“Amy was so great. She was caring and attentive with our two dogs and she took great care of our home. She was great with communication and I felt very confident with her staying in our home. She left the house clean and tidy and the girls were very happy. I’d highly recommend Amy and will definitely use her again.”

“Jessica is a true animal lover who puts so much care and attention into her work, treating your pets as if they were her own. She took care of my dog and two cats for almost a week while I was out of town and I got frequent updates and came home to very happy animals! It’s also clear in talking with her that she has a wide range of animal experience, not just dogs and cats. Highly recommend and grateful to have found someone who I know will take excellent care of my pets.”

“Chase did a great job sitting for us while we were out of town. We got plenty of updates and pictures throughout his stay with her, and she enjoyed her time. Definitely appreciate the after visit summary he provided.”

“Kelly did great watching my boys for me! Very communicative, and sent me plenty of pictures while I was away. I would definitely recommend her to watch your fur babies for you, and I will 100% be reaching out to her if I need help again in the future!”

“Nancy is simply the best! She instantly fell in love with our tuxedo kitty, Ranger, and gave him wonderful, loving care. She was attentive to details and kept us updated through text messages and photos. We had peace of mind knowing our kitty was in great hands with her, and we will definitely Invite her to come back again the next time we go out of town. She also left our home very tidy and clean.”

“Anthea is amazing! This is our second time having her watch our dogs and it is so nice knowing the level of care and attention they will get while we are away. Anthea had great communication during the entire stay and sent us daily updates with lots of photos. If you are looking for reliable and exceptional care for you pet, look no further. We already have our next stay booked with her later this summer.”

“Victoria has been a great sitter and I would love to use her again in the future. She provided several updates throughout the stay, and was very attentive. One of our pets experienced a medical emergency and she was able to take them to the ER vet and get them the care needed. I’m not sure what we would have done without her!”

“Lyla did a great job: she was willing to come meet the pups beforehand, showed up on time to house/dog sit, sent photos and updates, and left the house and dogs clean and happy. We hope to use Lyla for future dog care needs and highly recommend her to others.”

About: I've taken care of dogs pretty regularly, from chihuahuas to great danes. I work well with senior dogs just as well as energetic young dogs :) I'm an online graduate student with an internship in Vancouver, but my schedule is pretty flexible. I'm almost always open on weekends as well. Whatever fits you needs. I have a fenced in yard at home, and food is usually separated from my other pets' food and typical routines to limit interaction. At a clients home, I work hard to keep the home pristine and keep an eye on your pets wherever they go.
“Jan and Paul have our business as long as they are in the biz!!! Our two dogs and one cat adore Paul so very much and we know they’re in great hands with them.”

“Prompt communication. Daily pictures during overnight stay. Loving care for my large sized dogs ( Golden Retriever and Bernese Mountain Dog). Respectful of our home. Left behind home as expected. Thank you Sylvia”

“Trace was fantastic with my two dogs Dobby and Bing. He is very hands on and will take care of the pups like his own. He has experience with large dogs which was imperative for us. I highly recommend Trace and would definitely request his company for the pups.”

“Extremely appreciative and pleased with Ingrid's house sitting! She promptly responded to all messages, provided reassuring check-ins, and carefully looked after our neurotic (reactive) Mini Aussie.”

About: In my life I’ve taken care of 3 mid sized dogs as well as around 8 cats. I’m new to the profession pet sitting and care aside from friends and family but I know that for the rest of my life I want to spend time with our animal friends and learn more about them! I have full availability with scheduling. I have transportation to do in house visits but pickup and drop offs might get difficult depending on the size of your dog. I can make regular stops at your place to do check-ins/feedings/walks. I would be able to do longer visits if needed or even overnight if available.
About: I am a kind and loving mother, teacher, and experienced pet care provider with a lifelong passion for animals of all kinds. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs, cats, birds, and other furry friends, always treating each one with the same love and attention I give my own family. My clients value my reliability, trustworthiness, and genuine heart for animals. Whether it’s playtime, snuggles, or special care, I strive to make every pet feel safe, happy, and loved while their family is away. I am a teacher so I am available for care in the afternoons after 4pm, and weekends. As well as holidays, school breaks and summer. I have a fenced yard and live walking distance to a few nature trails and local parks for keeping pets exercised. I have a very sweet dog to keep your pet company, as well as a large multilevel home to provide space and separation if that is what your pet prefers.
About: Hello! I was raised around livestock and animals my entire life, and I have experience in the care of both large and small animals. I’ve provided care for dogs, cats, and farm animals—both big and small. I worked in a farm store for many years, some of which I was as an Animal Health Specialist, allowing me to broaden my education on various pet and farm animal care levels. I was raised around high-drive dogs, so I have experience with and an understanding of high-energy dog breeds as well. One of my passions involves helping to foster and home puppies for a herding dog organization, so I have plenty of experience with the young ones! I'm just a girl who loves being around animals and providing excellent care for them. My schedule is very flexible and open which allows me the opportunity to be able to look after and care for your furry loved ones! Offering animal care in your pets own home allows your pets to feel comfy, safe & secure! I keep all my animals big and small very happy and spoiled and you can expect me to do the same with your loved ones too!
About: I have been caring for animals for most of my life and truly enjoy spending time with them. I’m attentive to their needs and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away. I take pride in being reliable, gentle, and patient with every animal I care for. During summer I have lots of free time, so pet care fits easily into my daily routine with feeding, walks, play, and weekly cleaning tasks. I provide safe, attentive care in clients’ homes, follow instructions closely, keep routines consistent, maintain cleanliness, and ensure pets feel comfortable and secure. I don’t pet sit at home.
“Veronica was great! We hired her to watch our dogs while we attended a concern. Our dogs took a liking to her right away and she sent us updates when we were at the concert. Thank you Veronica!”

“We very much appreciated Krystal’s thorough messages, daily photos and videos. She kept us well informed of how our dogs’ were coping (thriving) in our absence. We hired Krystal to sit our dogs for a couple of nights; she snuggled them, and allowed them to share her bed - just as they do when we’re at home. In addition, Krystal kept our home very clean, was punctual, and we found her to be extremely professional. We highly recommend her and plan on utilizing her services again in the future.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sara
Emma is so kind and friendly - listened greatly to the needs of our dogs and took amazing care of them! One pup surprised us with an ear infection before we had to leave and she was able to give the medicine to them during the stay. She was super flexible and able to stay later than expected due to my flight delays which took a lot of stress off! I can’t say thank you enough!! Would 100% reach out again if I need a sitter in the future! Very trust worthy!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Sara
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 4,480 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sara. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sara walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sara maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sara choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sara. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
