“Niani took exceptional care of our two pups and home. She was patient with our anxious girl and handled medications with no issues. Highly recommend her! She’ll be at the top of our list for future trips!”

“Holly is a brilliant sitter! Looked after my dog like she was her own, plenty of updates throughout my time away, and left the house neat and tidy. Thanks Holly!”

“Alayza was very attentive and patient with my pup! Updates and communication were quick and constant. My flight home was delayed but she accommodated the unexpected schedule change. Will definitely be asking for her expertise again! My pup absolutely loved her.”

“Michael did an amazing job taking care of our two dogs while we were in DC for the day. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in great hands. Peanut and Sweet Pea were happy and relaxed when we got home - we definitely recommend Michaela!”

“Keisha saved our Christmas plans! When our sitter canceled last minute, it was such a relief when Keisha was so willing to do a same-day meet and greet, and stay with my elderly dog for the week of Christmas. She was responsive the whole time, and we returned to a happy dog and clean house. She even treated Marley to a Christmas present, which was so sweet!”

“Anh was wonderful with our dog Wilbur- she sent us updates and was really sweet to him. She stayed over at our place which we appreciated because our pup can get a little anxious. Anh left us a very nice note and left the house very clean. We will definitely be reaching out to Anh again until the future for dog care!!”

“Christina has been cat sitting my two fur babies for a couple of months when I go on business trips. She has wonderful communication and my cats (who are picky) love when she’s over. They are well taken cared of and hope to continue booking with Christina for future pet sitting needs ! Thank you, Christina !”

“Ada was amazing!! This was my first time using the App and she made me feel so comfortable. She agreed to a meet and greet prior to my house sitting dates and my dogs loved her instantly. She was very communicative and kept me informed on everything. As this was my first time leaving my babies with anyone outside of family, we were all a bit nervous and hoping this was a good match. My mom even checked in with Ada and she was totally cool with. My mom and dog both have dogs and we are pretty certain Ada has 3 new clients. Ada maintained my home wonderfully. She really was patient with and understanding and I would recommend her 10/10, especially for new clients.”

“My experience with Aiyana was excellent! She is attentive and sent lots of pictures. My dog and I are both very happy with the experience and we will be booking with Aiyana again!”

Basically if I know something about something you’ll know too. I hope that we can work together in the future to make your and your pups life easier. I also have experience with small mammals, birds and reptiles so feel free to contact me about any of your pets I will gladly help.
“Brianna treated my dogs like they were her own. I was able to relax and enjoy my vacation with no worries. In fact, I think the dogs were a little disappointed when she left and I came home.”

About: My first job was being a pet sitter in high school and I did that for about two years. Once I joined the work force, I was really focused on my career and still loved caring for animals, but didn't really have the time to do so. Now I am in a position to be able to help other working pet parents whether they need to go on a work trip or just want a vacation for themselves. I'm very good at following instructions and would love to be able to give the piece of mind that their furry family is well taken care of! I am currently a full-time worker so Monday-Friday I would not be able to be at a house all day. However, all weekends and holidays I am available all day. During the week, I am able to give my full attention after 4 p.m. Any house rules I will strictly follow and will ensure that you're fur babies are able to stay on their schedule and will receive everything they need (of course to include pet rubs and cuddles).
“Emerald helped us out in a big way when another pet sitter we had needed to drop because of a family emergency two days before our trip. We were able to get ahold of Emerald and get everything squared away to pet site for us the day before we left. She took amazing care of our pets and house.”
“Alexa was fantastic and took great care of our pup and apartment! She is responsible, organized, caring, and provides great customer service. She went above and beyond and we look forward to having her take care of our dog again!”

