“This was our first experience with having a pet sitter stay in our home and it was a great one! Marlies checked in with us while we were away, made sure our dog had her medicines on time, left the house in great shape, and was quick to respond when we had questions. Our dog doesn't enjoy being in traditional doggie day care type boarding locations, and Marlies was a great alternative for us!”

“Regina is the most amazing sitter we’ve ever had. She’s so genuinely kind and caring. We’re so grateful that she kindly accepted to help us at the very last minute and turned out to be the best Rover experience we’ve ever had. Highly, highly recommend ?”

“Connor is such a polite and sweet person. He took good care of our babies. He is the first sitter besides friends and family we’ve trusted to take care of them and we couldn’t be happier.”

“Amy did a wonderful job with our 2 dogs, and also took on some kittens I was fostering! She met with us and the dogs beforehand so they were familiar with her, and now consider her one of their best friends! House immaculate, mail brought in… highly recommend Amy.”

“Keri was a wonderful sitter for our 4 girls. She followed all instructions and even had to deal with our 3 big storm fear girls in the middle of the night when a thunderstorm moved in. Everyone had their calming treats and got settled in. We communicated frequently since this was her first time to stay at the house and I am a nervous momma. I got pictures and updates and it was wonderful. We will definitely be using her again.”

About: Hi! 🥰 My name is Rachael! I am a very energetic, patient, and creative person who lives to love and be around animals. Dogs are my favorite animal! I have cared for animals for 13 years. I’ve grown up around many other animals as well and cared for them. Such as cats, fish, and some reptiles. I do offer to bathe your babies if needed. With me, your children will receive appropriate care. Personally, I'm an organizer, planner, and multitasker, and always just a phone call away, face time is also available so minimum supervision is required. With all my skills and experience, I'm able to provide a supervised, safe, fun, and stable environment for your sweet babies!! I look forward to hearing from your families soon! 🐶🥰 I’m currently enrolled at James Madison High School. I do have a lot of free time right now until I reach my money savings goal to continue school. I’m not providing care for animals in my home right away but will provide care in my home as soon as possible for both cats & dogs.

I recently retired, so I have plenty of time to walk, play with and care for your pets. I am available most days with notice. I have two dogs of my own, so I can crate dogs and walk them. My dogs are an 85 lb, chocolate lab named Tripp and a yorkiepoo named Roxy. I loved to cuddle with and love on pups and cats.

“Tori did an amazing job watching our animals. She went above and beyond to take care of our fur babies. We got regular updates and pictures and she always kept in contact with us. We will definitely be using her again!!”

“Maria was so great! We were nervous leaving our dogs for a week especially as one has severe anxiety/fears, but Maria made them both so comfortable! She also kept the house clean and orderly. Her communication while we were away was perfect and we received lots of cute pics of our pups! Will definitely trust Maria the next time we go out of town!”

About: I’ve had dogs my whole life. Each of them have something different that makes them lovable and special. Watching or walking dogs never seems to be a job for me because time goes by fast when you are having fun! I, myself had a German Shepherd, he passed away this last December. I work from home, just need wifi to hang out with your babies. I take meetings occasionally throughout the day, woofs and pets are always welcome. I have a two mainecoon cats. Both are very social and friendly. They both have been around a fair share of dogs and even a parrot.
About: I’ve always loved being around animals and, since I can’t have my own dog while I’m in college, I love any opportunity to spend time with them. I’m going into my senior year at Texas A&M in the Mays Business School and have a flexible schedule this summer in the Bryan–College Station area. I have 8 years of hands-on experience caring for dogs and pets of all sizes, ages, and personalities. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me to walk, feed, play with, and care for their pets like they’re my own. From energetic puppies to older dogs, I always make sure pets feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. I have a flexible schedule with plenty of time for pet care. I’m available most weekdays and weekends for drop-in visits, and I always make sure pets get consistent, timely care. I always prioritize your pet’s safety and comfort. I carefully follow all instructions, keep a close eye on pets during visits, and make sure they feel secure and relaxed. I respect your home and keep everything clean, and I’m happy to send regular updates and photos so you feel at ease while you’re away.

