and treatment they need. I currently work full time (37.5 hours a week) at Russell’s hall hospital. My hours can vary but I will only work 7.5 hours a day so will always have time to fit a walk into my schedule. I have a fenced off back garden and have 4 dogs of my own to keep your furry friend company. I do also have a crate for if your dog is crate trained and is happier to sleep in a crate

About: I am someone who enjoys helping people and sharing ideas. I like learning new things and turning thoughts into simple words so others can understand them easily. I really love cats because they are calm, cute and full of personality. Cats can be playful but also very peaceful. I like how they sit quietly near you and make you feel relaxed. I once had a cat who was very curious and playful. It liked to follow me around the house and sometimes sit next to me while I was sleeping. It also loved sleeping in warm places. Having that cat made me very happy because it was a friendly and comforting companion That is why cats are special to me . They are loving, gentle and always bring a little joy to everyday life.

About: Since moving out with my partner, leaving behind my family cat (Lola, 9) and golden Lab (Riley, 5) I am missing them very much (despite seeing them weekly still). I would love to spend more time with your pet, taking them for walks, playing and cuddling on the sofa. I have experience looking after other peoples dogs of different breeds (for example staffy, cocker spaniel, mini daschund) for varying periods of time, looking after a lovely cocker spaniel in January 2026 for a week. I am able to walk any dogs whether on or off the lead if they have good recall, and able to wash/shower pets appropriately. I currently work full time - but this is split between uni and actual work days. I have uni days where I work from home all day, and never work weekends. I will care for your pet as my own, ensuring any guidance given is followed correctly to make sure each pet and their individual needs are met.

About: As a lifelong animal lover, I do care for every dog/cat as if they were my own. I provide personalised attention, from tailored diets to playful park runs and soothing grooming sessions. I understand that every dog is unique, and I’m committed to ensuring their happiness, comfort, and wellbeing. Building trust and creating meaningful bonds with the pets I care for brings me joy, and I dedicate myself fully to making sure they feel loved and secure. Taking care of our best friends is more than a job to me—it is what fulfills my soul. Each walk, grooming session, or playful moment makes me the happiest person ever and brings a sense of purpose. Knowing that I’m making a dog/cat feel happy, safe, and loved is what drives me. It’s not just about taking care of them, it’s about building a bond that makes us both happy. This work enriches my life, and I’m fully dedicated to every little friend I meet. Currently, I’m not working as I’m looking for a position in research, so my schedule is very open. Aside from reading and exercising, I have plenty of time to dedicate to caring for dogs. Being around them would bring me so much happiness, as it reminds me of my own dog and cats back home, whom I miss deeply. This opportunity fits perfectly into my routine and would help fill that gap by allowing me to share my love for animals. I normally exercise at 7-8am and then prepare my meals, I go to the park to read, I also stay at home those windy and rainy days. I have three parks next to home. I have a fence yard, but since I do not have a dog/cat, we barely use it. However, there is plenty of space for our little friend. Also I have a bag that I used to take my dog when he was a baby. I have 2 roommates who are lovely, they occasionally are at home but basically is just me during the day.

About: I have grown up with many types of dogs including German shepherds, Staffys, Pit bulls, Cane corsos, Dachshund, French bulldogs, Pugs, Labradoodles, and a few others. I have taken care of many of my family and friend’s pets over the years and recently took care of an energetic chihuahua and cat for two weeks in their own home. I have always had a love for animals and currently own a Cornsnake, Cat, and a blind french bulldog. I am currently unemployed so this means that I am available most of the time and very flexible. I am currently searching for a job but we can work our schedules around that when the time comes. I offer ‘in your own home’ care, this allows for the pet to feel comfortable in their own space and you let me know whats needed and I will get it done for you. I do not offer services for in my own home, but if it was ever needed I have a medium sized garden that is half slabbed and half grass. My garden is fully secure with no way to escape and I also own a large crate if it was needed for your type of dog.

Katherine very kindly agreed to pet sit for me saving me from cancelling a large family gathering in Dorset. She sent me frequent updates which gave me peace of mind. My dog loves her and chows are very tight with their affection - but a tail wag is a tail wag! My cat is always elusive but he made an appearance too. My instructions were followed and she left my home in excellent condition. I wouldn’t hesitate to rebook or recommend her services to others. Thank you Katherine! ⭐️

Glenda was absolutely fantastic, and we could not be happier with the care she gave Peanut and Snoopy while staying in our home for the weekend. She was punctual, extremely communicative and followed all of our instructions carefully. She sent us plenty of updates and lovely photos throughout the week, which really put our minds at ease while we were away. In every photo they looked completely comfortable with Glenda, with their tails up and clearly enjoying her company. It is obvious that she has a genuine gift with animals and understands them very well. She also went above and beyond what we expected by leaving the house incredibly clean and tidy, which we really appreciated. When we returned, both dogs were very happy, relaxed and in great condition. Glenda is kind, trustworthy and extremely reliable. We will definitely continue using her in the future and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent pet sitter.

FAQs for House Sitting - Sandwell

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Sandwell on Rover is £34.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,372 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sandwell. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Sandwell walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sandwell choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
