“Ashley was an Amazing person to stay with our GiGi. It was nice to receive pictures of them playing and going on walks. It gave us a piece of mind that she was with someone whom she liked and Ashley made her feel loved that she didn't miss us to much while we were out of town. We will for sure be using Ashley services in the near future. Thank you Ashley !!!”

“Dyanna was great and my dog had a great time with her while I was out of town. She sent updates, followed the instructions we left, and we came home to a tidy house. We will definitely be using her in the future.”

“Lacey did a great job caring for my cat and dog. She got the dog out for walks daily, rain permitting. My cat warmed up to her nicely. She was a lifesaver letting me go help my brother after surgery. Only negative. She missed trash day, but no problem, I had room for 2 weeks to fit.”

“Jeannette is THE BEST! I was gone for 3 nights and felt at ease and comfortable having her stay at my home with Henry. She sent me pics every day, throughout the day, of their adventures. I’ve had others watch Henry, but Jeannette is BY FAR my number one choice from here on out. Selfishly I don’t want anyone else to hire her so that she can always be available for me (just kidding? Lol).”

About: I have many year of pet caring under my belt! I have two dogs of my own, one of which with special needs. I have been left in charge of my pets before and have shown that I am trusted to handle everything. I have experienced training both of my dogs, and have been in charge of administering insulin of my special needs dog. I have dog sat for my friends and neighbors in the past, and they have been very happy with results. I will treat every animal and house with respect, like they are my own. Thank you for consideration in keeping your beloved animals safe!! I am a college student that is home for the summer working and internship! My schedule is somewhat flexible but on my work days they run pretty long. Dog walking in the morning or early afternoon is something that would work with my schedule. Any house sitting needs work during the week, and can be a little different on the weekend but it can still work! I will respect every home that I am invited to for dog sitting needs. I will be cautious of entering the home making sure all animals are secure and we have no escapees! I only offer out of home sitting, meaning no animal will be taken out of their own house for sitting. If your animal needs to be crated or other special accommodations please do let me know and I will make it happen!
“Erin took wonderful care of our girl Tinky! We came home to a happy and secure girl. Erin is a good communicator, conscientious, and dependable. It is evident that she loves animals. I was able to relax knowing that our crew was safe and taken care of.”

About: I have owned multiple dogs growing up and have such a deep love for them. I have three of my own and we spend our days going on walks, hikes, and taking fun trips to Starbucks for pup cups. I’m a SAHM so I have open availability. I prefer to do drop ins and walks while my toddler is sleeping or napping but still more than happy to accommodate to what’s better for your fur baby. I have a fenced yard where pups are able to run around until they hit the floor. I am very attentive and like to be involved with my pets whether it’s playing fetch, running around with them, or simply just being outside with them while they are outside. There is very little time when they are out of my sight.
About: I have been petsitting for family and friends since I was in highschool, and it has been a passion of mine ever since. I really enjoy meeting new animals and getting to see different breeds and personalities. I don’t mind cleaning up messes and doing what needs to get done. I aim to do everything to the best of my ability, for my safety and the safety of other animals. I have basic knowledge when it comes to giving medicine and working with older dogs. I don’t know how to train puppies unfortunately, though I have cared for some in the past. I work during the day around 5-8 hours on weekdays, and own my own online shop. I am very flexible, and can alway make time to check in. The hours I am available vary but I am free most nights and most weekends. I always ask to know the vet office my clients go to and always have it on hand just in case of an emergency. I know things happen in the blink of an eye and always keep an eye out for the safety of the pets. I want my clients to have peace of mind when they leave, and know everything will be handled. I try to be as respectful as possible to the space, and leave it in the condition I found it in if not better.
“Nate and Kate are fantastic. They stayed at our house for a week and took care of Kaley, our soft coated Wheaten terrier and Kiwi, our parrot. Kaley is getting older and is on meds. Nate and Kate made sure she was well taken care of. I highly recommend Nate and Kate.”

About: For the past two years, I have been the go-to pet and house sitter for my family members whenever they travel. I have hands-on experience caring for dogs of all shapes and sizes—from small, high-energy pups to large, gentle retrievers. Because I often care for family pets, I treat every dog with the deep affection, patience, and high level of responsibility that a true family member deserves. In addition to standard pet care, I am experienced with overnight house sitting. I understand how important it is to respect a home, keep things clean, and maintain a secure environment so you can travel with a peace of mind. Whether your dog requires long, active walks to burn off energy, strict adherence to a feeding schedule, or just a calm, comforting presence to be with, I adapt quickly to whatever routine keeps them happiest. I know how tough it can be to leave your pets behind, so I always make it a priority to send regular updates and cute photo check-ins! As a college student, my availability is largely open and highly flexible, especially during the summer months. I am fully available on weekends and can easily adapt to your pet's specific routine. Because my schedule allows for flexibility, I can provide plenty of dedicated playtime, consistent attention, and reliable care for your pup throughout the week and on short notice! Safety is my priority when caring for pets. In a client’s home, I ensure all doors and gates remain securely locked, closely follow all feeding and care instructions, and maintain a clean, and safe place. I keep a watchful eye during outdoor walks to ensure your pup stays safe and comfortable. Additionally, I am a proactive communicator and will always provide you with regular text updates and photos so you can have total peace of mind while you are away.

“Camille did a wonderful job dog sitting our 13 year-old Lab for five nights. She communicated with us at least daily and followed feeding, medicine, and exercise instructions. Plus, the house was quite clean when we returned. We are looking forward to having Camille take care of our dog during future trips.”

About: I’ve had dogs and cat for the last 7-8 years. They have been so good to us and we’ve enjoyed them more than I imagined. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Santa Maria walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Santa Maria maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Santa Maria choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
