“Rebecca and her family were absolutely lovely with my 18 week old Trixie. Honestly she had the best time at their home. I got sent lots of photos and updates. They took her on a lovely walk in the woods which is nearby them and she also had plenty of cuddles from her lovely daughters. I honestly wouldn’t hesitate to put my Trixie to Rebecca again. It was the first time I had left her overnight but the family put me at ease straight away. I’m sure Trixie can’t wait for more sleep overs.”

“Ellie put up with my overload of messages asking how my baby was and sent me video after video, letting me know exactly how she was doing when I needed it, I would definitely recommend, such a calm environment x”

“Emma and Rivers were amazing with Broxi. They helped us out last minute and I felt good knowing he was going to be looked after well. They were really appreciative of the fact that he can’t really be left alone and were able to facilitate that with their schedules. He had a lovely time and we got updates as needed. Thank you both again.”

About: We have been offering pet boarding for over a year, and I’ve had dogs my entire life. I truly believe they are one of the best companions a person can have. I have completed pet first aid training and focus training, and I care for every pet as if they were my own. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away. My husband and children are all involved with the pet boarding and this ensures the pets have plenty of cuddles and attention. I look after your dogs as if they are my own and I follow the routines they are used to. Our dogs enjoy at least two good walks a day off the lead in a safe area and lots of fun and attention. We have a large enclosed garden for them to enjoy as well. My dogs are friendly and used to meeting new dogs and people. We as a family love dogs and all respect and treat them with kindness.

“Kayleigh and her lovely family were absolutely amazing with our little guy, Cosmo! From the moment we dropped him off, we knew he was in safe and loving hands. We received regular updates and the most adorable photos all weekend. It was clear Cosmo was being completely spoiled and loved just like one of their own. Kayleigh’s care, kindness and attention to detail were incredible, we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. Thank you so much for looking after him so beautifully!”

“Glen and Sarah were fantastic! They took such good care of our dog, and kept us updated throughout. Lovely family, their own dogs are great, and overall felt very comfortable leaving our dog with them.”

“My 2 chihuahuas had a wonderful experience staying with Jane, I thoroughly recommend her. She has a lovely calm and kind personality which was great for my 2 nervous boys, they were very reassured in her presence. She was also very flexible when working with me on a change of dates which I really appreciated.”

About: I’ve basically grown up around animals and honestly just love being around them. Alongside lots of real-life pet sitting, I’m currently studying Animal Behaviour and Welfare at university, so I understand not just how to care for animals, but how they think and feel too. Through my animal care courses, I’ve also been trained in animal first aid, which means I know what to look out for if something isn’t quite right and how to respond calmly in an emergency. I’ve looked after all sorts- from cats and dogs to fish (including my own shrimp and betta!), and even giant breeds like Newfoundlands. I’m really comfortable handling multiple pets and different personalities. I also have experience with pets that need extra care. I regularly look after an older diabetic dog who needs a strict routine, so I’m very confident sticking to schedules, giving medication, and keeping a close eye on health and behaviour. I think what really sets me apart is that I treat every pet like they’re my own- whether that’s playing with energetic puppies, being patient with nervous animals, or giving extra love and attention to senior pets. Pet care fits really naturally into my routine because it’s already a big part of my life. With my university course, I’m used to planning my days around animals and their needs. I’m quite flexible and happy to work around your pet’s normal routine, whether that’s early morning walks, evening feeds, or more structured care for pets who need it. I’m organised and reliable, so you can trust that everything will be done properly and on time. For me, making pets feel safe, relaxed, and happy is the most important thing. I always follow your instructions closely so your pet can stick to the routine they’re used to. Because of my training, I’m confident spotting early signs of illness, stress, or injury, and I know how to respond appropriately if anything were to happen. I pay close attention to behaviour and body language, which helps me keep pets comfortable and settled. I’m very calm and patient, especially with nervous or older animals. I keep everything clean and safe, and I’m more than happy to send updates and photos so you know your pet is happy and doing well. At the end of the day, I just want owners to feel completely at ease knowing their pets are being genuinely cared for and loved.

“After meeting Alexandra I new instantly our Minnie would be well looked after and she was, photos and videos in abundance of her happy holiday, a huge thank you Alexandra, Minnie is missing her new found friend daisy”

“Zhi was excellent with our 6 month old Rottweiler puppy! Received great photos videos and regular updates from the day. Very nice home and welcoming Family! Phoebe had a great time and can’t wait to be back in July! 🐾🐾🐾”

“I was a little anxious about leaving my 2 dachshunds with a sitter for the first time however Daisy (and Scott) are a lovely, friendly couple and they have such an obvious love of dogs. They came to the house and met my dogs and they all took to each other immediately!! She even invited me to go to her home where I was able to advise them on stairs and going out in the garden etc. Daisy asked questions about Henry and Bean's routines and quirks and listened intently when I explained their love of blankies and their various idiosyncrasies, as she wanted to make sure that she was giving them a home from home experience. It certainly put my mind at ease! Also, while I was away, she sent me lots of photos, videos and updates and also arranged for the doggos to go on a walk with a fellow dachshund! She was kind enough to collect them from my home (with a vast amount of their 'necessities') and dropped them back home when I got back too. Doggies are home very happy (and tired) and obviously have enjoyed their new adventure. I feel fortunate to have found Daisy and Scott and I feel confident leaving Henry and Bean with them in the future knowing that they will get the love, care and attention they have at home. Thanks guys X”

Rebecca and her family were absolutely lovely with my 18 week old Trixie. Honestly she had the best time at their home. I got sent lots of photos and updates. They took her on a lovely walk in the woods which is nearby them and she also had plenty of cuddles from her lovely daughters. I honestly wouldn’t hesitate to put my Trixie to Rebecca again. Charlotte was amazing, very friendly pet sitter who easily and quickly engaged well with Agnes and helped to settle her more anxious behaviours. She has a lovely home and spent quality time with Agnes taking her long walks and generally going above and beyond the role. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Charlotte again and wanted to thank her for taking care of Agnes so well.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
