“Fantastic dog sitter! Kiara responds quickly to any messages and we loved getting pictures of our dog while away. Our dog looked happy when we returned--we've already booked Kiara for a couple more weekends!”

“Emma took great care of my dog Buddy! She kept us updating by sending pictures and messages to check in! She was great at responding and looks like Buddy had a great time. Would definitely book again!”

“Ace had a wonderful stay with Robert! He kept us updated throughout the stay with messages, photos, and videos, which gave us so much peace of mind. We unexpectedly got stuck an extra day due to travel, and Robert was incredibly accommodating—he worked with us to extend Ace’s stay and even helped make sure he had enough food. When we picked Ace up, he was happy, well cared for, and clearly comfortable. We’re so grateful for Robert’s flexibility and excellent care, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again. Highly recommend!”

“Diana is friendly, caring, responsible and she is a great dog sitter. She sent photos and videos everyday and went above and beyond to take care of my shiba inu. In addition, her dog Wendy was a wonderdul playmate for my shiba. She provided a safe, clean and fun environment for the care of my dog.”

“Doreen has cared for Lola three times now, and I wouldn’t hesitate to leave her with her again. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your dog as if it were her own, Doreen is that person. She is kind, attentive, and genuinely loves dogs. Knowing Lola was in such caring hands gave me great peace of mind while I was away. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving dog sitter.”

“Elvia and her family are wonderful. Chloe had the best time!!! Chloe is definitely looking forward to going back to Elvia. Thank you for taking such great care of Chloe ❤️❤️❤️❤️”

“Paola did a wonderful job of taking care of my 7 year old dog while I was out of town for about a week. I missed him a lot, but she was lovely to share updates and photos of him. I would definitely be happy to leave Tito with her again in the future.”

“Rich was great. We received photos daily of Bo who looked super happy. Rich was also very prompt to reply to any messages we left for him. We had a very good experience and will definitely consider using him again.”

“Peter was really great with our dog Chessie! She was happy when she got home which doesn’t happen at the other boarding places. He sent pictures and updates of her playing with him. I’ll definitely be using Peter from now on! Highly recommend.”

“Jordan is pleasant and responsive. Latke was returned happy and healthy. He let me know that he had another booking that would overlap mine, which turned out OK but would have been an issue if the dogs didn’t get along. His apartment is small and it would have been difficult to keep the dogs separated. Also I would have appreciated more photos, especially on the first day with the other dog. He responded promptly with pictures when prompted. Overall, I would recommend him.”

“Excellent experience!! Photos, videos, updates on sleep, potty, eating, drinking, everything! I felt totally comfortable and relieved knowing my Bernie was in good hands!! I’ll be rebooking for sure, thank you for the care!!”

“Raymond and his family were fantastic with our puppy golden doodle. He provided daily updates and pictures and went above and beyond with incorporating the pup into their family activities and routine. We were nervous to leave our boy for the first time, but the experience with Raymond and family could not have been better”

“Daniel was amazing with Lilo and Kylie! He sent lots of pictures and updates that really put my mind at ease. It was clear my dogs felt comfortable, safe, and cared for the whole time. I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. Highly recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Rye
Natalia was absolutely wonderful with Phil. She was so caring, loving, and attentive, and she sent us pictures and updates several times a day. Knowing that Phil was so happy, comfortable, and loved made us feel completely at ease. We never worried about him because we knew he was in the best possible hands. We are so grateful for all the love and care she gave him. Thank you so much, Natalia!!

Karine is awesome! She is extremely organized and communicates really well. I felt confident that my pup was in good hands. He was reluctant at first but settled in nicely and enjoyed his stay there. We already have plans to return. We were very pleased with the planning, experience, knowledge, communications, thoughfulness and care they showed.

We had an amazing experience with Diane! From the moment we dropped off our two senior dogs (ages 12 and 14), we knew they were in caring and capable hands. Diane sent regular updates throughout the day, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear from every photo and message that our dogs were comfortable, relaxed, and truly felt at home. One of the sweetest surprises was how wonderful Diane’s two boys were with our dogs. They clearly enjoyed spending time together, and it was heartwarming to see them playing such a positive role in our dogs’ care. Diane’s home is incredibly welcoming and comfortable for dogs, and everything she says in her profile about caring for senior dogs is absolutely true. She understands their unique needs and gave them the patience, attention, and love they deserve. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely book with Diane again. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and attentive dog sitter!

Alexandra took great care of our dog Phoebe while we were away and sent lots of photos. She welcomed Phoebe into her home and treated her like her own. When our flight home was delayed, even though Alexandra was unable to extend the dog-sitting by a day (because she was going away herself), she was willing to drive Phoebe to our neighbor’s house before she left so Phoebe wasn’t left without a place to go.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
