“Monique is the absolute best!!! You won’t regret booking her. I was going on vacation for 8 days and Monique stayed at my place and took care of my two Pittbulls. I was very anxious and nervous for anyone that wasn’t myself to take care of my boys because one is very high maintenance. He has kidney disease so his diet is very detailed and he has had double ACL replacement surgery a year ago so his exercise is also very detailed and restricted. More than that- my dogs are both rescues and the big one gets separation anxiety from my boyfriend which has caused my dog to severely attack the other when my boyfriend isn’t around- to the point where my other dog has needed surgery. So taking care of my dogs includes a crate and roasts strict schedule and walking the dogs separately. I was full of anxiety trusting anyone with this, but literally within a day of my vacation i was at complete ease seeing how Monique was such a pro with taking care of the dogs properly and keeping them separate. Also 3 earthquakes hit in one morning while Monique was dog sitting- this caused a large storage rack in my garage to collapse and everything fell all over the place. Monique cleaned it up and organized the items that fell. Monique is going to be the only person i ever book with for my dogs.”

“Bonnie took care of my kitties (again) for an entire week, took care of my home, left everything in great shape, and even stayed an extra day when needed. My kitties love having her around. Bonnie's the best.”

“Ally was incredible with our 3 fur babies and they absolutely loved her. She provided us multiple updates and pictures throughout each day. Because we live so close to wildlife her updates made us feel at ease so we could enjoy our vacation. We definitely recommend her and will continue to have Ally care for our fur babies in the future.”

“Cielo has been taking care of my cats a few times now. I trust her and recommend her without hesitation. Thank you so much for the updates throughout. It gave me peace of mind knowing she was looking after my fur babies”

“Kat’s amazing! She took care of my two senior babies, Tez and Enzo in my home. Tez can be a grumpy old man sometimes but Kat had no issues and they got along sooo well! She made sure I was updated with pictures everyday, which definitely gave me peace of mind given I’m out of the country. I absolutely look forward to booking Kat in the future, Tez and Enzo already love her so much. Thank you Kat!! 🙂”

“Keller was truly wonderful with Pasha and Marie! I have such a hard time leaving my pets, especially because Pasha is older and has some health needs and medications, so I usually don’t feel like I have the freedom to go on trips without having so much anxiety about them. Keller really changed that for me. They were so kind, thoughtful, communicative, and attentive from the very beginning. They sent lots of updates and photos, asked thoughtful questions, and were so careful with Pasha’s routine, walks, meals, and medications. It was clear that they genuinely cared about both of my girls feeling comfortable, safe, and loved. Pasha and Marie both warmed up to Keller so quickly, which honestly says everything. Having someone I could actually trust with my fur babies made such a huge difference, and I’m so grateful we found them. I will absolutely continue using Keller to watch my fur babies and highly recommend them.”

“Samantha was great! Took care of our big ol’ GSD and would send us pictures of him. She communicated very well and was punctual. We will definitely be using her services again.”

“Ann is awesome! She sends pictures and updates and our two boxers clearly love her since they would rather sleep near her than in their usual beds. This is our second booking with her and it’s such a relief to have someone we can count on.”

“So wonderful as always! My kitties love her and every time I come back from vacation they are still so happy just as I left them :) She makes leaving my babies more manageable especially with all the wonderful daily updates, pictures, and videos! Best pet sitter ever <3”

About: My husband and I are a dedicated dog-walking team in Chino. We walk our own dog for a full hour every day after work, rain or shine, because we truly believe in the importance of consistent exercise and fresh air for happy, healthy pups. We started helping our neighbor by walking her senior dog, who doesn’t move around as easily anymore. We’ve learned how to support dogs with mobility challenges—taking things at their pace, using gentle encouragement, and making sure every walk is safe and comfortable. My wife works from home, so she’s also available during the day for one of our other neighbors. They head to work and rely on her for midday check-ins, potty breaks, fresh food and water, and 30 minutes of playtime with their pup. This has given us valuable experience providing flexible, reliable drop-in care that keeps dogs happy and their routines on track. As a couple, we bring extra reliability and two sets of eyes on your dog at all times. Whether you’re tired after a long day, working late, or just need a trustworthy team for walks, check-ins, or playtime, we’re here as your reliable local alternative. We treat every dog like our own—with patience, care, and attention to their individual needs. Our dog is a big part of our daily routine. My husband usually gets home from work between 5:45 and 6:15 PM, and then we walk our own dog for a full hour every evening, rain, or shine. Because I work from home, we can also offer flexible, daytime drop-ins for your pup-just like we do for our neighbors. We’re happy to work around your schedule for consistent evening walks, midday visits, or a mix of both your dog will fit right into our caring, active routine. We care for every dog like it’s our own – with patience, love, and close attention to their unique needs. The exact care always depends on the service you request and your dogs, personality and routine. In your home (walks & drop-ins) We follow your instructions closely. For walks, we use a secure leash and harness, go at a comfortable pace (especially gentle with seniors or mobility challenges), and always clean up after them. My wife works from home, so she can easily handle midday check-ins: potty breaks, ensuring food and water bowls are full and a small play session. We adjust based on whether your dog is indoor or outdoor - keeping them safe, comfortable, and happy either way - and send photo updates so you stay in the loop.

“Gabriela was fantastic! we have an Australian Shepherd with separation anxiety who can be a handful. He is slow to warm up to people and skittish around other dogs. He got comfortable with her very quickly and seemed very happy having her stay. Would definitely recommend and would book again :)”

About: I use to pet and babysit a lot throughout the years, sometimes at the same time. Mostly for close friends and family and it's always been very rewarding and fulfilling for me to do. My mission is to look after my clients pets as if they were my own and provide a sense of ease to pet parents while they're in my care. I've recently gone back to college and looking to work part time hours as a dog walker or pet sitter to help me get by. My classes are currently online, and I'm able to which allows for some flexibility in my weekly schedule. I like to ask pet parents to provide me with a written breakdown of everything they would want me to know about they're pet in order to care for them properly. Such as the pets temperament around other pets/animals or if there's any special accomodations needed.
“Justine was great. She did everything I asked, was responsive and left my home very tidy. She wasn't ever gone too long so my fur baby wasn't alone much which is very comforting when you're away. I definitely recommend her. Thank you for taking care of Misty!”

About: Hi! 👋🏻 From the earliest days of my childhood, I have been surrounded by dogs of all sorts. They were not just pets to me or my family, they were members of our family. Every dog I have ever owned has left a special mark on my upbringing. The memories of chasing after them in the backyard, caring for them, cuddles, and their loyalty throughout my years have all contributed to shaping the person I am today :) 💕. I’m currently working about 15 hrs a week so, I’m searching for another opportunity in the mornings-afternoons to take care of your furry ones while the opportunity presents itself. I will take care of your dog like my own! I'm dedicated to providing a safe environment for your furry friend 🐾. Your dog's well-being is my top priority. I will always maintain a watchful eye, ensuring that your dog is secure during walks and playtime. I am well-versed in recognizing signs of distress or discomfort and will respond promptly to any situation that may arise. Your dog will not only be in caring hands but also in a secure and loving environment, making their time with me a positive and enjoyable experience.

Kayla was phenomenal. The moment she met the pups her eyes lit up and I had a great feeling. She checked in many times with photos, she walked the dogs twice a day, and let me know if she needed to head out for a moment. She even watered my garden for me! She’s also just so pleasant. I highly recommend her and will definitely be reaching out for future pet sitting needs.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Ontario on Rover is $97.61 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ontario walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ontario maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ontario choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ontario. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
