“Being the first time away from our shelter pup,we were very nervous about him - if he would be well taken care of, if he would have a good rapport with his sitter, and if our sitter would even work out. Steven was amazing and allowed us to enjoy our vacation knowing Ozzy was well taken care of. He established a good relationship with him before our vacation (it helped that we had several drop ins before so Ozzy would be familiar and comfortable with him - I highly recommend doing this for any new sitter) and was respectful of our home while we were away. Thank you Steven for taking such great care of Ozzy!”

“Rachel did such a fantastic job taking care of my pup! I felt at ease the entire time. She sent lots of updates and pictures/videos of my Ellie, she even brought her some treats and a toy!”

“Kellar took great care of our pups (and house) while we were out of town! Kellar was great with updates and pictures, and was quick to check in when our old lady, Maggi, wasn’t eating (don’t worry, she was just holding out for the good stuff). Both pups were relaxed and happy when we got home - we would definitely ask Kellar to stay with Raffles and Maggi again!”

“Sara was awesome! She sent lots of pictures and updates throughout the stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. Our dog can be a little nervous with new people but he warmed up to her really quickly, and it was obvious he felt comfortable with her. So happy to have found someone we trust with our dog and would absolutely recommend her!”

“If I could leave 10 stars for Amirah, I would! She communicates very quickly, her personality is so incredibly sweet and helpful, her voice is pure puppy love!! even though we booked last minute because the other person fell through Amirah was ready and so easy to work with. She put us at ease just a few days before our trip. She did a meet and greet was very flexible with the schedule. She offered additional perks, brought doggy snacks, and toys. Sent me pictures and videos and just went above and beyond. I told my friend about her service and without even vetting her , wants to use her for our next trip ! thank you so much Amirah you made it possible for us to relax and not worry about the dogs. I got to enjoy myself because I could see how happily the dogs followed you out for walks. Normally we have to beg and plead for them to go outside for a walk, but we could see they followed with tails wagging. Till we meet again! Do not hesitate, and if you’re on the fence and want additional feedback about Amirah please reach out”

“We had a great first experience using Rover! Taryn was truly the perfect choice for our pup sitter! I was pretty nervous having to leave my puppy for the whole day but Taryn really took the best care of her. Communication was great and everything ended up going very smoothly! They played together throughout the day and Taryn even managed to give Leia some basic training lessons, which was super awesome!! We would absolutely recommend Taryn and will definitely book her again because we know our Leia will be safe and having fun!! 🐾✨♥️”

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Anthony! He cared for our severely injured pup with the utmost compassion, patience, and professionalism. From the very start, Anthony followed every single care instruction with precision, making sure our dog was comfortable, safe, and on track with recovery. Beyond just being attentive, he showed our pup so much genuine love and affection—it truly gave us peace of mind knowing our dog was in the best hands possible. It’s rare to find someone who treats your pet as if they were their own, but that’s exactly what Anthony did. We are beyond grateful for his kindness and dedication, and we couldn’t feel more appreciative. We are already looking forward to having him doggy sit for us again in the future. Thank you for everything, Anthony!”

“Hunter was awesome. He was very attentive to our fur baby and respectful of our home. Hunter also kept us regularly updated with pictures and videos so we knew our puppy was well cared for. I will definitely be rebooking Hunter the next time I need a sitter and I will recommend him to everyone ☺️”

“Gabby did an excellent job house sitting for our two large dogs while we were away on vacation. She kept us updated every day with photos and videos playing with our dogs and taking them on walks. Our dogs took to her immediately and we came home to happy, well cared for fur babies. Knowing our pups were so well taken care of allowed us to relax and truly enjoy our vacation. We would rebook with Gabby in a heartbeat for our next time out of town!”

“Shanise is going to be the best sitter you’ll ever have. She followed every instruction, sent us photos on every feeding/walking/potty time and updated us on how my dog is doing. She really helped relax our nerves while we were away from my baby boy. As long as she’s available, I would hire her to take care of my dog for the foreseeable future.”

“Wendy took such good care of my cats. I have a new kitten in addition to my two adult cats and she had to maneuver feeding them in 3 areas and spending time with each cat. They were happy and well cared for when I got home.”

“Marx took great care of my senior citizen pup while I was away and communicated effectively when he had questions, or needing clarification. I also got sick while on my travels and Marx so graciously was able to stay another day so I could recover and enjoy the remainder of my trip. My dog seemed happy and well taken care of when I returned home. I would definitely use and recommend Marx again to others.”

