Louann took amazing care of my dog and home while I was away on an international family trip. She made sure my pet was comfortable and provided consistent communication and updates so I was informed and sure everything was fine while I was away. Couldn’t recommend Louann more!

We were very happy with Joleen’s care of our cat and house while we were away. She took such great care of Kit Kit who is not the most social or friendliest cat around, otherwise known as a PIA. We received picture updates and were so surprised how she had the cat eating out of her hand in no time. The house was immaculate when we returned… we couldn’t ask for anything more. You will never want to use anybody else!

Connor did a wonderful job house- and pet-sitting for us for last 10 days. He cared for our dog and cat as if they were his own and tended to our small jungle of plants with great attention. We returned home to thriving greenery, happy fur babies, and even a freshly vacuumed house! We will definitely call on Connor again for any future trips that take us away.

Our fur babies took right to Regina and her son( he came over twice, I believe). Very thankful that she was at the house when the storms rolled through. No issues/problems. Took care of our dogs as if they were her own. Will definitely be keeping her number for future use!! Easy to talk with.

It has been a little while since Monique last pet sat for us. Our dog is very reserved so I expected it would take her some time to warm back up. As soon as Monique stepped out of the car, her entire back half of her body was wagging. She was so excited to see her. We have full peace of mind when our dog stays with Monique. She listens, communicates well, and gives our dog tons of attention and love while we are away. We highly recommend her!

What a sweet lady! From the moment she first met Luke I could tell she was going to be great, she went straight to him and started peting and caring for him, what else can I dog mom ask for? Kinsleigh was courteous enough to stay in our house while we had a very late event across town. When she left in the morning, the house was tied up just the way we left, Luke was fed and had already taken his potty break. My baby looked happy and we will definitely ask Kinsleigh to watch Luke again.

Finding Addison was truly a blessing. Our original pet sitting plans fell through at the very last minute, and I was so fortunate to find her when I did. From the moment I met her, I just had a great feeling. She has such a kind, calming personality, and all of my dogs immediately took to her—which never happens! They’re usually very reserved with new people and take time to warm up, but with Addison it was instant. That alone gave me so much confidence. Throughout our trip, Addison kept me updated every single day without me ever having to ask. She sent photos, shared what the dogs and cats were up to, and made me feel like I was right there with them. She followed every instruction perfectly and honestly went above and beyond in so many ways. One of the sweetest surprises was coming home to little things she had done around the house that I never asked her to do. She even emptied the dishwasher and put all the dishes away. When I thanked her, she said her mom always taught her that after a trip, people should come home to a clean house so they can truly relax. That really touched me. Kudos to Addison—and to her mom—for raising such an incredible young woman. The greatest gift she gave me was peace of mind. Knowing my dogs and cats were loved, cared for, and genuinely enjoying their time with her allowed me to fully enjoy my vacation without worrying about them. That’s priceless. I already have another trip planned, and Addison will absolutely be my first choice. I cannot recommend her highly enough. She exceeded every expectation, and I am beyond grateful to have found her.

About: I have 9 years of pet care experience with my own dog, other people's animals, and as a volunteer at the SPCA of Texas. I have taken care of many animals in my years of pet sitting in including dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys, and guinea pigs. It is not easy for animals to scare me. I'm currently working a part time at a veterinary hospital and going to school part time. I'm not a very busy person, so I will have plenty of extra time to look after your furry little family member. I keep dogs on a leash at all times when walking. I like to follow a list with times for when certain things need to be done. I like to try and keep a schedule that is close to what each pet is used to on a daily basis.

About: I have had pets my whole life. I have been around dogs and cats and have taken care of friends and family's pets. I currently am fostering a friend's two cats while they get back on their feet. I have a corgi that I have had since a puppy and two cats. I currently work Monday-Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm. I can provide pet care anytime after that and on weekends. I am not available for overnights as I have children that need me. If a pet comes to my home I have a fenced backyard with a corgi that loves other dogs and cats. I have plenty of dog and cat toys. My cats, also, don't mind other pets.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Kristie! She took absolutely incredible care of our three dogs and treated them like they were her own. It gave us such peace of mind knowing they were not only safe and well cared for, but genuinely loved while we were away. Kristie also looked after our home with the same level of care and attention. Everything was spotless and exactly as we left it when we returned. On top of that, she was unbelievably flexible and accommodating when our travel plans changed at the last minute. She handled everything with professionalism, kindness, and zero stress. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and truly compassionate to care for your pets and home, Kristie is the absolute best. We had a wonderful experience with Regina! This was our first time leaving our senior Newfoundland with someone new, and she immediately put us at ease. She was kind, attentive, and clearly cared about making sure he was comfortable and well looked after. Bruno has a few special needs and routines, and she was patient, asked great questions, and followed instructions carefully. We received updates while we were away, which gave us tremendous peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy our evening knowing he was in good hands. We came home to a happy, relaxed dog, and that’s the best review we can give. We would absolutely trust her with Bruno again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring pet sitter.

Keri was a wonderful sitter for our 4 girls. She followed all instructions and even had to deal with our 3 big storm fear girls in the middle of the night when a thunderstorm moved in. Everyone had their calming treats and got settled in. We communicated frequently since this was her first time to stay at the house and I am a nervous momma. I got pictures and updates and it was wonderful. We will definitely be using her again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Princeton

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Princeton on Rover is $49.35 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 3,147 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Princeton. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Princeton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Princeton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Princeton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Princeton. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
