About: I am a University of Notre Dame alumn working remotely from Burlington Vermont. I grew up with family dogs of all different personalities and energy levels, from high-energy Jack Russells to affectionate English Springer Spaniels and Boxers. Being around dogs my whole life has made me comfortable adapting to different routines, temperaments, and exercise needs. As I start thinking about adding a dog of my own, I’d love the opportunity to spend time caring for dogs in my community and give them the same attention, affection, and care I’d want for my own. I currently work fully remote from my apartment in Burlington Vermont. I spend most of my free time outdoors, going for walk by the waterfront, biking, golfing, and hiking. I look to fit in client walks throughout the work day and after work. I know how important it is to feel confident that your pet is in good hands. I’m attentive to each pet’s individual routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, bathroom breaks, and any specific instructions from their owner. In a client’s home, I’m respectful of both the pet’s space and the home itself, and I do my best to keep things consistent so your pet feels comfortable and secure while you’re away.
“Sarah took great care of our dog Enzo while we were gone for two nights. She sent us updates and pictures, was a great communicator and even came for a visit prior to our trip to meet Enzo and hear about his quirks. We would definitely consider booking with her again!”

“Carissa did an awesome job housesitting and taking care of our two cats! The place was clean and cared for when we were gone, and both cats were very happy. She was responsive and provided updates while we were away. We were very happy with her care!”

“We received pictures & updates on everyone and appreciate the extra care given to each one individually. Matt's always quick to respond to our request and was flexible when we asked to adjust dates to accommodate the weather. Thank you Matt!”
“Rachel was amazing! She was really sweet and easy to talk to. Nemo was extremely comfortable with her and we received tons of photos! Rachel also played a treat scavenger hunt around the apartment with Nemo which he loved. We will definitely be booking with her again.”

About: I have volunteered at two animal shelters since 2021 where I've gained experience taking care of dogs of all sizes, cats, and rabbits. I have also been a pet-sitter for friends and family for a number of years. My family has always had pets since before I was born, and I've grown up with cats, dogs, and guinea pigs. Our current pet count is seven: six cats and one dog! I am currently looking for an internship or a part-time job, so I have plenty of time during both weekdays and weekends to care for your pets! I love going on walks and spending time at the beach, as well as relaxing at home with a good book, so I am prepared for dogs of all energy levels and cats. I am happy to take your dog on leashed walks or have unleashed playtime in a fenced area. Whether they need space or enjoy making new friends, I will ensure your dog is safe and comfortable when outside the home. I set alarm reminders for my own dog's potty breaks to keep track of her activity and ensure she doesn't have any accidents, and I will do the same for your dog! I am also very experienced with feline escape artists, so I will do my due diligence in ensuring that your doors, windows, and fences are secured.
“Jenna was great, arrived promptly.Communicated well. She took pictures, walked my teacups, gave them treats. I felt very comfortable leaving my teacup Yorkies w her. Would definitely ask her to pup sit again.”

“Charlotte took great care of my dog while I was away! My pup can be nervous with new people and takes a bit to warm up and she loved Charlotte! She was calm and happy when I got home! Will definitley book again!”

About: I have had a dog all of my life. I love meeting new dogs and their owners. They teach us compassion, patience and love. I have taken care of senior dogs, one dog was 13 years old and lost his eyesight. I had an Old English Sheepdog and a cocker spaniel. I also took care of a Pug. I love dogs. I am currently retired. I am able to do morning and afternoon walks. The dogs is allowed to walk at their own pace. They can sniff and allowed to take a break if needed I walk with a harness. I stop periodically for focus and treats. The dogs are allowed to sniff and take in all of nature’s beauty.
“Andrew went above and beyond getting to know my difficult reactive dog who is scared of everyone. He was calm and kindly firm with Holly which she really responded well to. He left our place cleaner than we left it!”

“Bailey was wonderful while we were away during fireworks weekend in Burlington VT. Our 7 year old black lab greyhound is an anxious boy and very skittish with the booms and the bangs. Bailey kept him calm and relaxed without all the meds we suggested merely with her own relaxed self and a bit of music playing in the background. We received updated texts and photos helping us not to worry, our boy has a new friend and we have an excellent sitter. Reach out to her, she’s communicative, reliable and personable. You’ll appreciate her as much as we did!”

“Dima is an incredible dog sitter and human. She has stayed at our house to watch our two large pups on multiple occasions. She is an amazing communicator, she texts updates and pictures throughout. Our dogs are obsessed with her and she takes amazing care of them. She also is so considerate in our house and leaves it in amazing shape. Thank you, Dima :)”

“Erika was amazing- house sat my high maintenance cat, gave her ear drops, kept me up on her general well-being and was a total sweetheart. She kept the apt super clean and I will definitely use her again!”

About: Hi I’m Megan! I studied animal science at the University of Vermont so I absolutely love spending time with pets and I know a lot about animal needs! I am back at UVM for grad school, and excited to get some quality time with animals in! I interned at a vets office and I also worked with sled dogs (Siberian huskies) throughout college and did all of the care for them. I have experience raising puppies and caring for senior dogs, and love both. Specifics for what you want for your pet are always appreciated! I love to be active and go for walks and having a dog with me makes it so much more enjoyable! Whenever I have a pet they become my best friend for the time we spend together and I take their care very seriously. I have gained a lot of experience through dog sitting and will always listen to your needs and expectations for how you want your pet to be cared for. I know how much love we all have for our pets so I make sure they feel loved while you’re away, and will keep you updated with lots of pictures and videos!
“Kristen was right on time! We had a nice meet and greet with Bruno. She was very sweet and gentle with Bruno. He is timid because we just rescued him last year. We are working on him to trust her. Definitely will have her back.”

“Nina was amazing!! She provided thorough, regular updates, kept the house clean, and most importantly, kept our two girls safe and loved! Our dogs have some behavioral quirks, and Nina was so kind and patient and able to accommodate their needs. She also came for a meet and greet beforehand! Would recommend a million times over. Thank you, Nina!”

Kathy did a wonderful job watching my pets/house. Despite having 2 dogs, 2 cats, which I know is a tough job, everyone was well cared for. She provided regular updates on their well being, and check-ins. Would highly recommend and ask her to stay with the herd again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shelburne walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shelburne maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shelburne choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
