About: Hello! My name is Karissa and I am a big animal lover. I've had dogs and cats my whole life, and have always enjoyed spending time with and caring for them. I have trained and competed in agility with my Australian shepherds, and I have worked with and trained dogs of all ages. I have also cared for and loved many cats (both my own and for clients and friends). When I played varsity polo for Virginia Tech, my team was charge of all aspects of care for our 16 horses during the school year. I have ridden and cared for over 100 horses since I was young. Through these experiences, I have administered medications, handled behavioral issues, fed a variety of foods, and cared for and diagnosed illnesses and injuries. My goal is to make sure your pets feel safe, cared for, and loved while their favorite people are away. Your pet should feel like they are on vacation too! Because I offer care in your home, I strive to ensure that you and your pets feel safe, respected, and cared for. I emphasize safety, privacy, cleanliness, and happy animals. Especially with the temporary change in caregiver, I believe it is extremely important to maintain the routine your pets are used to while you are away, with maybe a couple extra treats (with permission, of course) :) Above all, I adhere to the care rules and instructions given to me, because you know your pets better than anyone.
About: I’ve spent more than 35 years caring for cats and dogs, including two German Shepherds, four Shelties, and my current cat—who adopted me after I found her asleep on my bed one day and she simply never left! I understand that every pet has a unique personality. Some cats want affection and playtime, while others feel safest hiding, and I always respect their boundaries while making sure they have fresh food and water, a clean litter box, and a comfortable environment. I’m equally at ease with dogs: I’ve trained dogs to sit, stay, lie down, and heel; I’m patient with teething, rambunctious puppies; and I love taking older dogs on relaxed walks where they can sniff and enjoy the world. What sets me apart is my experience, attentiveness, and genuine affection for animals—I take the time to understand what makes each pet feel happy, secure, and cared for. About: I grew up with my Australian Shepherd, who was part of my family my entire life, and I helped care for her throughout her senior years. I now have my own cat, Emerald, and my family recently welcomed a terrier puppy named Edna. Trisha was fantastic. She took such good care of our cats while we were away. Every day, in addition to feeding, water, and litter, she played with and snuggled them. She even helped us with watering my daughter’s herb garden. Trisha also sent detailed notes and pictures. We could tell they were happy and well-cared for when we returned.
