Conner was awesome! We are new to Dallas and Texas! Finding someone to trust enough to stay in your home and watch your furry loved ones is so hard!! He communicated great, sent pics, made sure she got her cancer meds, and frankly exceeded my expectations. He will definitely be our go-to guy from now on!

Amy does a fantastic job caring for both our babies. We’ve had her watch my bully breed dog and our kitten a couple of times now with no issues so we can enjoy our trips without worry. Would recommend for anyone who wants to ensure their pets are not only safe, but loved.

I admire their obedience and loyalty and it’s something I feel we almost don’t deserve. I will take good care of anyone’s dog and treat them as my own. I would love to help you out and I have trusted services! I currently am a full time teacher so can care for dogs based on a 8-5 work schedule. I can also break away for 30 minutes for lunch. My weekends are free so I can do stays. I am willing to dog sit over nights will just have to leave for work. My summer are open other than shifts here and there at my serving job. My home consists of 2 dogs and 2 cats that get non-stop love, exercise, and treats! Your dogs will receive care and attention like mine do!!

We were very happy with Joleen’s care of our cat and house while we were away. She took such great care of Kit Kit who is not the most social or friendliest cat around, otherwise known as a PIA. We received picture updates and were so surprised how she had the cat eating out of her hand in no time. The house was immaculate when we returned… we couldn’t ask for anything more. You will never want to use anybody else!

About: What sets me apart as a pet sitter is the level of genuine care, patience, and attention I give to every animal as an individual. I don’t just “watch” pets—I focus on understanding their routines, personalities, and comfort needs so they feel safe and relaxed while their owner is away. I’m especially attentive to animals that need extra care, including senior pets who may require a slower pace, medication reminders, or gentle handling, as well as younger pets who need structure, supervision, and consistent training support. I’m calm and patient with all temperaments, including anxious or high-energy pets, and I adjust my approach based on what each animal needs. I also take safety seriously by closely following instructions, maintaining a secure environment, and watching for any changes in behavior or health. My goal is to provide dependable, compassionate care that gives both pets and their owners peace of mind. Daily basics: feeding, fresh water, walks or litter cleaning, playtime and quick health checks. Dogs may set the pace for morning/evening walks. washing bedding, deeper cleaning cages, restocking food or meds, and longer exercise or enrichment sessions. “I provide a safe, clean, and calm environment for pets and follow each pet’s specific routine and care instructions. I make sure pets have fresh water, regular feeding schedules, exercise, playtime, and plenty of attention. I closely monitor behavior, comfort, and any signs of stress or illness. In a client’s home, I respect the pet’s established routine and maintain a secure environment by checking gates, doors, leashes, and any safety concerns. I also keep communication open with pet owners by providing updates and photos when appropriate.”

Keri was a wonderful sitter for our 4 girls. She followed all instructions and even had to deal with our 3 big storm fear girls in the middle of the night when a thunderstorm moved in. Everyone had their calming treats and got settled in. We communicated frequently since this was her first time to stay at the house and I am a nervous momma. I got pictures and updates and it was wonderful. We will definitely be using her again.

About: I’ve been caring for pets since I was 14, watching over dogs and cats for friends, coworkers, and family friends. Growing up in a family that always owned large dog breeds made me very comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and personalities. I understand the patience, attention, and care both dogs and cats need to feel safe and comfortable. I’m experienced with feeding, walking, playtime, and providing reliable, loving care to keep pets happy and well cared for while their owners are away. Pet care fits easily into my daily schedule as I have a flexible routine with plenty of availability throughout the day. This allows me to provide consistent attention, whether it’s morning, afternoon, or evening visits, and be reliable for walks, feeding, playtime, and any special care needs pets may have. I care for pets in my client’s home by following their routine closely, including feeding, walks, and playtime. I ensure fresh water is always available, clean up after pets, and maintain a safe, calm environment. I also give them attention and companionship, watch for any health or behavior changes, and respect the home by keeping everything clean and organized.

About: I've taken care of every kind of dog i can think of from a teeny chihuahua to my late english bull terriers and pitbulls. (childhood dogs that grew up with me). I love helping to tire a dog out with outdoor activities or lounging around based on your pets vibe or your care instructions! Me and my family have also housed a large number of fosters. While i have never housed a cat myself ive watched my friends cats consistently growing up when theyve been on vacation or i was over at their houses. PLEASE NOTE while i love all animals i cannot work with reactive or aggressive animals for both mine and your pets saftey as i dont have enough experience handling more reactive and aggressive animals. I can also help in training younger pups most basic commands and some more advanced skills. i work 6am-6pm in a corporate desk setting monday through friday, and dont have much time during the weeks but on weekends im mainky free as a bird and like to fill my days with the gym, crocheting, reading and finding new music and tv shows to explore! I can't house your pet myself but i can surely come to you! As long as you arent too far away, i'll come

About: I have been taking care of dogs and my own pet for a little over seven years now. I am most experienced with senior dogs, as most of my friends and family have older dogs with plenty of extra needs. I have fostered puppies for a few years now, and I am very well-versed in potty-training puppies as well! I currently have a full time job, Monday through Friday 8-5pm, some Saturdays 8-12pm and off on Sundays. I will be available to care for your pets in their own environment and safe place so they can feel comfortably in their own space and keep their same routine. I have a large, fenced backyard free of any harmful plants for my dog. Plenty of toys, a neighborhood perfect for walking, practicing leash training, and ample space for my pet to relax and play! I adhere to a schedule, whether it’s for my own or for my client, and I am very strict about it unless there is room for extra time depending on the dog’s mood/behavior. Very energetic, so your dog will receive proper exercise, attention, and so much love in my presence!

FAQs for House Sitting - Altoga

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Altoga on Rover is $49.54 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,621 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Altoga. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Altoga walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Altoga maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Altoga choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Altoga. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