“Sarah was exceptional. I honestly couldn’t be more pleased with the care she provided for our dogs. We have a Dutch Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix and a Chihuahua mix, and she did an amazing job with both of them. She was incredibly thorough, communicative, and responsive throughout the entire stay. She sent some absolutely incredible pictures that gave us peace of mind and showed just how comfortable and happy our dogs were in her care. Unfortunately, our dogs decided to be a little naughty while we were away and made quite a mess. Sarah cleaned up everything without complaint and went above and beyond what I would ever expect from a dog sitter. That level of dedication and care says a lot about the kind of person she is. I can’t say enough good things about her. She treated our dogs like they were her own, and it was obvious she genuinely cared about them. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, dependable, and caring to watch your pets, I highly recommend Sarah. We will absolutely be booking with her again”

“Kayleigh, Thank you so much for loving our fur babies! You were amazing! Beau and Bella were so happy to see is and it was you who made this trip worry free!!! Thank you!”

“Courtney was a wonderful dog sitter that we would recommend to anyone looking for the best care for their pets. Courtney went above and beyond to make sure our pets were safe and cared for and keeping constant communication throughout the week on how they were doing.”

“We were very happy with Joleen’s care of our cat and house while we were away. She took such great care of Kit Kit who is not the most social or friendliest cat around, otherwise known as a PIA. We received picture updates and were so surprised how she had the cat eating out of her hand in no time. The house was immaculate when we returned… we couldn’t ask for anything more. You will never want to use anybody else!”

“Carlos really helped us out in a pinch with a last minute booking. He was very communicative, flexible, and great with our high energy dog. He also left the house nice and clean. I would definitely book again.”

“What a sweet lady! From the moment she first met Luke I could tell she was going to be great, she went straight to him and started peting and caring for him, what else can I dog mom ask for? Kinsleigh was courteous enough to stay in our house while we had a very late event across town. When she left in the morning, the house was tied up just the way we left, Luke was fed and had already taken his potty break. My baby looked happy and we will definitely ask Kinsleigh to watch Luke again.”

About: I've been taking care of pups for over 15 yrs now. At first my own pups, but then I would help out friends and family with their pups while they went on vacations and/or traveled for work. My family says I have a kinship with dogs as most dogs naturally get a long with me. Sometimes I can calm the most excitable pup and have them relax in my lap. I work pretty early in the morning. I'm usually home by 10-11 am. I have a pretty good schedule regarding feeding and potty breaks. I tend to take the pups out for walking and play I have a fenced back yard and a dog park near by. I can take your fur babies to the park or on walks regularly. I currently have 2 pups myself, they are well trained and have a pretty steady routine (food and potty breaks). They get along well with other dogs, no biting or aggression. They do set boundaries though. NO humping.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Princeton
We had a wonderful experience with Regina! This was our first time leaving our senior Newfoundland with someone new, and she immediately put us at ease. She was kind, attentive, and clearly cared about making sure he was comfortable and well looked after. Bruno has a few special needs and routines, and she was patient, asked great questions, and followed instructions carefully. We received updates while we were away, which gave us tremendous peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy our evening knowing he was in good hands. We came home to a happy, relaxed dog, and that’s the best review we can give. We would absolutely trust her with Bruno again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring pet sitter.

We had an excellent experience with MarinaRae and would highly recommend her as a cat sitter. She kept us informed throughout our trip with regular updates and photos, which gave us great peace of mind. Our cats were clearly well cared for, happy, and comfortable when we returned home. She also left our house in fantastic condition — clean, organized, and exactly as we left it. It’s such a relief to find someone reliable, communicative, and genuinely caring. We will absolutely use MarinaRae again!

Renee was simply put, AMAZING! She stayed in touch and sent photos of my dogs. When we got home from our weekend trip, the house looked just like we left it. I gave her a 5 star rating but should be a 10 star rating. I almost don't want to leave this rating as I know she will start booking up and I may have trouble getting her again. I highly recommend her!

Nakiyah was an absolutely amazing pet sitter! She took such great care of my dog, sending me frequent photo updates so I could see how happy and comfortable he was. She even took him to parks for walks and playtime, which he loved! I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such caring hands. I highly recommend Nakiyah to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive, and loving sitter.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Princeton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Princeton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Princeton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
