Arkadiusz was incredibly communicative and shared plenty of photos during my dog’s stay at his home and while out on walks. His kind approach and friendly nature made me feel completely at ease, and I’m confident that my dog was well cared for and looked after. I’d be more than happy to leave my dog with Arkadiusz again in the future.

About: Laura and I have had dogs all our lives. We routinely dog sit for friends and family. We understand how challenging it can be to have a reliable carer for your dog that you can trust, allowing you to make the most of your time away. Having 3 dogs of varying ages (Axl (15), Chess (12) and Louie (4)), we know how important it is to be flexible in catering to your dog's specific requirements, whether that be medications, toilet routine, exercise or training. Although Chris doesn't hold formal qualification, he is something of a dog whisperer and can use some of the time with your dog to work on specific aspects of obedience with prior agreement. Our baby, TJ, was a 2025 addition to the family and has grown up around our dogs. Naturally, we could not board dogs with a history of agression towards other pets or humans/children. Daily routine - awake 0700-0730, breakfast 0800, dinner 1700, taken outside at 1 - 2 hour intervals throughout the day, short walk around lunchtime, longer walk in the afternoon (dog dependent), bedtime around 2230. Laura and I are currently balancing parental leave and part-time WFH, so there will always be at least one of us at home, if we're not out on a walk. We have a huge (0.25 acre) enclosed grass garden, ideal for training off-lead walking and recall. We are lucky to have locally accessible fields suitable for both on and off lead walks, depending on recall. If your dog travels well, local beaches and forests make for exciting longer adventures.

About: My family still have our 15 year old bearded collie and we lost our 12 year old German Shepherd January this year. I miss the long walks, trail runs and company. I recently moved to my own home and would love the opportunity to look after someone’s pooch and get them / me out and about! I work full time during the week so unable to offer anything weekdays. I finish work by 3pm on a Friday. I think I’d be perfect for those away for the weekend but looking for someone to care for their fur baby! I have an unfenced garden that is shared, I can close the gate at the main driveway and I’d ensure I pop a lead on before opening the entrance door to be extra cautious… I’d do the same for my own dog.

If dogs could talk I’m sure Kali wouldn’t stop telling us what a ball she had while she was away. I almost think she’s sad to be home. Erin was a real home from home for us. She was very accommodating with a last minute booking and was very flexible with drop offs and pick ups. We were kept up to date with Kali everyday with lots of pictures and videos every evening which was great to see how much fun our girl was having. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Kali in here again. She was clearly very loved and cared for. Think Kali is counting the days until we go away again so she can come back 😂. Thank you Erin for taking the best care of our big dafty. X

Ashleigh just looked after my dog for 2 nights - this was the first time she's ever been away from us so we hade no idea what to expect / how she'd cope. Ashleigh took great care of her and was very tuned in to what she needed ad kept me updated. great success and much relief for us. We'll definitely arrange more :-)

About: We're Steph and James a family living in the countryside with one teenager and one friendly dog named Jack. We have a very large garden and many country walks on our doorstep. We work from home so someone is always here to look after your best friend. We both work from home so have plenty of time to head out on adventure walks. We have a teenager that adores animals also and has lots of energy after school to play in the garden with your pet. We take it in turns doing the school run so there is always someone at home. We have a large garden that is fenced in with a stream that runs down one side. We have plenty or room in our office space including a sofa. So your pet never has to be alone. Jack is a very loving and friendly and relax boy. Who get on very well with all other dogs.

We had not used a dog boarding service before and were quite apprehensive about leaving our Cocker Spaniel, Keira, with a stranger for two weeks. However, after our initial visit to meet Kerry and her own pets we felt more at ease and happy that Keira would be able to settle down with her new friends and family. During our holiday Kerry responded to our messages promptly and kept us informed about Keira’s integration into her new surroundings. I would say that Keira was made very welcome and possibly even spoiled by Kerry and her family so, she would have felt very comfortable in her new “home”. I can highly recommend Kerry as a dog boarder and would have no hesitation in using her services again. Thank you so much for looking after our precious pup. William

About: Hello, I’m Naomi, a 28-year-old Veterinary Nurse with a lifelong passion for animals. Choosing someone to care for your pet is a big decision, and I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust. As a Veterinary Nurse, I have extensive experience caring for animals of all ages, breeds, temperaments, and medical needs. I share my life with a dog of my own, so I know that pets are family. Whether your pet loves long walks, gentle strolls, playtime, cuddles on the sofa, or simply having someone nearby, I’ll tailor their care to suit their individual personality and routine. My professional background means I’m confident administering medication, monitoring health and wellbeing, recognising signs of illness, and caring for senior pets or those with additional needs. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness will always be my top priority. When your pet stays with me, they’ll be treated as if they were my own—with plenty of love, attention, enrichment, and care. I’ll also keep you updated with regular photos and messages so you can relax knowing your best friend is in safe hands. I like to call them “pupdates”. I’d love to meet you and your pet and discuss how I can provide a happy, safe, and caring home-from-home experience while you’re away. 🐾 Feel free to get in touch—I look forward to meeting your furry family member! I work full-time as a Veterinary Nurse at a Veterinary practice in Inverness but I am available almost every weekend, and depending on my shift pattern, I can also provide evening care. I have a spacious, fenced garden, perfect for your pet to explore and play in. Our home is located in a rural area, providing a safe environment. We also have a Labrador with a wonderful temperament who has been raised with other dogs. He is crate trained and enjoys the freedom to move in and out of his crate as he pleases, making him a great companion for another dog.

Sandra was a great cat-sitter whilst I was away last weekend. My cat went and stayed with her and Sandra took extra care of her individual needs, as well as her basic ones. Thanks so much Sandra - appreciated! Would recommend :)

I was nervous about leaving our 8 year old spaniel as we had only ever left her with family. Arek was very welcoming and made sure to keep me updated with how she was and sending pictures. Jess came home a very happy and content dog, I would recommend Arek for anyone looking for a dog sitter and wouldn’t hesitate to book him if needed in the future! Thank you again 😊

Liudmyla is very reliable. My dog recognised her immediately. He obviously likes her and I’m happy to leave him in her care. She sent an update which was great.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
