Brittany is quite the trooper. Our pup is going through that nipping land shark phase, and she's very understanding of that. A heart of gold.

Jeannette is THE BEST! I was gone for 3 nights and felt at ease and comfortable having her stay at my home with Henry. She sent me pics every day, throughout the day, of their adventures. I’ve had others watch Henry, but Jeannette is BY FAR my number one choice from here on out. Selfishly I don’t want anyone else to hire her so that she can always be available for me (just kidding? Lol).

Lacey did a great job caring for my cat and dog. She got the dog out for walks daily, rain permitting. My cat warmed up to her nicely. She was a lifesaver letting me go help my brother after surgery. Only negative. She missed trash day, but no problem, I had room for 2 weeks to fit.

About: I have owned multiple dogs growing up and have such a deep love for them. I have three of my own and we spend our days going on walks, hikes, and taking fun trips to Starbucks for pup cups. I’m a SAHM so I have open availability. I prefer to do drop ins and walks while my toddler is sleeping or napping but still more than happy to accommodate to what’s better for your fur baby. I have a fenced yard where pups are able to run around until they hit the floor. I am very attentive and like to be involved with my pets whether it’s playing fetch, running around with them, or simply just being outside with them while they are outside. There is very little time when they are out of my sight.

About: I have many year of pet caring under my belt! I have two dogs of my own, one of which with special needs. I have been left in charge of my pets before and have shown that I am trusted to handle everything. I have experienced training both of my dogs, and have been in charge of administering insulin of my special needs dog. I have dog sat for my friends and neighbors in the past, and they have been very happy with results. I will treat every animal and house with respect, like they are my own. Thank you for consideration in keeping your beloved animals safe!! I am a college student that is home for the summer working and internship! My schedule is somewhat flexible but on my work days they run pretty long. Dog walking in the morning or early afternoon is something that would work with my schedule. Any house sitting needs work during the week, and can be a little different on the weekend but it can still work! I will respect every home that I am invited to for dog sitting needs. I will be cautious of entering the home making sure all animals are secure and we have no escapees! I only offer out of home sitting, meaning no animal will be taken out of their own house for sitting. If your animal needs to be crated or other special accommodations please do let me know and I will make it happen!

About: I have decidedly taken the entire summer off from a corporate job to recalibrate myself. With that being said, my time has opened up to provide the sweetest care for your pets. I have my own two dogs that I've loved and raised for the last 13 years. I have been with them through their puppy training, medical needs as they've gotten older, and become versed with the emotional labor that comes with owning aging pets. I am also an amateur photographer so you will absolutely be receiving a great number of photos of your pets while under my care. I have decidedly taken the entire summer off from corporate work, so I have the availability to provide pet support with the fullest of care and attention. I have my own two dogs that I've loved and raised for the last 13 years. About: I have owned dogs and cats all my life. I could not imagine life without them as members of the family. I offer a warm and loving environment where your pets needs will be met. I primarily take care of one visiting family at a time to maintain a calm and peaceful environment. I am responsible, reliable and trustworthy. Your babies will be safe and lovingly cared for by me. You can trust your pet(s) with me. Your fur babies safety, happiness, comfort and well being are top priorities while they are in my care. I will send you videos and photos on a daily basis. I would love to care for your larger dog but they must be gentle with my little girl. I look forward to providing a loving home experience for your fur baby. I am retired and spend most of my time at home. We spend time in the yard, sniffing and running after the ball. We take walks and relax together. If I need to run an errand they are safe and secure inside and not left outdoors. I am used to dogs sleeping on my bed. If you prefer them to be in their own bed or crate that works as well. My yard is fenced and dig proof and lots of exercise is provided. I care for only one dog at a time. I do not leave dogs outdoors unattended. Besides our playtime l like it to keep things calm. I make sure animals feel safe, comfortable and cared for. If I am housesitting for you and your pets I will follow your instructions and care for your home and pets as if they were my own.

About: I have watched over pets basically my whole life. Growing up I have had an array of different pets. Dogs, cats, chickens, lizards, ducks, bunnies, snakes, goats, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, and birds. I love animals so much and love spending time and playing with them. I am also a very active person so I love taking dogs out on walks and to the park to play. I am a full time student athlete. Weekends are what work best for me or even the evenings on most weekdays also work very well. I have a good sized yard. I love going out on walks, I will always be up to play and give belly rubs. About: My name is Debbie. I live in a house with a fenced backyard with lots of grass. Your dog will be well cared for and treated like part of the family! I grew up on a ranch and have cared for many different animals over the years. I’ve had dogs my whole life. I have experience with blind and deaf dogs as well. I have one dog that is 5 years old. He is fun and loving. He is a medium size dog who would love a playmate on the weekends! I often take my dog to the dog park or to the beach for walks and play. Your best friend would be safe and have lots of love here. If you’d like more information just ask. I am available weekends and some afternoons/evenings. I offer doggy day care or overnight care as well. Let me know what your pets needs are. I have a fenced grassy back yard with shade. Pets are also allowed in my house. If your pet sleeps in a crate I can do that or if they sleep on the couch or a bed I can do that as well. I am flexible with their needs.

I was so happy when I got home from a long day away and found that my babies were so lovingly cared for by Laurie and Reese. Think Teddy found a great playmate with Reese, that when Laurie and Reese left he started barking at the door. My dog never barks, so I think a hi-five and honors go to this happy pair. Thanks again so much.👍

FAQs for House Sitting - Orcutt

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Orcutt on Rover is $45.51 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 407 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Orcutt. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Orcutt walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Orcutt maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Orcutt choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Orcutt. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