About: Growing up with five dogs has given me years of hands-on experience caring for pets of different sizes, personalities, and energy levels. I’m comfortable with feeding, walking, playtime, cleaning up after pets, and following each dog’s routine to help them feel safe and comfortable. Family and friends know me as someone who’s patient, dependable, and genuinely enjoys being around animals. I understand that every dog is different, and I’ll treat your pet with the same care, attention, and love I’d give my own. I have a flexible schedule and do my best to accommodate each pet owner’s needs. Whether your dog needs a walk, a drop-in visit, or overnight care, I’ll communicate clearly and arrive on time. I understand how important consistency is for pets, and I’m committed to providing dependable care while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I’ll carefully follow your instructions for feeding, walks, medications (if needed), and daily routines. I make sure doors, gates, and leashes are secure during every visit, and I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages so you know your pet is happy and well cared for. I treat every home with respect and every pet like they’re part of my own family.
About: Growing up I always loved caring for and spending time with many cats and dogs my family had. Today I live with my cat and my golden retriever. I work full-time from 7am-3pm Monday through Friday. Fridays are typically shorter days for me so I can give your pet extra care and attention through the weekend! I am fully comfortable caring for animals in your home. I am familiar with typical behaviors such as crating and feeding, and if your pet has other needs please just let me know and I will accommodate!
“Xavier was AMAZING. Did a meet and greet before the weekend so the dogs could meet him. Between then and the actual weekend, our dogs condition got worse so there was more than we initially talked about to have to do. He jumped right on it. No complaints. Sent tons of pics and updates. My pups were clearly happy and being well taken care of! Highly recommend booking with him!”

“Sherry was lovely! She stayed with our 2 dogs for a weekend and I felt like they were being well taken care of. She sent lots of pictures and provided updates throughout the whole visit. Would definitely book with her again!!!”

Kristal took great care of our two dogs, a senior dog and a five year old vocal velcro dog, and of our home while we were away. She accepted the booking on extremely short notice and was very accommodating in scheduling a meet and greet within one day of us reaching out to her. She was very communicative and sent lots of photos. I would definitely recommend Kristal to any pet parent.

Nile took excellent care of our dog Goose and our apartment while we were away for over a week. She was caring, responsive, and helpful throughout her stay. She sent us daily updates and even assisted with an apartment issue we had while we were gone. She left our apartment clean and Goose absolutely loved her! I would definitely book with Nile again and suggest her for any of your dog sitting needs.

Alayza was really responsive throughout, and sent frequent updates. I especially appreciated being able to have a meet & greet prior to booking, to ensure my pups and Alayza would be comfortable with each other (and of course they were!). We will definitely work with her again!

Emerald helped us out in a big way when another pet sitter we had needed to drop because of a family emergency two days before our trip. We were able to get ahold of Emerald and get everything squared away to pet site for us the day before we left. She took amazing care of our pets and house.
Oksana was absolutely phenomenal, and we could not have asked for a better person to care for our dogs, Bo and Kobi. She was professional, reliable, and treated them with so much care and attention. Despite the summer heat and temperatures reaching 95 degrees, Oksana consistently took Bo and Kobi on walks once or twice a day and made sure they stayed happy and well cared for. She also looked after our home and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Communication was excellent throughout, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about our dogs’ well being. We returned home to two happy pups and a house that had been well looked after. We would recommend Oksana without hesitation. She exceeded our expectations, and we would gladly trust her with Bo and Kobi again. Thank you, Oksana, for taking such great care of our family!

Kayla obviously cares deeply about pets. She checks in with me between bookings about Farah's welfare. Farah was sick this time, and Kayla kept in close touch about her symptoms. She also helped us out with running a sample to the vet and taking care of an issue for a guest in our Airbnb. She also soothed Farah when Farah was missing us. Our nervous Farah really likes Kayla's calm, loving presence.

Paige was amazing with our dogs! She sent us tons of pictures and was in communication with us the entire time she was with our pups. Paige could definitely tell how nervous I was to leave my pups with someone new and she helped ease my fears through this whole process. She was a respectful house guest and left our home neat and tidy. My pups love her and so do we. Will be booking all my future Rovers with her!!

Overall my experience with Justina was okay. There were communication issues on arrival. I set the arrival time for the booking to 6-10pm. By 10pm I had not heard any arrival update. It took over 30 minutes to get ahold of Justina, including calling the emergency support line and prepping to leave my event to go back home. The ultimate arrival was nearly 2 hours past the set arrival time and my dog’s walk window. I do understand there was a vehicle issue and that unexpected things happen but communication is key. I would have made this a 5-star review if I had just been kept informed prior to the late arrival. Aside from the arrival issue the rest of the weekend went smoothly. Justina completed all requested walks and feeds in addition to sending pictures during the day. She also left my home spotless and well cared for.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oxon Hill-Glassmanor walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oxon Hill-Glassmanor maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oxon Hill-Glassmanor choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