“Hermes was so awesome with our (challenging) dog and two cats! He watched them for two weeks and sent lots of updates and pics while we were on vacation. Our pets absolutely loved him and we felt really secure knowing they were in good hands. Would definitely book again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Claremont
Charlotte house set and watched my cat for almost 2 weeks while I was out of the country. She was very communicative and kept me well updated with pictures and videos! Also was really flexible with us the day before when my cat had a bit of a medical situation which resulted in her needing a bit of extra attention and medical care while I was away.

I was pretty nervous having to leave my puppy for the whole day but Taryn really took the best care of her. Communication was great and everything ended up going very smoothly! They played together throughout the day and Taryn even managed to give Leia some basic training lessons, which was super awesome!! Melanie was wonderful with our dogs! She made sure they were well cared for and got plenty of playtime, and we loved getting photos and videos multiple times a day — it gave us such peace of mind knowing they were in great hands. She's warm, caring, and trustworthy. I highly recommend her for dogsitting!

Lily is wonderful as always! She is the only one that my kitties always feel comfortable around, they really love her. I can always relax on vacation knowing that she is taking care of my kitties. She sends the best pictures and updates as well. Always highly recommend her!

Thank you Kellar for taking such good care of our senior pup! We were nervous about going away for the weekend and leaving our dog at home since he is starting to show his age. Kellar was great about sending us updates and taking extra special care of our dog when he had some anxious nights while we were gone.

Marx took great care of my senior citizen pup while I was away and communicated effectively when he had questions, or needing clarification. I also got sick while on my travels and Marx so graciously was able to stay another day so I could recover and enjoy the remainder of my trip. My dog seemed happy and well taken care of when I returned home. I would definitely use and recommend Marx again to others.

Amirah was absolutely wonderful. We were away for two weeks and she took care of our animals like they were her own. She sent pictures and updates every day, she communicated and made such an effort to meet the needs of our animals and also fulfill all of our requests. We were able to enjoy our time away knowing our animals were happy, healthy, cared for, and in good hands. We cannot thank her enough and we highly recommend to anyone looking for some one to care for their fur babies.

Myra was able to handle my crazy calicos and my chinchilla with no problem! I have yet to find a pet sitter who is so detailed, care oriented, and well versed in exotic pets. She even gave my cats a nice groom! My medium haired looks fluffier than ever :). As for my chinchilla, I usually have to sweat over the fact that people have never even seen one before. She knew exactly what to feed him, pet him, clean his cage, and he was the calmest I’ve ever see him post trip. Left the apartment and litter boxes immaculate! Will be booking again.
Rachel was absolutely amazing from start to finish! She was very prompt with her response to my initial query, quickly scheduled a meet and greet, and came prepared with questions. She is very professional, reliable, and absolutely loves animals. Buster had a great time with Rachel! She stayed with him for three days and I came home to a spotless home and a happy dog. She reviewed all the instructions in depth and consistently provided me with updates and cute little videos of Buster. I will absolutely be using Rachel again in the future and can wholeheartedly recommend her to others.

We recently had Charlotte stay in our home for four days to watch our dogs, and overall we had a positive experience. She’s a young college student, very sweet, and affordable, Our dogs were clearly well cared for and kept company all weekend. She sent daily pictures of the pups and when we got home, the dogs were happy and completely exhausted from all the attention and activity! The house was left clean, and she even made the bed before leaving, which was a thoughtful touch. Overall, she’s a great sitter who kept our pups happy. 💕 We’d recommend her to anyone looking for an attentive in-home sitter that gives dogs lots of companionship.

Simply put LIANNA IS THE BEST!! I totally forgot to leave Lianna a review the first time she cared for my beloved pup for me but on both occasions she has been exceptional. She is so accommodating, responsive, responsible and trustworthy. My dog adores her and it’s clear to see from the videos she takes for me. I feel so lucky to have found Lianna, you couldn’t ask for a better sitter. If you’re reading this, look no further and just do yourself a favor and hire Lianna!

Dana and her boyfriend Tom were great. Our dog, Sadie, was very comfortable with them and it was obvious that they liked her. Dana is very easy to talk to and was willing to do whatever we asked of her. I recommend Dana to anyone without reservations. We will definitely book her again if we need a sitter for Sadie. It was our first experience with Rover. It was a little confusing for us when we first tried to book Dana but with Dana's guidance it worked out fine.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Claremont walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Claremont maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Claremont choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Claremont. On Rover:

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
