“Amanda and Jared were super sweet people! Amanda took great care of our dog who has separation anxiety. She was very communicative, sent lots of pictures, and assured our dog received the best care. I would 100% book her again!”
“What a fabulous first experience with Rover! Couldn’t have asked for better care of our Charlie. Frances was super responsive, available at all times, willing to let us pick him up late, kept in touch, sent lots of photos and even offered to give Charlie a bath when I asked about places to give him a bath. She is the best!”

“Tex came home happy and tired! I can tell he was well taken care of and enjoyed his time at Emma’s. Emma was wonderful to work with and sent multiple pictures throughout the day. Would definitely book again! 😊”

“This was my first experience with Rover and Pepper's first experience at a Doggy Day Care. I was a bit concerned about how Pepper would act as it was her first time away from me. However, Christopher's confidence and plan for Pepper quickly put me at ease. Pepper adapted to the environment fairly quick and loved playing with the other dogs. Christopher's professionalism and care were greatly appreciated. I highly recommend using Christopher.”

About: Hello! I am a dog owner and sitter ready to help you care for your family pet. I grew up with golden retrievers and always enjoy spending more time with my four legged friends. I have experience with many dogs, all size, shapes and personalities. I love to walk and hike so your pal will become mine as we get lots of fun exercise when we go on walks. For over 10 years I have cared for my own put and lots of other dogs and a few cats. I love to take dogs on long walks, play ball and enjoy quality time playing in the house. My experience includes working with dogs of all sizes from big to small, in all setting including urban apartments and larger homes. I enjoy dogs with all types of personalities, but active dogs and I get along best since I always like to be outside and on the move. My experience administering medication Yes, had my own dog who took a variety of medication and comfortable attending to dogs with medical needs. I have cared for with several dogs that have needed to take medication or follow a special diet so have no problem keeping them healthy. I work from home from 11 to 6pm. I am available to take dogs on long walks or to the dog park to play ball in the mornings and evenings. Potty breaks can be frequent if needed. I have a large apartment with a dog bed on the balcony and a large dog park that is fully fenced in outside which is great for chasing balls and squirrel watching. I live on the third floor of a walk up - so dogs will need to be able to walk stairs or small enough to be carried.
“Rachel and Justin are nothing short of phenomenal! Leaving my puppy Queenie in their care was the best decision I made. They treated her like a member of their own family, going above and beyond to ensure she was happy and well-cared for. Their flexibility and warm welcome immediately eased any nerves I had about leaving her with strangers. Queenie not only loved spending time with them but also adored their fur children and their son. I couldn’t be happier with the love and attention they provided. I’ll definitely be choosing Rachel and Justin again in the future for their exceptional care and genuine love for dogs!”

“Mike is amazing! He’s great at communication - I get updates all day long on the dogs and he also takes them on a ton of walks during the day. I can tell he really loves the dogs and my dogs run to his house from the car every time we arrive. Mike is also super accommodating to my work schedule and other things going on in my personal life - highly recommend!”

“Absolutely recommend Daniel, My pet absolutely loves spending time with him and gets so excited every time he sees him. He is also incredibly knowledgeable about dog behavior and care, which gives me total peace of mind whenever I’m away. He is professional and very reliable. He also keeps me posted by sharing photos and videos!”

