About: I've taken care of dogs pretty regularly, from chihuahuas to great danes. I work well with senior dogs just as well as energetic young dogs :) I'm an online graduate student with an internship in Vancouver, but my schedule is pretty flexible. I'm almost always open on weekends as well. Whatever fits you needs. I have a fenced in yard at home, and food is usually separated from my other pets' food and typical routines to limit interaction. At a clients home, I work hard to keep the home pristine and keep an eye on your pets wherever they go.
“Extremely appreciative and pleased with Ingrid's house sitting! She promptly responded to all messages, provided reassuring check-ins, and carefully looked after our neurotic (reactive) Mini Aussie.”

“Veronica was great! We hired her to watch our dogs while we attended a concern. Our dogs took a liking to her right away and she sent us updates when we were at the concert. Thank you Veronica!”

“This is the third or fourth time Paul has sat for our dog and we always know she’s in great hands with him. Jan sends frequent video and photo updates so we feel connected. The house is immaculate when we return and even the house plants look like they’re in better shape after a week with Paul 😄”

“Lyla did a great job: she was willing to come meet the pups beforehand, showed up on time to house/dog sit, sent photos and updates, and left the house and dogs clean and happy. We hope to use Lyla for future dog care needs and highly recommend her to others.”

“When Kelly first came to meet our girls she was understanding and patient with our dogs. My oldest Zola tends to be overprotective of me when others are around, she shows it by barking constantly. Kelly was gentle and knew how to engage. During her day with our girls she sent us pictures and videos of my girls! She also communicated with us while we were away on how they were behaving and what they were up to! Thank you Kelly for caring for our girls!”

“This is our 2nd time having Sylvia stay with our dog and she was great once again. Lola was well cared for and happy during our vacation. We will continue to book Sylvia for her excellent skills and care of Lola!”
“Chase did a great job sitting for us while we were out of town. We got plenty of updates and pictures throughout his stay with her, and she enjoyed her time. Definitely appreciate the after visit summary he provided.”

“Krystal was so thoughtful and caring with our pups. Both dogs have very different personalities and can be sensitive. She took time out to cater to their individual needs and earn their trust. Krystal was very good with maintaining open communication and check ins throughout the day with pictures. She left our home as good as she came into it, maybe even better. Thanks Krystal!”

“Anthea did an amazing job watching our pets while we were away for the weekend. She is extremely thorough in her care, both for the dogs and our house. She followed our normal routine to perfection and our pups were very happy with the care they received (which we could tell by the updates/pics she sent throughout the weekend). We are grateful to have found Anthea through Rover and we’d absolutely hire her again (and recommend her to friends).”

About: I have been caring for animals for most of my life and truly enjoy spending time with them. I’m attentive to their needs and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away. I take pride in being reliable, gentle, and patient with every animal I care for. During summer I have lots of free time, so pet care fits easily into my daily routine with feeding, walks, play, and weekly cleaning tasks. I provide safe, attentive care in clients’ homes, follow instructions closely, keep routines consistent, maintain cleanliness, and ensure pets feel comfortable and secure. I don’t pet sit at home.
About: I’ve been dog sitting for different families for about two years and have really enjoyed it. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe and comfortable when their owners are away, so I do my best to keep their routines consistent and give them plenty of attention, care, and affection. Whether it’s feeding, walking, playing, cleaning up after them, or just spending time with them, I treat every dog as if they were my own. Families have trusted me to care for their dogs, and I take that responsibility seriously. I do work part time, I work full 8 hour days on Thursdays and sometimes Fridays. The other days I work 5-6 hours. I’m usually off around 4:30 or 5 but my start times vary. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I do my best to keep their routine as normal as possible. I follow all instructions provided by the owner, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medication (if needed), and any special care requirements. I make sure pets have plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship while also respecting the client’s home and keeping it clean and secure. My goal is for both pets and owners to feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for while they’re apart
“This was the second time Frances house sat for me and cared for my furbabies. My girls absolutely love her and Frances takes such good care of them and my home. Frances goes above and beyond, making sure I always know how they are doing. I’ve never had to ask for updates, she just gives them in just the perfect time. I feel so lucky to have found her!”

“Brandon stayed with our senior pups for an overnight trip. He was very communicative and sent photos to let us know how our old boys were doing throughout the stay! It was our first time leaving them and I was nervous to do so, but Brandon’s updates put my mind at ease. He followed all our instructions and gave them their medications. When we returned, the dogs were happy and healthy and our house looked great! Looking forward to having Brandon back for a longer stay.”

“Kaitlyn put my mind at ease while I was out for the day! I will definitely hire her again. I especially love that she sent me update pictures of the pups! We’ll see you next time, Kaitlyn! 🐶🐾🖤”

“Maureen was a total trooper! My house was undergoing construction and she took it in stride. While my kitties were mostly not around, I knew they were in great hands with Maureen. The house was spotless when I returned. The kitties were safe and healthy. I will book with Maureen again!”

“Sarah was awesome!!! It was clear from the second she met the dogs that they loved her. She is a natural with dogs and took extra special care of them. Our dogs are everything to us and knowing they were in such good hands and care allowed us to enjoy our time away. Thanks again Sarah!”

Nancy is simply the best! She instantly fell in love with our tuxedo kitty, Ranger, and gave him wonderful, loving care. She was attentive to details and kept us updated through text messages and photos. We had peace of mind knowing our kitty was in great hands with her, and we will definitely Invite her to come back again the next time we go out of town. She also left our home very tidy and clean.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Pioneer walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Pioneer maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Pioneer choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Pioneer. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
