“Amy kept my daughter’s dog and my dog for a week. It was obvious the pups were having a good time by the photos she sent us. I left her a lot of instructions and she followed them exactly. One of our dogs has a physical issue and she was great about separating the two types of food and so forth. Amy stayed in my home and she left it in great shape. Clean and tidy. I would highly recommend that if you’re looking for a sitter, Amy is excellent.”

“Nancy was so phenomenal! She was extremely communicative and sent tons of photo updates. She was also very accommodating to our last minute addition of a fur baby to our reservation. Would absolutely hire her again.”

“When Kelly first came to meet our girls she was understanding and patient with our dogs. My oldest Zola tends to be overprotective of me when others are around, she shows it by barking constantly. Kelly was gentle and knew how to engage. During her day with our girls she sent us pictures and videos of my girls! She also communicated with us while we were away on how they were behaving and what they were up to! Thank you Kelly for caring for our girls!”

“Victoria has been a great sitter and I would love to use her again in the future. She provided several updates throughout the stay, and was very attentive. One of our pets experienced a medical emergency and she was able to take them to the ER vet and get them the care needed. I’m not sure what we would have done without her!”

“Lyla did an incredible job! She gave me updates and was flexible with my crazy schedule. Overall she brought a lot of peace while I was out of town. Just knowing that my dog was so well taken care of. Thank you Lyla!”

“He did a great job taking care of Oliver while we were away for the week. He sent daily updates and photos, which we really appreciated, and it was clear that Oliver was well taken care of. He was also respectful of our home and left everything very clean. He even washed the sheets and towels he used, which was a nice touch. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would definitely recommend him as a dog sitter!”

“Anthea did a great job. She took wonderful care of our pets and house. She kept us updated while we were away. Our pets were happy and content when we returned home. We would definitely book her again.”

“Extremely appreciative and pleased with Ingrid's house sitting! She promptly responded to all messages, provided reassuring check-ins, and carefully looked after our neurotic (reactive) Mini Aussie.”

“Kylie did an amazing job watching my girls!! She took good care of them and provided me with updates whenever I wanted and checked in with me on her own (including sending photos). She left my house immaculate (especially being here 2 weeks) and she is incredibly kind and thoughtful! I highly recommend her for others looking for a pet sitter and will definitely request her when I need a pet sitter in the future!”

“Jan and Paul are the gold standard when it comes to pet/house sitting. Kind, reliable, clean, etc. I never worry when I leave my home and critters in their capable hands.”
“Mary house sat for us and took care of our two pitbulls while we were on vacation! The house was in great condition when we got home and she sent photos of the dogs while we were away. I would book with her again!”

“Roree did a great job with our pup Lulu, and we'll definitely have her back. She was communicative, asked questions when she had them, and was clearly attentive to our little hairball, who can be a lil nut on occasion. We strongly recommend her!”

“Venessa was nothing short of amazing. We last minute needed someone to stay with our dogs for a day while we were at work and she answered the call! I was sent pictures of my 3 fur babies all day with constant updates and communication. I will without a doubt be calling on Venessa again when we need someone to stay with the dogs.”
About: Since I was 17 years old I have loved taking care of pets. I have a majority of experience in dog sitting but I have cat sat for family friends over the last couple of years. Whether it has been family, friends, or even roommates, I have dog-sat for long and short periods for a wide variety of dogs and dog personalities. I have done my time doing the typical neighbor dog walk in my hometown, but as I have gotten older and lived in other parts of Oregon I've had more diverse experiences. One terrier who I have the most pet-sitting experience disliked touching and getting pets, but I still gave him plenty of walks, play, and quality time. I love pet sitting because they provide a huge impact to everyone who wants to leave their pet in good hands. I am new to the Vancouver/Metro area, looking for work all around. I might be working for a non-profit 4 days/week, but I am available. Overall I have high weekend availability and would love to watch your dog! For house sitting I will follow any specific instructions as needed. Whether it's related to dinner, doggy bedtime, or a walk routine I can assure that the pets will be in good hands.

About: Hello! I have grown up with animals (dogs, cats, & more) and am currently a paw-rent to an Australian shepherd/cattle dog mix & an orange tabby cat. Our rescue pup came with some pretty severe reactivity issues that we continuously spend time working on and training. This challenge has made me learn and grow so much as a pet parent and in turn, a pet sitter! I am always the designated pet-sitter for friends and family, and I love it! Outside of my own, I have had experience with lazy and chill animals, as well as reactive and/or hyper. I myself love the outdoors and would be happy to bring your fur baby on walks or hikes, short or long. I am also available for long term care and/or home visits. I am comfortable with all sizes and personalities, and have experience with senior (cat) care, and administering oral medication (dog & cat). I am here for you and your pets needs, whatever they may be! I am currently available every day of the week to meet your and your pets needs! I prefer weekdays in the mornings/afternoons before 5pm but am flexible would be happy to work out anything that would fit your schedule best! Your pets safety is my top priority! Whether I am sitting in your home or just out on a walk or hike, they will be protected.
“Salem always goes the extra mile, but this time was exceptional. I made a mistake on our reservation dates, and our poor kitty would have been without food! Salem jumped in early to save her. We are so grateful!!!”

Highly recommend Isabelle! Our pup was super comfortable with her and seemed his normal happy self when we returned home. Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 4,478 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sara. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sara walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sara maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sara choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