About: I grew up with a cat, so I understand feline independence, quirks, and how to earn trust — even with the shy ones. Over the years, I’ve also lived with roommates who had dogs, so I’m comfortable with daily walks, feeding routines, and just being a steady, calm presence for a dog who’s used to company. Beyond my own home, I’ve pet sat for friends and family for years — everything from quick daily check-ins to longer stays while people were traveling. I know how important it is to keep pets on their normal routine, give them plenty of attention, and communicate with owners so they feel at ease the whole time. Whether your pet needs a playmate, a quiet companion, or just someone reliable to make sure they’re fed and loved, I’m happy to step in. Since I work fully remote, I’m home basically all day, so your pet gets plenty of company rather than long stretches alone. We will go for walks or dog park time throughout the day. My apartment doesn’t have direct yard access, but the complex has several dog parks nearby for outdoor time and socializing. I’m happy to adjust my schedule to match your pet’s usual feeding routine, and I send photo updates so you can see how they’re doing throughout the stay.
“Maria was fantastic! We needed last minute doggy daycare and she stepped in and saved the day. I'm usually super anxious about leaving him with someone I don't know, but I left feeling confident he was in great hands. Maria sent videos and pictures while we were away, which really helped us be at ease and enjoy our time out. When we picked up our dog, he was happy and you could tell he had a great time. Thank you Maria!”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats for pets my entire life & enjoy pet sitting for family and friends. I love to walk & hike & will ensure your dog has plenty of exercise. Also enjoy playing fetch in my fenced in yard or providing attention & company for older pets. I have experience giving medications and providing extra care for senior dogs. I work full time at home Monday - Friday & have flexibility to provide walks & playtime during the day & after work at my house. I am also available for pet sitting cats at your home. I have a fenced yard for your dog to play outside. Your pet can roam freely inside or sleep in a crate based on your preference.
About: I’ve been a pet owner for over 30 years and a dedicated pet sitter for the past decade, although I only joined Rover recently. Caring for animals is truly one of my favorite things in life. I also volunteer at the Austin Animal Shelter, where I get to meet pets of all personalities, and I love discovering what makes each one unique. Animals tend to warm up to me quickly, and I do everything I can to make them feel safe, loved and understood. Whether your pet prefers long walks, high energy games of fetch or snuggling on the couch, I’m all in! My goal is to always provide care that feels just as comforting and fun as home. I can’t wait to meet your furry family member! I work in an office M-F but otherwise I’m generally home. This means I’m available for early morning, evening and weekend visits. When I’m home, I’m fully focused on your pet, whether that’s feeding, playtime, snuggles, or keeping them company. I’m reliable, flexible, and happy to coordinate a schedule that works best for your pet’s routine. I have a fully fenced backyard and a doggy door for safe, easy outdoor access. My 10-year-old Shih Tzu, Fiona, is very calm and welcoming with visiting pets. I love taking walks, playing games, and keeping animals engaged so they stay happy and never bored. Your pet will also get plenty of affection—pets, hugs, and lots of love. I can crate your dog at night if that’s part of their routine, or they’re welcome to snooze on the couch like my own pup.
“Thorough, accommodating and a good instinct for animals, Nanda was great for keeping our two heeler mixes company with her while we worked over three long days. Great with both our puppy and seven-year-old, she's a relief to have as an option to watch the dogs.”

“Heather was an absolute gem with our high-energy golden retriever, Luca! She handled his energy perfectly and kept us in the loop with frequent video updates that showed just how happy and settled he was. We especially appreciated how she accommodated our request to keep him off the furniture. We'd book Heather again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter!”

