“Sheldyn is so great with our puppy and has been really flexible in spending time with her however she needs - a walk, playing inside and outside, feeding her, etc. We feel so much better her leaving her for work knowing that she will get an enriching, loving visit from Sheldyn in the middle of the day! She keeps us informed, asks questions when needed, and sends lots of pictures 😍”

“Natalee came to assist us so quickly when a family member was in the hospital and we needed someone to care for our dog at home! She is responsive, engaging, and our dog was so happy to see her! I would use Natalee for a drop in visit, or overnight stay anytime!”

“Gabbie is great! My pup is pretty shy and going through some health concerns. Gabbie was attentive to what my dog needs, has been consistently on-time and has built up trust with her in the span of a week. Sadie seems really excited when Gabbie comes by and seems to enjoy their mid-day play sessions!”

About: I have always been passionate about animal care, specifically dogs. I have 3.5 years of veterinary technician experience and have also worked at boarding facilities such as Pet Paradise. I am a student at Saint Louis University majoring in Biology, furthering my education in animal behavior. I enjoy jogging in my spare time, and have the stamina needed to play with or jog with pets. I am available on weekends during the day and most evenings. There’s nothing I love more than taking care of pets! I look forward to taking care of your fur babies! I am a current graduate student, and therefore am working several hours a day during the week, but I am available most nights and on the weekends anytime! I am a helicopter parent when it comes to my own dog, and treat other pets with the same level of care and caution. I love sending pictures (if allowed) to ensure great care, and frequently keeps owners updated on how their fur babies are doing.
“Katie looked after my 3 cats for drop in visits and was excellent! She was able to do medicine for the little one and everyone was happy when I got home.”

“Excellent and very gentle with my ailing elderly dog with KD and dementia. After numerous cancellations on another site, rover.com came through in a big way with Haley the day before my family trip and I am very grateful I could enjoy my family vacation feeling good that Haley was sitting for my Bella and Prudence. We have our go to sitter from now on!!!”

“Sarah was extremely responsive and helpful. She takes the absolute best photos, and I was certain my cat was in the best hands. Highly recommend her to anybody looking for a pet sitter”

About: Coming from an animal loving family and already volunteering part time at the Humane Society, I just can’t get enough of walking dogs — especially big ones ! My family’s dog, a total mixed breed that we raised from a puppy, is a modest 80 lbs. Before we got him, I grew up with a border collie and a cattle dog mix, so I deal well with high energy breeds. I’m happy to take them on 2+ mile walks multiple times a day. I have always had dogs, so I have a lifetime of experience raising, training, and taking care of them. I currently work part-time as a French teacher, frequently online, so I have a lot of free time to spend with your pet. Plus, if I am staying long term at your house, my students will love to see your pet pop up on my Zoom video! I can adapt to whatever your pet needs. If you have a pet that just needs feeding and a potty break/litter box scooping, I can provide that. If your pet is a little needier and needs playtime, ear rubs, and someone’s lap to sit on, I’m also eager to provide. I understand that each animal is different.
“Hope did a wonderful job checking in on my Marca. Sent a bunch of pictures for me and communicated clearly what she did while at my place. Would book again!”

“Samantha and Christopher were top notch dog sitters for my family. I wasn’t worried for a second away that they weren’t in good hands. From daily videos to full summaries of the day, it was so comforting to know our dogs were in good hands. Reliable and overall amazing duo!”

“Alicia took great care of my cats when I was out of town! She was punctual, respectful, and communicated well from the moment I sent the booking request. I came home to happy cats, highly recommended!”

“Madeleine was amazing! This was my first time using Rover and she was extremely responsive and a great communicator. I felt super comfortable while I was away knowing that Madeleine was taking care of my pet.”

“Caroline has done drop ins with my dog quite a few times now! She has been great updating with any concerns and has gotten along great with my dog. She was very patient with my dog when she first started doing drop ins as she can sometimes be a little anxious with new people but she warmed up quick after our meet and greet and by the end of the first drop in (which she stayed longer for!) Would recommend, she’s been very good at following any instructions I have, and after several drop ins I definitely trust her a lot!”

“Ross did a great job with our two cats. He provided exactly the care we requested and spent time playing with our young cat to help her get out that pent up energy! He also provided superior communication. We greatly appreciated his sitting services”

“Great communication! She sent loads of pictures and a detailed account of visit every day. She spent quality loving time with my cat. I didn't have to worry in the slightest. Highly recommend!”

“Everything was phenomenal. I could not have asked for a better dog sitter. There’s no question you should hire this lady. She is top-notch! Even did me a huge favor!”

About: Hi, I'm Gracie! I do home remodeling & carpentry things for work, but my number one passion is in taking care of animals. I also travel pretty frequently and because of that, I’ve found this platform invaluable. So aside from wanting to meet and hang with your cute pets, I’d love to return the favor and help out fellow pet owners! Especially in those dire, last minute boarding/sitting situations. (been there 😅) Growing up, my family fostered retired racing greyhounds so I’m very comfortable around sensitive and unsure dogs. For several years I worked and lived on various animal farms- all of which had/bred livestock guardian dogs that I worked very closely with. I am experienced in senior care and administering medications (including injections) to all sorts of animals. I work for myself doing residential carpentry and remodeling, so my schedule is very flexible and I’m usually available for last minute bookings. I also never work very far from home. Your dog’s comfort and safety always come first. Dogs are welcome on the furniture and even the bed if that’s what they’re used to at home, and I have several dog beds set up around the house too. I also have a large crate available if your dog needs a quiet, secure space to settle into. I keep a close eye on dogs at all times, dog-proof the areas we’re in, and make sure fresh water is always available.

“Olivia did a great job of checking in on my two cats while we were on a short vacation. She made sure that they were happy and sent us lots of cute pictures of them!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Richmond Heights
The sitter we had used for our previous out-of-town dates was not available to do the daily visits for our 2 kitties. I was a little nervous about using a new person. However, after meeting Alyssa, we immediately felt at ease. She was extremely dependable and communicative during our time away (1-1/2 weeks).

We were thrilled with the time Sarah spent on our cats! They love attention so it was much less stressful coming home from a trip knowing that they were well cared for and attended to. They had plenty of food, clean water, and the litter boxes weren’t overflowing, what more can you ask for!

Nat was absolutely wonderful with my kitties! She spent quality time with them, played with them, and always sent me pictures and thoughtful updates about their disposition and how they were doing. She went the extra mile to learn exactly which food each kitty received and the best times to visit. She even rinsed out the wet-food cans before discarding them and ran the garbage disposal so the apartment wouldn’t smell like stale cat food. When I came home, everything was incredibly clean and smelled great—and, most importantly, my kitties were completely stress-free and well-adjusted, as though nothing had changed at all. That kind of care and peace of mind is priceless. Thanks so much, Nat! You’re the best cat sitter I’ve ever had!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Richmond Heights. On Rover:

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
