Joëlla was very professional and we think that Maverick liked her - we got home to a happy doggo. She kept me updated and communicated easy and efficient from the beginning. Her notes were very detailed and the photos were great. It is the first time I used this app and I am super happy with the experience.

Sean did an amazing job taking care of our cats while we were away on holiday. He visited twice a day, fed them, cleaned their bowls, and even took the rubbish out before we got back — everything was spotless when we returned. From the very first meeting, our cats liked him right away — he was friendly, positive, and calm, which made us feel confident too. We really appreciated the detailed updates with photos he sent after each visit. It was great to know when the cats came out, how many showed up, and how they were behaving. We felt very reassured and knew our cats were in good hands. Thank you, Sean!

About: I have taken care of many different breeds of dogs and cats since I was a teenager. My neighbours and friends relied on me to walk, feed and care for their pets whilst they were away on holiday. I do have a full time job however I work shifts and have plenty of days off, (My calendar will always be updated to my off days) so they will not be left alone & I will still have a lot of time to play and look after your pet. I do not have any other pets at the property so your pet will be my No.1 priority. The flat has a communal garden so toilet breaks will be regular. I live around a lot of wildlife living near the chilterns and will be able to take them on long and interesting walks!

About: Lifelong dog lover but sadly can’t be an owner as travel overseas too often. I am very experienced handling dogs as I used to be a volunteer dog walker for Hearing Dogs for the deaf plus another charity called the Cinnamon Trust. I have also been walking my neighbours black Labrador once a week for the past six years (he is featured in my profile picture). I am a retired gentleman so I am generally available all the time. I can easily travel and am happy to take dogs in my vehicle. I walk for at least an hour every day and know many varied walking routes in the Aylesbury Vale area. I am friendly, approachable and easy to communicate with. Through membership of another website I walk two labradors separately over three separate walks each week. With regards to the two Labradors I occasionally have them for overnight stays at my home. I have been doing this since February 2022 and have built up deep trusted relationships with both dogs. I have been fully retired since 2013 and am generally available for dog walks most days between 10am and 5pm. I do travel both in the UK and overseas for a total of 3 months a year spread throughout the year. I have a large very secure garden and keep no pets of my own at my property which is very private and detached. I live adjacent to open countryside and have a car which I am happy to take dogs in.

About: I'm a pet sitter and dog walker who genuinely loves spending time with animals and understanding what helps them feel calm, happy and secure. I'm patient, gently and tuned into the small details, whether that's keeping routines steady, offering extra cuddles, or giving a nervous dog a slow, reassuring walk. Whether I'm caring for pets at home or taking dogs out for relaxed, enjoyable walks, I treat every animal like a friend I'm responsible for, making sure they feel comfortable, understood and well looked after while you're away. I endeavour to be the next best companion to your much loved pet in your absence. I’m currently working part‑time, which means I have plenty of time and energy to give your cats and dogs the attention they deserve. Whether it’s playtime, cuddles, walks, or simply keeping them company, I’m fully present for them. I’m available every day of the week from 11am onwards, including weekends, so you can count on me to be flexible and reliable whenever you need support. When I’m caring for your pets in your home, their safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I follow your routines closely, keep a careful eye on their environment, and make sure they feel secure and relaxed while you’re away. I love creating fun, engaging moments, whether that’s playtime, gentle affection, or simply being a calm, reassuring presence. I treat your home with the same respect I give your pets, keeping everything tidy, clean, and exactly as you left it. My goal is to make your pets feel happy and cared for, and for you to feel completely at ease.

About: We have 2 children (aged 10 and 8) who are massive animal lovers. I grew up with dogs, my first dog was when I was 2. Ben was my best friend and I helped to look after him in his old, poorly age. I have also had a dalmatian and collie cross - high energy dogs! My husband, Steve, works from home and has looked after dogs for many years. We currently have the most friendly golden retriever who LOVES other dogs! We have 2 cats, who stay out of the way, and 2 rats, who are nosey and love coming to say hello at the edge of the cage. All dogs need to be child friendly, as our two children will actively help to look after any visitors, with lots of play time and cuddles! Either myself or Steve will be the main caregiver to your fur baby. My husband works from home and our children's school is walking distance. The backdoor is always open so there is free flow to the enclosed garden. Lots of play time, cuddles and walks will be offered throughout the day. We have an enclosed garden offering lots of place to play. We have a golden retriever who loves other dogs and will offer lots of company.

