“Anabela was absolutely amazing with Douglas, she was so patient with him and the updates on Douglas every single day along with photos made me feel more relaxed knowing he was having the best time with her & her family! I would definitely recommend Anabela. Couldn’t thank her enough for looking after Douglas x”

“Winnie had an amazing time at Maeve’a house with her golden retriever, Wrigley. Maeve kept me updated on how Winnie was doing (including pictures and videos!) and so I was more than reassured that she was in good hands, and she looked so happy and content! Thank you again Maeve for looking after Winnie, and at such short notice. Would 100% use Maeve again for future bookings.”

About: Hi! We’re Andy and Caitlin — lifelong animal lovers and experienced pet owners who know that pets aren’t just pets, they’re family. Caitlin has an older cockapoo named Bobby, and Andy has grown up with large breeds, including a St. Bernard and a Bernese Mountain Dog/Collie mix, so we’re comfortable with dogs of all shapes and personalities. While we’d love to walk and spend time with big dogs, our home is best suited for small to medium-sized pups right now. We’re both extremely caring and affectionate — expect plenty of cuddles, playtime, and company for your furry friend. In our home, pets are welcome on the sofa, and yes, they’re more than welcome to curl up on the bed too! Your pet will be treated like one of our own, with lots of love and attention while you’re away. 🐾 We both work a hybrid week — three days in the office and two from home — which means there’s always someone around during weekdays, especially for drop-ins, walks, or day care. Weekends are completely free, and we love spending them outdoors running, taking long walks, or relaxing in dog-friendly spots (often with a pint of Guinness in hand!). We’re happy to fit pet care around our flexible routine and make sure your furry friend gets plenty of love, exercise, and attention throughout the week. 🐾 We live in a safe, peaceful area with plenty of nearby green spaces and dog parks — perfect for walks and playtime. As lifelong animal lovers, we’re both naturally caring, attentive, and careful people, especially when it comes to looking after pets. We understand how important it is to meet each dog’s individual needs — from exercise and feeding routines to cuddles and quiet time. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always our top priorities, and we’ll treat them with the same love and attention we give our own. ❤️🐶
“Parker is contently sleeping away after his stay with Emma and Cody. Emma was amazing with Parker from his meet and greet to the updates sent through while he stayed with her”

“Rocky had a great time and was really well looked after during his stay. Lots of good walks and Natalie sent loads of great photos to let us know how he was getting on. Would definitely recommend.”

“Winston stayed with Niall and Henrique for the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed his stay. Winston has some behavioural issues which need carefully managed and also takes medication. These were no problem for Niall and Henrique and they sent us regular pupdates of how Winston was doing. I’d highly recommend their services and will be rebooking in the future.”

“Lisa was fab! Really flexible and great communication and updates throughout Edie’s stay. She was very well looked after by Lisa and seemed very at home when I collected her. Would 100% recommend Lisa!”

“Bailey had a great stay with Jamie, he was treated like family. Bailey is an elderly Shi Tzu with some funny quirks but Jamie took it all in his stride! He sent me updates every day and that was very reassuring. Can't recommend this dog sitter highly enough, will definitely be booking again.”

About: There’s honestly no better company than a happy dog. I’ve had dogs for most of my life, growing up with Golden Retrievers and later sharing my life with my beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Nanook. After losing Nanook a few years ago, I was lucky enough to welcome Koda into my family, and my love for dogs has only grown stronger. I started Paws at Home Belfast because I genuinely love having dogs around—not just for me, but for Koda too, who enjoys making new four-legged friends. As a dog owner myself, I know how difficult it can be to leave your best friend behind. The thought of them spending their time in a kennel can be stressful, and it’s natural to worry whether they’ll feel comfortable and happy while you’re away. That’s why I wanted to create a true home-from-home experience where dogs can relax, feel safe, and be treated as part of the family. When your dog stays with us, they become part of the household. They’ll enjoy comfy places to snooze, regular walks, plenty of attention and affection, and a secure fenced garden where they can explore, play, and sniff to their heart’s content. I keep things calm, clean, and fun, ensuring every dog receives the care, companionship, and routine they’re used to. We’re conveniently located just a five-minute walk from local playing fields, a dedicated dog park, and the local veterinary practice, giving your dog plenty of opportunities for exercise, enrichment, and safe adventures during their stay. I work from home two days each week on a rotating schedule, which allows me to provide plenty of attention and supervision throughout the day. One week I work from home on Tuesday and Thursday, and the following week on Monday and Friday, alternating on a bi-weekly basis. I am also available on weekends, giving me flexibility for dog sitting, boarding, and daycare. I always aim to accommodate owners' needs where possible and will keep my availability calendar up to date. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. When boarding in my home, I provide a calm, welcoming environment where dogs can feel relaxed and cared for while they’re away from their family. I take the time to get to know each dog’s routine, personality, and individual needs, making sure they receive the right balance of walks, playtime, attention, and rest. I follow all owner instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, medication, exercise requirements, and any special preferences. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet, so I’ll keep you updated with messages and photos throughout their stay. My goal is to make every dog feel comfortable, safe, and loved while they’re in my care.
“Our pup Kiwi was really well looked after. Fiona sent regular updates and it was very reassuring to have met her beforehand and let Kiwi get a sniff about the new environment. We would highly recommend Fiona, and she'll be top of the list for our next trip away.”

