“Shawn is great with Max, my cat. Max has diabetes and has to eat before he can have his insulin. Max can be fussy sometimes with his food, and Shawn has made it a point to make sure he eats his food. He has gone so far as to spoon feed Max! He really does take good care of Max!”

“Tara’s the best! Always takes great care of our fur babies. We had a family emergency and needed our pets taken care of. She helped us out last minute. She’s always reliable. Thanks Tara!”

“Amandine has a great sense for animals and their behavior. She was very patient with my stand-offish kitty and with my approach to introducing new folks to my cat. A true Gem! Highly Recommend!”

“To say Leigh went above and beyond would be an understatement. She was excellent with my cat. Leigh is patient, accommodating, and was able to interact with my shy cat almost immediately. She pointed out some potential issues and gave suggestions on what to do. She was great, and I very highly recommend her!”

“Claudia is the best cat sitter we’ve ever had. She catered to exactly what Riley needed while we were gone, which was just some extra love and affection. She was so attentive and communicative and we are so grateful.”

“She took care of my puppy very well and always pay attention to his conditions. My puppy seems to become friendly with her and I can feel easy to ask her to take care of my puppy and go to business trips.”

“Cristin was a great sitter for drop-in visits with my cat! My cat Kairi seemed comfortable with her while I was away. Very attentive to her needs while respecting her boundaries as a shy cat. She was great with providing daily updates and photos. Would recommend!”

“Rachael made stops during my wedding weekend to check on our cat and she was simply amazing. She gave great updates making us feel confident that our cat was safe, healthy, and getting some good company during our very busy weekend. If you need a pet sitter in Rachael’s vicinity, she is the best candidate. We are so grateful!”

“Alyssa is amazing! She was very responsive and organized. She took good care of our cat and left detailed visit notes. She was our first Rover cat sitter experience and we were glad that we were able to have her taking care of our cat while we enjoyed our vacation. Will def rebook with her for our future trips.”

“Jalyne was wonderful! This was my first time using this app and I was very comforted by her communication and updates for my cat Silver. She left pictures for me and notified me when her check-in began. I would be happy to have her again :)”

“Andrea was amazing! She immediately put me at ease when we met her, asked all of the right questions and was so sweet to our two cats. I appreciated Andrea's thorough communication while we were gone (and she even sent me a note the day before we left confirming timing for the next day, which I really appreciate!) She was on-time for our visits and sent lots of info and photos. I will definitely book Andrea to watch our cats again! Thanks Andrea <3”

“Carol was amazing and patient with my spicy diabetic cat Mooka. She is definitely comfortable around animals and knows how to gain their trust being calm and gentle. I would highly recommend her for your pets visits and needs.”

“Susan is wonderful! She was so kind and patient with our sweet but anxious 14-year-old cat that we felt comfortable going away. Susan was such a pleasure to deal with, and she was very responsive and dependable. She kept us in the loop after each drop-in, giving us all the details about her visit. We can’t thank Susan enough and would definitely ask her to cat sit again without any hesitation!”

Christie is simply the best! My kitty had an eye problem while I was away and Christie expertly troubleshooted it with such care and compassion. She truly loves animals and is very knowledgable. We are so fortunate to be in touch with her - we’ve used other sitters when Christie is not available but there is no comparison. 100% recommend!

Ruth has been a trusted carer for my pet rabbit Brownie! We felt at ease when traveling and knowing Ruth will take good care of her. She is very communicative, attention to detail, and always goes the extra mile to make sure Brownie is comfortable and well cared for. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful pet sitter!

This was Jason's first drop-in visit with our two Great Pyrenees dogs and our Maine Coon cat. The boys met Jason at his meet-and-greet visit about a week in advance and the boys loved him from the moment he walked through the door. He's very comfortable with our big boys (115 pounds and 140 pounds!). Jason, overall, is fantastic-- professional, thoughtful, conscientious, and just a great guy. He followed all of our instructions to the last detail. We already have more days booked with him. It's such an enormous relief to find him so the boys can stay home together rather than staying at the kennel while we go out of town. Highly recommend him!

Euree is an awesome sitter! Quick communication and everything went smoothly including the initial greet and meet. Even though my cat is super shy and immediately goes into hiding upon seeing strangers, Euree always made an effort to find him and include a photo to let me know Mocha is doing well. Will book again in the future :)

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rye. On Rover:
- 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