About: When I was a teenager I used to feed the dogs and cats for a neighbour when they went on holiday. My partner also used to have dogs so I am used to walking dogs, they were both huskies. We also have pastoral dogs at school so I used to being around smaller dogs. I work from home so am around all year to look after your doggos or cats. We have large fields behind our home so we have lots of room for walks and zoomies 😊 I have a fenced garden and a partner who has had many pets (cats and dogs) in the past. We are both calm and patient and friendly and have a loving home to board your pet.

About: I love all dogs and have owned many breeds. I am comfortable playing with my Dad’s Pomeranian or my sisters Staffordshire bull terrier. I grew up with jack russells and setters. I love making sure they have a good run around and also get to play indoors and are kept engaged. I love cuddles on the sofa and making sure they got lots of attention. I’m fit and active and can make sure they have a good walk. I’m a dog lover currently inbetween jobs (and usually work from home or in a hybrid capacity) so am fully available at home and living next to a park. I am in a ground floor flat so White Hill park is technically my garden. I’ve had dogs my whole life and currently live vicariously through helping friends and family with theirs. I miss the cuddles, playing and company of dogs so being able to help people with theirs perfectly aligns with my current schedule. I don’t drive but the park is right outside. Although I have access to a car if need be. I live in a ground floor flat with the security door just outside my front door so there are no safety/escape issues. I can let them out for the toilet whenever they need it. I have throws on my sofa so dogs are welcome on my furniture. I’ve always considered dogs part of the family so I don’t mind them on the sofa. My flat is quite big so there is plenty of room for their beds, crates and toys - whatever the owners preference.

About: Animals have always been a central part of my life; I grew up caring for a variety of dogs. I have extensive experience with puppies, rescue dogs, and senior pets, and I am well-versed in managing canine anxiety and implementing training methods for young dogs. Because I currently work from home, I have the flexibility to provide daytime walks or check-ins. I am also happy to host pets in my home, which features an enclosed garden and is located near excellent walking areas. To ensure a smooth transition and keep your pet comfortable, I will strictly follow their established routines regarding mealtimes, food, and treats. Working from home, I am easily able to meet your pets' needs, and can adapt my responsibilities to fit in walks and exercising, mealtimes etc. I have an enclosed fenced garden , regular garden breaks as Patio doors are open most the time depending on weather. I give the dogs plenty of massages and fuss.

About: Flexible working hours and working from home means either myself or my husband will always be around. Your pets will be looked after with lots of attention and care. We understand how hard it can be to find support and want to pass this on. I currently work from home with very flexible hours as I am self-employed so I will always be around to offer support and care if your pets stay here. Large fenced off garden, plenty of space in the home and no children. We have a dog ourselves who likes other pets but does not tend to interact much with them so your pets will be comfortable here.

About: I’ve had dogs my whole life until recently, and I’ve only had collies which require a lot of attention and walking. This means I am used to high maintenance dogs and enjoy long walks 😁 I’m working part time, sometimes 2 shifts a week and sometimes none, which means I have lots of spare time to look after dogs! I have a large fenced garden along with a small fenced garden where our collie used to go outside for small trips, I also have a small inside utility room which is fenced for dogs to stay if they need to.

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is simple: I take your pet’s care as seriously as you do. You can count on me to follow instructions to the letter, keep you updated, and make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I treat every pet like my own and believe peace of mind shouldn’t be optional. As a personal trainer with flexible hours, I’m able to fit pet care naturally into my daily and weekly routine. My schedule allows me to be available during the day, evenings, and weekends, so your pet gets the attention and care they deserve without feeling rushed. When caring for pets in their own home, I do everything I can to keep them comfortable and happy in their familiar space. I follow their routine closely — from feeding and fresh water to playtime and walks (if needed). I make sure they get plenty of attention, affection, and company so they don’t feel alone while you’re away. I also respect your home, keep things clean and tidy, and always leave it just as I found it — with a happy, well-cared-for pet ready to greet you when you return!

Olivia looked after our cats while we were on holiday for one week. She was coming every morning to give them food, clean the litter box and play with them. We did receive daily photo updates showing that the cats were ok. She managed to become friend of both cats even if one of them was super shy and scared at the beginning )). This made our holiday much more relaxing and we will definitely rebook Olivia’s service again.

Siobhán has been an absolute star! She was available at pretty short notice and looked after our cat beautifully. Playing with him and encouraging him to eat all his food inside and outside - even bringing brushes from her own home for some grooming which he’s never had from us before! She gave detailed updates on his eating, playing and adventures with other cats and sent lots of photos. We enjoyed reading her updates every morning and evening during our holiday! We would highly recommend Siobhán to anyone who needs their cat looking after. She is very professional, listened to all our instructions and did everything perfectly. We are very happy we found her! Many Thanks Siobhán!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Aylesbury Vale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

  • 81% of sitters can help with special care needs

  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.