About: I’ve looked after a lot of different dogs (mostly for family and friends) over the years, and also have had cats and dogs of my own. I love animals and enjoy looking after and spoiling them. I’m very flexible with different routines and temperaments, and have experience looking after anxious dogs, including my own rescue in the past. I’m currently working part time on the weekends (usually 10am-4pm) and am in university during the academic year (I’m usually only ever occupied by uni until 1pm during the week). I live with my parents and my younger brother so there’s usually someone at home if I’m at work. I have a fenced garden in a quiet, animal-friendly area. I also live near multiple dog-friendly parks. I have an antisocial but otherwise friendly outdoor cat who will happily stay out of the way of any new animals in the house. My household is relatively quiet and has lots of room to roam around or play.

“Elaine and her family provided brilliant care for our dog Boo who clearly loved his stay. Elaine provided us with lots of updates and photos and we felt completely comfortable that Boo was having his own little holiday at the same time we were as well. We would certainly recommend Elaine for dog sitting and will definitely be taking Boo back to stay again. Richard & Susan”

“Samantha was amazing, from start to finish. She was super flexible when it came to arranging pick ups and drop offs. We received regular updates and photos throughout the stay and when Cora developed a health condition, Samantha was straight on to us about it. She was so vigilant and caring and brought Cora straight to the vet, which was so reassuring with us being so far away. I would highly recommend Samantha as a pet sitter. Thank you Samantha 🙏🏻 🙏🏻🙏🏻”

About: I have been around dogs since childhood and have many years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all sizes and personalities. In recent years, I have regularly looked after dogs for friends, family, and owners requiring both short-term and holiday care. I have experience caring for a wide range of breeds, including Chihuahuas, Yorkshire Terriers, Cockapoos, Springer Spaniels, Labrador Retrievers, and Golden Retrievers. This has given me a good understanding of the different exercise, training, and care needs of both small and large breeds. Our family home provides a safe, comfortable environment for dogs to relax and enjoy their stay. We live in a spacious house with plenty of room indoors, a large garden, and a secure, fully enclosed patio area at the rear of the property for safe outdoor time. Our 12-year-old son is very sensible, gentle, and caring around dogs, having grown up with them and being accustomed to treating them with kindness and respect. Any dog staying with us will receive lots of attention, affection, exercise, and care, helping them feel settled and at home while you're away. Your pet will enjoy plenty of company and attention with our flexible home-working schedule. I work from home two days a week. I am also available for evening, weekend, and holiday bookings (subject to availability). I always aim to provide a safe, comfortable, and caring environment while you're away. Your dog's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have a large, secure garden and a fully enclosed patio area where dogs can safely play, relax, and enjoy outdoor time. The entire property is fenced and private, providing a safe environment away from busy roads and public access. For added security, the home is protected by electric gates and CCTV cameras. If your dog is crate-trained or you would prefer them to be crated for rest periods or overnight, I am happy to accommodate this according to your wishes and routine. I treat every dog as if they were my own and aim to provide a safe, secure, and loving home-from-home experience.
“Isla was absolutely amazing with my pet. She looked after my 1.5 year beagle for 2 days inc overnights. Regular updates were sent showing peanut (my dog) was in loving safe hands. I cannot recommend Isla enough to mind your pet. I will be booking again with her.”

