“Elaine was so good with my pup Jax, would highly recommend and sent photos which reassured me leaving him especially for the 1st time (that's not a family member). And her Dog is such a wee Gem 😊. Will definitely be using her service again. Thanks so much for everything.”

“Hello! We love when Grace and Joe can host Poppy. She always comes back super happy and has had a great time. They are really flexible and have often helped us out when time is short, we've agreed a way to make it work with pick up and drop off times. Poppy gets to hang with their doggos who are super sweet. I would be happy to let them look after Poppy again.”

“Sharleen was really amazing! An amazing sitter, cared for Radish so much and I couldn’t have wished for a better person to care for her. Highly recommend, radish will be back !!! Xxx THANK YOU”

“Isla and Michael were fantastic! You can tell they really love caring for dogs and they went above and beyond with DD our 11 yr old French bulldog. They made sure she was well looked after, played with her constantly and took her on regular walks. We are delighted to have found someone we trust with our four-legged friend and will be using them again without hesitation.”

“Leah was brilliant with Vinnie kept me updated through the day with loads of pictures of Vinnie having a great time with his new friends this made me very comfortable knowing Vinnie was in good hands . I would book Leah again and recommend her to my friends .”

“Matthew and Jenna were absolutely fantastic with Rí. Communication before and during his visit was fantastic and I was kept up to date with all his activities- Rí made plenty of visits to the beach which is his favourite! They really treated him like their own and Rí was very happy with them, and sad to leave them. He’ll definitely be back ☺️”

“Danielle allowed me to feel very at ease leaving my 16 year old sheepdog with her. We met first and I was impressed by her knowledge and comfort with my dog, but could also tell she’s a true dog lover herself, which was so reassuring. She sent lots of pics during my dog’s stay and periodic updates which I really appreciated! I’d definitely leave Sjena with her again and easily recommend her to others 👍👍”

“We are delighted with the level of care provided by Ed to Bella & Benny. Being older dogs, I was cautious to find someone with experience who could provide a safe and friendly environment - this is exactly what they received. I was able to switch off and relax, knowing my furbabies were in very capable hands. Thank you both so much, we really appreciate it and hope you'll welcome them back again.”

“Sonia was fabulous. My dog was a bit stressed as she’s never been away from the family for this long but Sonia was very attentive and loving and took great care of her and it was clear when I went for pickup that Fiadh loved being with her. I would have no hesitation in booking Sonia again.”

Matthew was superb and his communication was fantastic. It’s really reassuring knowing Wrigley was getting minded by Matthew as he was great with him as he provided us with updates. I don’t think Wrigley wanted to leave! I’d definitely recommend Matthew to anyone who is looking for their dog to be looked after!

It was our first time leaving our fur baby with someone for an extended period of time (13 nights) and we were apprehensive…but Chelsea was beyond the perfect dog sitter! She kept in constant contact with us during Rudi’s stay with her - updates/messages and fun pics. Rudi clearly enjoyed himself and loved Chelsea! We would 100% recommend her and will definitely be using her services again!

No problems giving Charley 5 ⭐️ for her love and care for Austin on his stay. From our meet & greet we knew Austin would be happy and well looked after, giving me great peace of mind leaving him. Charley managed Austin’s daily medication and high maintenance hygiene routine perfectly. My boy was absolutely immaculate at pick up. Also to note a last minute issue lead to an extra night of care which Charley accommodated so kindly. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thank you Charley ❤️

A second successful stay for Maisie at Paul’s. This time an overnight. When we arrived, Maisie ran up to greet Paul, tail wagging and looking for cuddles. Just lovely to see and very telling. Paul kept me updated with videos, photos, and written updates, which was really reassuring. Maisie was relaxed and happy when I picked her up. Thank you, Paul. And no doubt we will see you again soon.

Our dog is full of energy and can be a bit anxious about anything new. Niall and Henrique both welcome him into their home and I can't speak highly enough about the care they gave him. I was worried about leaving our dog for such a long time while on a family holiday but they gave regular updates with photos and videos which provided reassurance that he was happy. When we came to collect him it was clear had bonded with them and was contented. I would highly recommend them and would be happy to trust my dog with them again.

Massive thanks to Niall for looking after Dougal at short notice after another sitter let us down Communication from the outset was brilliant. Dougal stayed for 8 days with Niall and his dog Nelly. Niall stuck to Dougals routine and sent updates with pictures everyday. Dougal came back well looked after. Niall thank you for taking such good care of him. I'll definitely book again and would highly recommend 👌

Patricia is a very kind, responsible and caring sitter that my rescue dog loved her. She responded my messages quickly and shared photos and videos while I was away. I appreciate her communication and gentle approach. She is a real dog friend, and a great person. I highly recommend her 🩷🫶 Thank you for looking after my dog as if she were your own. It really means a lot to me. 💐

Lily Rose looked after my Maltese for a week and she was absolutely brilliant! My dog is quite nervous and timid so I was initially quite worried but Lily Rose knew exactly how to help her settle in! Lily Rose provided me with regular updates on how Bonnie was doing which helped me to feel at ease as well! Bonnie was content and happy the whole week thanks to the amount of care and attention Lily Rose provided her. I would 100% recommend Lily Rose as she can cater for each dog's specific needs and personality, and Bonnie and I hope to see her again!

Eddie was so great with Daisy! We had no worries at all about her welfare while we were away and knew she was being looked after as one of the family. Great updates throughout our holiday and it was clear that Daisy was getting on very well with Eddie's own dog, Winston. We've never left daisy for as long as we did this time but Eddie made it easy!

Ollie and Meg have just come home after spending 10 wonderful days with Beth and Aisling, and we honestly couldn’t be happier with the care they received. Leaving them was something we were quite anxious about, especially as they’re older dogs, but Beth and Aisling made the whole experience so easy. From the very beginning, they kept us updated with lovely photos and messages, which gave us so much reassurance and allowed us to truly relax while we were away. It’s so clear how much they genuinely love dogs. Ollie and Meg were cared for with so much kindness, patience, and affection—it really felt like they were treated as part of the family rather than just being looked after. They came home happy, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for, which says everything. We feel incredibly lucky to have found Beth and Aisling and honestly couldn’t recommend them highly enough. If you’re looking for someone who will love and care for your dogs as if they were their own, you won’t find better. Thank you both so much for taking such amazing care of our two!

Highly recommend Caitlin and Andrew to look after your dog. Bobby settled in very quickly and they clearly lavished him with care and attention during his stay. Great communication in sharing photos to reassure us all was well. We would definitely use Caitlin again.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Northern Ireland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
