“Ellie was phenomenal with my cat Nami, taking time to play with her and pet her when she dropped in to care for her. It was my first time leaving Nami for a long trip but having Ellie send daily pictures really alleviated my anxiety. I definitely plan on hiring her again.”

About: I’ve taken care of my dogs for as long as I can remember. I have helped out with family, friends, and neighbors when they are away and need help with their fur babies. I love every pet as if they were my own I work part-time and close to my house. I will be able to watch your dog during the day, take them for walks, or even watch them over night! I have two friendly dogs and can easily crate your dog if needed. I have a huge yard and also a big car to transport the dog back and fourth when needed! I know a lot of local spots for walks and nice dog parks! Every dog who I have ever watched, I make sure to keep them safe and happy! And of course most of all feel loved!
About: I’m an experienced rescue pet owner who’s fostered both cats and dogs, including my own behaviorally challenged dog. I grew up caring for a senior dog with medical needs, so I understand the importance of patience, attention to detail, and compassion. Through my rescue work, I’ve provided both cat and dog sitting and am excited to offer that same loving care to more pets and families! Pet care best fits into my daily schedule during lunch breaks and anytime after 4 PM! I can be flexible as well depending on the time slots needed and my class schedule. Safety is always my main priority. Through my experience working with flight-risk fosters and animals with a variety of behavioral and medical needs, I’ve learned how to create secure environments for every pet in my care. I’m attentive to details, careful with routines, and always mindful of each animal’s comfort and safety
“Carley took excellent care of my kitties while I was away for the first time since moving to a new home! She followed my info for feeding, playing etc to the tee and sent lots of photos during her visits. I could tell both my cats were super comfortable with her and were getting lots of love while I was away 🥰”

“Caprice fed our cat for the weekend, and was very communicative, sent lots of photos and made us feel comfortable that Hendrix was safe and happy while we were away. We would definitely work with her again!”

“Angelisa is so good to our 4 year old Maltipoo. She is so patient, gentle and calming. She knows his routines and our instructions. She is very professional and always on time and stays the whole time scheduled. My family and I are so happy we have her to be there for our little guy when we can’t be.”

“Jess is literally the best sitter ever! We have went through countless people and she’s the only one who I have truly felt has cared about my pup as much as I do! She’s amazing with Winnie ( my pup)! She’s flexible, accountable, and always messages updates and timely notice when she cannot come so I can figure out other plans. My dog is probably more excited to see her than me some days, would highly recommend her if she has opening!”

About: I have two dogs of my own that I’ve had since puppy-hood. Ever since I was a kid, my heart would joyously melt in front of any and every four legged friend. I love getting to know other animals, and take care of them as if they were my own. I got my start pet sitting by looking after my friends and neighbors’ dogs and cats on occasion. At present, my longest cat sitting gig was 3 weeks straight in which I stayed with my fur friend for ~6-8 hours a day just to keep her company. I work remotely, so my workstation is mobile. In this was I can make most pet-sitting tasks and hours work— while assuring your pets have company, enrichment, and supervision. (As an aside, I go by both Vera and Amanda and use them interchangably) I work remotely 10am-6pm monday-friday. Ideally, i prefer to visit pets and take care of them anytime before 10am, but my calendar is very flexible. My workstation is mobile, so if desired, I can keep your pet company for extended periods of time during the day. I’m also available all day on the weeknds. I have 2 dogs that I love dearly and walk 2-3 times every single day at routine times. I brush them frequently, I strap on little booties for their paws daily to protect them from the hot pavement, and I play with them to their little hearts content.
“What wonderful experience! Could not recommend Nicole more! She was very communicative, sent pictures and took great care of my puppy! Will definitely be using her again to care for Pedey! Thank you so much! ❤️”

“Miranda has been wonderful with drop in visits for my dog. She is easy to work with, great communication, reliable, and clearly enjoys her work and spending time with animals.”

About: I've taken care of my own family's dogs since I was a child. Neighbors, friends, and family have relied on me to take care of their pets. I am a nursing student looking to make some cash in a fun way. I currently have tuesday and wednesday afternoons off, all day off on fridays, and weekends off too. I am unavailable Mondays and Thursdays. As a walker I am comfortable applying harnesses/collars and leashes. I can walk as little or as long as you and your dog would like! If you have a fenced in yard I am happy to play fetch, tug, etc. outside. If no fenced in yard, I can play inside or just keep walking!

“Marissa did a wonderful job dog sitting for us this past week! Dogs loved her, got to play fetch everyday, and we got photos and updates daily. We’ll definitely be using her again!”

