Pet care experience

Former vet tech and veteran

I have had pets my entire life and I have over 20 cumulative years experience as a vet tech. I love all animals and cannot image a life without having several animals living with me. I currently have 2 dogs - a female AKC Beagle and a German Shepard / Australian Shepard mix and 3 cats - an orange tabby, a seal point Siamese and a sweet DSH. All are rescue animals. Two of the cats adopted us. I have worked in numerous veterinary offices over years and had the pleasure to help out at an imaging center (MRI and CT Scans for dogs and horses) while one of the permanent employees took a short leave of absence. My experience includes exotics (avians, reptiles, primates, gerbils & rats/mice, etc.), and, of course, dogs and cats. I love being with animals. There isn't anything better in this world than an excited greeting or a nice snuggle with your furry one. I want to help you by taking care of your fur babies (or feathery / scaly babies if that is your need). You can rest assured they will get tons of play, hugs and snuggles while you are not home. I treat all animals as I treat my own. Rover is my full time job so I have plenty of time to care for your sweet babies. I will follow the owner’s routine as closely as possible. If the pets are used to sleeping in your room and, if you prefer, I can sleep in there with them. Otherwise, the guest bedroom is absolutely acceptable. NOTE: During the summer months my 10 year old son (as of 2024) may need to accompany me on some appointments. He has been helping me with Rover since he was five and is great with the animals. Micah understands how to match the pets’ energy level. Senior dogs are pet only. Younger dogs he will play with them if the pups want to.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

During the first day I give the pets space until they feel comfortable with me. Sometimes it takes a full day (this is especially true for some cats) but some pets are ready to accept me into their home the minute I walk in the door. I work with each pet's personality and act accordingly. I try to follow your daily routine as close as possible. I completely follow the pets' lead. If they want to play then that is what we do. If they want to snuggle I am always ready for it! If they want their own space I will leave them alone until they are ready to socialize again. For animals that are nervous of strangers I will sit on the couch and do my own thing speaking to them occasionally. This allows them to get used to me in their home and they will accept me when they are ready. I never force attention on any pets. I have found that this confuses them and delays the trust process. They will always come to me when they realize I am there to love and care for them.

We had a wonderful experience with Regina! This was our first time leaving our senior Newfoundland with someone new, and she immediately put us at ease. She was kind, attentive, and clearly cared about making sure he was comfortable and well looked after. Bruno has a few special needs and routines, and she was patient, asked great questions, and followed instructions carefully. We received updates while we were away, which gave us tremendous peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy our evening knowing he was in good hands. We came home to a happy, relaxed dog, and that’s the best review we can give. We would absolutely trust her with Bruno again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring pet sitter.

We can't say enough nice things about Regina. Our very picky paranoid little dog really appreciated her kindness and patience 🩷 She provided us with a lot of updates and that truly put us at ease as well. Very professional!

Regina was so wonderful with Ghost! She’s very knowledgeable since she’s worked as a vet tech, and she followed all instructions very well. She sent many videos ghost, ensuring he was being well taken care of. I definitely recommend her to anybody who wants a dog sitter!

Regina has watched our pup twice now and has done an excellent job both times. We know he’s in good hands when we have to be away. She’s a great communicator, does a wonderful job caring for our doggo, and has lots of experience.

Schedule

I love house sitting. It gives me a chance to really enjoy the pets' personalities. I try my best to adhere to your daily routine which reduces stress for the animals and allows them to accept me into their home pretty much immediately. *** I do not book house sitting appointments for more than 6 days. If the situation is urgent I may make an excepting but my rates for extended stays are accurate as listed. ***

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs

over 101 lbs
Dogs over 1 year old
Regina can host up to 1 pet per night
I love when my clients provide me with a lot of information about their pets. I am not referring to just the feeding and/or medication schedule. Please tell me things they do and do not enjoy. You can include any quirks, cute habits, and things to be aware of (i.e. the cues to go outside, etc). Please do not think you can give me too much information. The more you can provide the better I can care for your fur baby.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