About: I’ve cared for 3 foster dogs and love volunteering with cats. I have become a professional pet spoiler and learned how to care for high-energy pups! I take self-paced online classes, so my schedule is flexible. This allows me to spend lots of time with pets, give them attention, play with them, and make sure they’re comfortable. I don’t currently have any pets of my own, so your pet will have my full attention and care while they’re with me. I have a fenced yard where your pet can safely play and get some fresh air. I’ll be very attentive to them and make sure they're safe and entertained. I have lots of dog toys, lick pads to calm them and make them busy. I’ll make sure to follow your care instructions and update you with photos! I will give them lots of love, attention, and cuddles throughout their stay.
About: With 30+ years as both an owner and caretaker, I've cared for dogs of every size, age, and personality, so I'm comfortable handling whatever your pup's quirks or needs might be. I am especially good with senior dogs who need extra snuggles. Because I work from home, dogs here are almost never alone: we're roaming the house and yard together most of the day, with plenty of outdoor time built in naturally rather than scheduled bathroom breaks. Furniture, couch cuddles, and a genuinely cozy home are all part of the package. My own dog, Birdy, is a big, social 7-year-old who loves catch and tug-of-war, and having a resident dog who's socialized helps new dogs settle in fast. Most guest dogs are playing with him within the first day. I also always set up a short meet-and-greet before booking, so everyone starts off comfortable. What sets me apart is simple: your dog becomes part of a real, active household, not just a guest in a kennel. If you're looking for a place where your dog gets treated like family with a comfy home, a big backyard, and a friendly canine companion, I'd love to meet you both! Pet care isn't squeezed into my routine, it is my routine. I work from home, so dogs are woven into my entire day: mornings outside, walks, playtime, quiet afternoons while I work nearby, and evenings winding down together on the sofa. There's no juggling a job outside the home or rushing back for breaks; I'm simply here, mostly all day, every day, with time built in naturally for whatever the dogs need. Your dog's safety is my top priority. My yard is large and fully fenced with a 4-foot chain link perimeter, so there's secure room to run and play. I work from home, meaning dogs are rarely left alone and almost always have someone nearby. I require all dogs to be spayed/neutered with current shot records, and I don't board dogs with aggression issues. No exceptions for the safety of everyone. Every new dog starts with a short meet-and-greet with my own dog, Birdy, so we can make sure it's a good match before any stay begins. My home is smoke-free and set up to feel comfortable and familiar, not clinical. Dogs are welcome on the furniture and treated like part of the family from day one.
About: Hi! I’m Brant, a 26-year-old professional who works from home in South Austin. I’m a native Texan from Houston, a proud Texas A&M graduate, and have called Austin home for more than four years. Animals have always been a major part of my life. I grew up caring for and raising dogs, and because my family raises horses, I also have experience around horses, Longhorns, and other farm animals. Over the past year, I’ve fostered several dogs to support local shelters, giving me experience helping unfamiliar pets settle into a new environment and feel safe. I’m comfortable caring for animals of different breeds, sizes, ages, energy levels, and personalities. I frequently watch my girlfriend’s dog, Rafi, who quickly becomes my companion around the house and—when appropriate—on pet-friendly outings throughout Austin. I’m currently waiting until the timing is right to adopt a dog of my own, so Rover gives me an opportunity to enjoy the companionship of animals while helping owners feel confident that their pets are receiving attentive, dependable care. I’m highly responsive, happy to provide regular photo updates, and committed to following each owner’s instructions closely. I work remotely from home and have a flexible daily schedule, which allows me to provide plenty of supervision, companionship, walks, playtime, and bathroom breaks throughout the day. Pets staying with me will rarely be left alone for extended periods, and I can adapt my routine around their normal feeding, exercise, medication, and sleep schedules. I live alone in a spacious 2,200-square-foot home in a quiet residential area of South Austin with a large, fully fenced backyard. This provides plenty of room for pets to play, explore, relax, or find a quiet space when they need one. Pets are welcome on my furniture and treated like members of the household unless their owners prefer that I maintain different boundaries. I understand that every animal has a unique personality, so I take time to learn each pet’s routine, comfort level, triggers, and style of care. I carefully follow all feeding, walking, medication, crate, and household instructions and will never take a pet on an outing or introduce it to another animal without the owner’s permission.
About: My wife and I have been dog sitting for multiple friends over the years and as Rover sitters since August 2020! We both love meeting new furry friends (and their owners) - we have 2 small dogs of our own. We do prefer to sit dogs with low to medium energy levels (to accommodate our elderly dog) and 2 years or older, but we can definitely make exceptions on age and energy level with a Meet & Greet. I work from home, so I’m readily available to keep your pet companion company while you’re away on vacation, business or if your grumpy mother-in-law who doesn’t like dogs is in town. Our home has a wide open floor plan with plenty of room to accommodate the even rowdy (but well mannered), playful ones, and has a very secure backyard. Happy to take your loved one on walks (except during afternoons in summer), on outings to the park and make any other accommodations to make their stay as comfortable and stress free as possible while they’re separated from their 'hooman'.
The median cost per day for doggy day care in Shady Hollow is $35
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Shady Hollow
We had such a wonderful experience with Natalie watching our little Nelson! He had the best day playing with her, her husband, and all of their doggies, and it was clear that he was loved and well cared for while he was there. Nelson had a little potty mishap that left him needing a little cleanup, and he was understandably embarrassed. Natalie was so sweet and patient with him and did everything she could to make him feel comfortable and loved. That meant so much to us! We are incredibly thankful for the care, kindness, and attention they gave our little boy. Highly recommend!

Emma was the perfect host! My dogs were well taken of through out their visit. Emma was very flexible with the timing and worked to accommodate our needs! My girls loved their walks and everything was first class! Emma is my Austin connection! Thanks, Emma! Lucy Lou and Lilly Bug Love you!💕🐶🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I can tell Willow had a very positive experience with Josh, because we live close enough to walk in his neighborhood, and the couple of times we have walked there since Josh kept her, Willow makes a beeline toward his house as if she wants to go back there! I would use him again.

Megan (and family) are amazing!! I wasn't sure how my pup would do since he's quite glued to me, but he's always super happy when I drop him off and when I pick him up 😊. Megan has excellent communication and sends pictures of my dog, who always looks relaxed and happy. I'll definitely continue leaving my dog with Megan!

Heather was an absolute gem with our high-energy golden retriever, Luca! She handled his energy perfectly and kept us in the loop with frequent video updates that showed just how happy and settled he was. We especially appreciated how she accommodated our request to keep him off the furniture. We'd book Heather again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter!

Thorough, accommodating and a good instinct for animals, Nanda was great for keeping our two heeler mixes company with her while we worked over three long days. Great with both our puppy and seven-year-old, she's a relief to have as an option to watch the dogs.

We did a daycare with Allison as a way of introducing our dog Bono to her dog and house for boarding. From the beginning to end, Allison was very communicative, sent regular updates, and was responsive. Bono came home very happy and tired. We will definitely be using her again.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Shady Hollow commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in TX ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