About: I've taken care of my dog for 10 years with the rest of my family. As well as taking dog sitting for other pets, have done overnight and just check ups. Very flexible, can walk or look after your pet almost every day of the week this summer. Can also do almost any hour of the day. I can't keep pets at my current apartment. But if I did I would make sure they have enough bathroom breaks throughout the day and are well fed and hydrated! I would make sure your dog is always accounted for and I am ready for anything!
“We are so lucky to have found Heath. Heath is very responsive, sends lot of photos, and has been very accommodating with our schedule including last-minute out-of-town trips and efficient key pick-ups. Our cat, Olive, simply loves Heath! We feel very secure knowing that she is in great hands, and so appreciate the flexibility that gives us. We have already rebooked Heath several times and plan to continue to do so as long as we can!”

About: Animals have been at the center of my life for as long as I can remember. I have shared my life with and cared for pets since I was four years old and have worked professionally in pet care for more than 20 years. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, temperaments, and medical needs, as well as a wide variety of other animals including rodents, reptiles, llamas, goats, chickens, ducks, and pigs. Whether your pet is energetic and playful, shy and reserved, senior, or requires medication and extra attention, I am committed to providing patient, individualized care tailored to their unique needs. I understand that pets are family, and I treat every animal in my care as if they were my own. My goal is not only to keep your pets safe, happy, and comfortable while you’re away, but also to give you peace of mind knowing they are receiving loving, dependable, and attentive care from an experienced professional who genuinely enjoys what she does. Pet care is a natural part of my daily life. I currently work remotely with a flexible schedule, which allows me to accommodate visits throughout the day, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed. Because my schedule is flexible, I am able to tailor my visits to your pet’s routine rather than expecting them to adapt to mine. Whether your pet needs a quick potty break, a long walk, multiple daily visits, playtime, medication administration, feeding, litter box care, or simply some companionship while you’re away, I’m happy to help. I understand how important consistency is for animals, especially when their families are traveling or working long hours. My goal is to keep your pet’s routine as normal and stress-free as possible while providing plenty of love, attention, and individualized care. I have more than 20 years of professional pet care experience and genuinely enjoy getting to know each pet’s unique personality. Whether your companion is an energetic puppy, a senior dog, a social cat, or a shy feline who prefers a quiet presence, I will care for them with patience, kindness, and the same level of attention I would give my own pets. Thank you for considering me to care for your furry family member. I look forward to meeting you and your pet! I take the responsibility of caring for your pet very seriously. My goal is always to care for your furry family member as if they were my own, providing dependable, attentive, and loving care while you’re away. I currently offer drop-in visits for both dogs and cats. For dogs, visits can include feeding, fresh water, potty breaks, playtime, companionship, medication administration (when needed), and plenty of attention. For cats, I provide feeding, fresh water, litter box maintenance, medication administration, playtime, affection (on their terms!), and whatever individualized care they may need to remain comfortable and happy in their own environment. With more than 20 years of professional pet care experience, I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and preferences. I do my best to maintain their normal schedule and reduce any stress while you’re away. I also respect every home I enter. You can expect clear communication, reliability, and professionalism. Other than a happy, well-cared-for pet, you’d never know I was there.

About: New to here, but a lifelong dog person! I had my family dog for 16.5 years starting at 12 years old. 10 years ago I got my first big pup who did agility classes in his prime so I have experience with large, high-energy dogs. My 3rd adoptee is one of the large lazy ones, needing motivation to get his steps in! Currently living with my 9 year old medium pup who absolutely has some sass. I’m used to handling strong pullers, playful chaos, and dogs that like to test boundaries. I have experience helping friends and family with a variety of pet needs over the years. I’ll match your dog’s energy while keeping things safe, structured, and fun! I work full time during the week and have a pup of my own I care for. I have availability on weekends! Happy to spend time during my weekend to make sure yours goes off without a hitch! I am excellent at caring for your pet exactly how you would! I thrive on detailed instructions if you're a helicopter pet parent (like me!) or I can go with the flow if you're chill and confident with your furry family. Leashes, closed doors and gates, and lots of love will be priorities.
“We felt extremely comfortable with Annemarie after we initially met her and knew our pups were going to be in safe hands. We received detailed updates and photos with each drop in! She did a great job and will definitely use her services in the future.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Smithfield
Erik was wonderful and did great job taking care of our dog. Right off the bat he was quick to respond and great at communicating. During the meet and greet he asked all the right questions to make sure he knew everything he needed to take care our dog while we were away. During our time away Erik sent us videos and gave daily updates on how everything was going. He was flexible and reliable. He clearly has a love for animals and our dog was happy and relaxed with him. I look forward to booking Erik again in the future and highly recommend him.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.
To find sitters in Smithfield with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.
