“Carl really has a lot of patience. My Emma girl is a very stressed out dog. Hope in time she loosens up and Carl becomes her best friend… of course after her Mamma. Thank you Carl for giving her love and attention.”

“Leanne has been walking our dog regularly for several months now, and we couldn’t ask for a more reliable and dependable person to care for our furry family member. Leanne tends to our dog as if she was one of her own, and is always willing to change up the routine based on our dogs daily mood (playful, hungry, ready to walk, etc). We are grateful that Leanne takes such good care of our dog.”

“Our dog, Maggie, loves Shannon! We have a high energy lab mix puppy who was having a tough time being alone for long. A weight has been lifted off our shoulders as Shannon comes to visit and walk Maggie. Shannon is reliable and super communicative! We get pictures every time along with a little summary of her visit. We feel like we the jackpot with Shannon!”

About: For the past 8 years, I have been providing off-and-on sitting, boarding, and walking care for various relatives' dogs. Through caring for family pets, ranging from energetic Boxers to gentle Cockapoos, I have gained extensive, hands-on experience handling different temperaments, routines, and unique canine behaviors. While household allergies mean I am unable to have a full-time dog of my own, opening up my schedule to part-time pet sitting allows me to bring my passion for dogs into my daily life. This setup works beautifully for my clients, as it means your dog receives 100% of my focused attention and care during their time with me, without competing for space with a resident pet. Because I am currently doing pet care full-time, my schedule is highly flexible and open. I am available throughout the day for morning, midday, and evening walks or drop-in visits, seven days a week. This open availability means I can easily accommodate your dog’s specific routine, feeding times, and potty schedule without rush. Whether you need a reliable midday walker while you are at the office, or a flexible sitter for last-minute weekend plans, I am here to provide consistent, dedicated care when you need it most. Safety on Walks & Drop-Ins Safety is my absolute top priority. When walking your dog, I practice active situational awareness—I monitor the environment for triggers like loud traffic, bicycles, or off-leash dogs well before they become an issue. I use a secure, two-handed leash grip and never let your dog off-leash in public spaces. If your dog is sensitive or easily spooked, I am happy to take quieter routes and use positive reinforcement to keep them feeling safe and secure. My Home Environment (For Short-Term Boarding) I live in a clean, smoke-free home with a secure, fully fenced yard where your dog can safely stretch their legs under my direct, 100% supervision. I do not have any resident dogs or cats, meaning your pup will enjoy a peaceful environment without the stress of competing for space. We do share our home with a few securely housed reptiles (a Ball Python, a DeKay's Brown Snake, and two leopard geckos) who live strictly inside their locked enclosures, completely out of reach of guest dogs. Because we manage a saliva allergy in our household, my home is kept exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and structured. We maintain excellent boundaries: guest dogs are kept out of bedrooms and are safely crated during bedtime or if I ever need to step out for a brief moment. Your dog will receive a wonderful balance of structure, safety, and a whole lot of love.
“Cathy is incredible! Right from the start, she offered to come meet my dog ahead of time and as soon as she walked in I knew she would be a great fit. She took the time to play with him, pet him, and let him get to know her. As a result, when she arrived to pick him up for his walk, he was happy to see her! This extra care to getting to know my dog (and letting him get to know her!) is so appreciated - especially since I have had other walkers give up on him. I would recommend Cathy to anyone who is looking for a caring and compassionate sitter or walker.”

About: I’ve loved caring for animals since I was young. We recently moved and can’t host any pets in our home anymore but would love the opportunity to care for your beloved animal family member with walks and check ins. From our experience in boarding animals at our previous home, we have learned how to care for all sorts of special needs pets including injections, helping with mobility, and providing the genuine connection all forms of life require. My priorities in caring for animals are safety, communication with the owner, and connection with the pet. It’s truly the most rewarding responsibility and I treat every animal I’m entrusted with as though they are my family. I’m currently searching for a new career which leaves me with extra time for enriching opportunities. Caring for animals has been the most rewarding work I’ve experienced and I’m grateful for every animal I’ve been able to care for. While we aren’t able to host pets in our home, I’m a great dog walker who can match pace to any animal- from jogs to joyous sprints to patiently waiting while sniffs and scents are investigated.

About: I have some experience as a child as my single mother let me have a Gerbil, a Hamster, and some fish up until I talked her into a dog when I was 16. His name was Scotty and he was the sweetest Pomeranian. -We got him from an elder who was moving into a nursing home and could only take one of her two Pomeranians that were siblings. Leaving Scotty available to adopt. We were initially told at the time he was 3, but his first vet visit we took him on they said he was 5. So we never really knew his true age. Now I have a 3 y/o Mini-Poodle who I learned about early summer of 2020-Prime COVID19/Lockdown time frame. At the time, I had been with my partner, Steve for over 2 years and was living with him and his 7y/o Rat Terrier-Chihuahua, Bear. I was jealous of their bond and wanted to add a female puppy to our family. Rory has shocked me with her talent and smarts in the last 3 years. She is sassy, smart, and sometimes can be shy and scared. I am open to discuss your want and needs and can be flexible. We take them out in the morning, afternoon, and evening’s at the very minimum. We treat our dogs as people to say the least haha. We clean their feet and wipe them if needed (girl always needs it ) after coming inside each time we take them out on their leash to go potty throughout the day. We brush them at least weekly to keep them happy and clean. My background in ABA techniques is a helpful tool to have when required.

Kace did a great job as our dog walker. She communicated well throughout and followed all instructions exactly as given. She handled both of my dogs with no issues, including my larger pitbull, which I really appreciated. She also made sure they were fed, had fresh water, and were well taken care of. Everything went smoothly and I felt confident leaving them in her care. I would definitely recommend Kace for future walks.

Lois was so great with Pepper! She has been reliable, and we have been very happy with how sweet and caring she is with our dog. We were also very impressed with how prepared she came to our meet and greet—she had all of the right questions prepared to ask us. It is very clear that she is a dog lover. We feel great knowing that Pepper has some company to visit her during the day.

Arsh was great with Zaza! I could tell as soon as he walked in that he was kind and caring. Zaza took to him immediately. Because I live in a neighborhood with no sidewalks, so that dogs have to be walked on the street, I had a fairly long list of "rules" to follow in order to keep Zaza safe from vehicles (and actually having to think through these motivated me to up my own game). Also because of having to walk in the street, I asked him to wear several forms of LED lighting after dark. He immediately understood and each time he walked her, he made sure that all of these precautions were followed. He was on time for every walk and always very congenial. I absolutely would recommend Arsh as a dog walker.

Alana waa so amazing and our dogs absolutely loved her. We've never used a service before but are so happy we found Alana!!! She completely took care of our pups from feedings to letting them out. Looking forward to being able to go out again and not worry so much about them!!!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