“Our dog Pancho had a great time with Nicola who has a great understanding of dogs, even reactive ones like ours. Pancho's stay also had to be extended by 1 night at short notice which Nicola was kindly able to accommodate.”

“Paul had our dog for 1 week, Paul was absolutely amazing. Very professional & Kept us updated daily and send brilliant pics. Highly recommend! Thanks again Paul I will definitely be rebooking :):)”

“Agnieszka and her family were absolutely amazing and took great care of Brick during his stay. Agnieszka jad great communication and sent me lots of updates and pictures throughout his stay. Would highly recommend!”

Aidan took exceptional care of my dog, Samson, and is clearly a genuine dog lover. I dropped off a slightly anxious “velcro dog” who doesn't like to be away from me or my husband, but picked up a calm, content dog who had clearly enjoyed some big walks, been well cared for and felt comfortable in his new surroundings. Aidan kept me up to date on Samson's progress, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive sitter.

Isla and Michael were fantastic! You can tell they really love caring for dogs and they went above and beyond with DD our 11 yr old French bulldog. They made sure she was well looked after, played with her constantly and took her on regular walks. We are delighted to have found someone we trust with our four-legged friend and will be using them again without hesitation.

If I could give 10 stars I would. Ziggy has stayed with Niamh before for a few nights and he got so excited when I drove into her street again which immediately put me at ease. I was so happy leaving him in such good hands. He was very well looked after for the three weeks he was with Niamh ❤️🥰 can't recommend her enough x

Sarah was spectacular with our dogs, I can't recommend her enough! Our dogs had never been left with a sitter they didn't know before, but Sarah put us at such ease! She's such a kind, patient person I knew the dogs would be in good hands. She was very diligent, asking all the right information for caring with them and followed all instructions perfectly. She took the time to meet up with us so we could introduce her to one of the dogs which was very sweet of her. Throughout the dog's stay she would send us cute pictures and updates and the dogs looked like they had an absolute blast! Because of Sarah we were able to have our dog come and be a part of our Wedding ceremony, she was so kind and dropped him off and picked him up from the wedding so we could have him for the day, which made our day all the more memorable and special! I could never thank Sarah enough for being so generous and doing that for us! She's an absolute star!

Nichola was fantastic with Buster our 13 year old Jack Russel, We were very nervous because he sometimes isn't very good around people but he took to her so well. We were able to enjoy our holiday because she sent us updates daily on how he was getting on and he enjoyed her company so much he was actually sad the first night we got him home. Would recommend Nichola 100 percent 👌 she has a gift with dogs and will deffo use her in the future .
We have being sending Riley to Sarah & Ciaran for a couple of years for short stays and he has loved being there. This time we left Riley for a week which we have never done before as he suffers from separation anxiety or maybe I do. Once again he was spoilt rotten the photographs and daily updates were great. Riley is a very pickier eater and Sarah & Ciaran took on the challlenge of encourage him to eat. He is a doodle with a double coat that mats, he was groomed perfectly. I cannot thank them of recommend them enough when it comes to caring for our dog. Riley was on his holidays too🐾❤️

Beau and Apollo loved staying with Anastacia and she took excellent care of them both. We received regular updates and pics of the dogs which we appreciated. We would definitely recommend Anastacia and would have no hesitation leaving the boys or our dog with her in future. Thanks Anastacia for taking such great care of Apollo and Beau😊

Can’t recommend Margot enough. Left our staffy for a week’s sitting in Margot’s home. We received regular updates while on holidays and our dog had a holiday as good as ours. We were so anxious leaving him but would do so again in a heartbeat. Our dog doesn’t deal well with other dogs and this was not an issue at all for Margot - a lot of other sitters will keep multiple dogs at once but Margot gave him one on one attention.

Riley just got back from staying with Edward and Winston. Edward kept me updated throughout with messages, pictures, and videos, which was really reassuring and nice to see. It was clear Riley was having a good time and felt very comfortable around both of them. Winston is very gentle and calm, and Riley seemed really relaxed around him. I’d definitely be happy for Riley to stay with them again next time I need someone to look after her.

We left Boo with Elaine and her family for a second time for 4 nights just now. Once again he was really well looked after and had a great time. We received regular messages & photos and felt reassured from the very start that he was in good hands. We will definitely take Boo to stay again when we need a dog sitter. Richard

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Northern Ireland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
