“Very attentive care for my timid cat. Followed all the care instructions very exactly and made sure to seek out my cat in hiding to confirm all was well. Recommended!”

“Tara is extraordinarily helpful. I needed someone to visit my cat short notice, and she was on her way to my house within a few minutes. Tara loves pets passionately and it shows in everything she does. She is tuned into cats and gives Jim Catsby so much attention in ways that he enjoys—petting, brushing, etc. Awesome! 10 stars!”

About: I have over 13 years experience doing vet assistant and vet technician tasks and skills as a volunteer at The Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge, IL. I have been employed as part of the membership and philanthropic department at Lincoln Park Zoo from which I learned a great deal, stemming from my biology classes on taxonomy to zoology, to specific animal facts and conservation of threatened animals. I therefore know a great deal of educational background on animal behavior. I studied psychology and comparitive human psychology/animal behavior with a bachelors in science from IIT. I have grown up with dogs, cats, and ferrets. At Southwest Animal Care Center, I bathed, fed, walked, medicated, and cared for boarding and patient animals. I graduated with my veterinary assistant certificate in 2018. After graduating from IIT, I became a kennel attendant and learned a great deal about how to care for animals. Pet care is a daily task for me as I take care for two little fuzzbutt ferrets, Icarus and Agatha. Icarus often wakes me up with his bushy tailed excitement. I'm lucky to have such wonderful critters in my life. Right now, I am only offering dog walking and off-site at client's home services. From what I've read from the anthropologist book "Inside of a Dog" by Alexandra Horowitz, animals, especially dogs, crave human attention so being attentive to an animal's needs is to me, what's most important. This includes communicating with animals to know when they need a bathroom break, when they want play, when they want affection and cuddles, when they want nappy time, being fed according to what their schedule is, and of course, offering healthy treats (if allowed) and new novel smells, toys, etc. I can manage 4-5 walks per day with one or multiple dogs at a time 5-6 days a week. This is my main job and I'm dedicated to providing top care as if they are my own. I take extra care to be a courteous and contentious guest in the owner's home. I treat my stay with respect and humbly care. You can trust me to provide excellent care and keep everything tidy and clean.
“Colleen did an Excellent and detail attention to my cats, timing, activities with them, and duration of each visit exceeds my expectations! I will definitely look for her next time.”

About: I love dogs. I have had one Doberman, one mutt who was the best, and two English Mastiffs. I had a dog everyday of my life until five years ago when my 200 pound English Mastiff named Max died. It broke my heart and hasn't felt right to replace him. But I love dogs and cherish watching the relationship people have with their dogs. I say hi to every pooch on the street that I pass. Rest assured, your dog will be treated with the utmost friendliness and care imaginable. I work from home so your dog will always have a friendly companion around. A side note. No Pit Bulls, No Rottweilers, No Stafford Terriers, No Husky of any sort, and No Doodles of any sort. I'm sure if any of these five dogs are part of your family that you are a wonderful person and so is your dog. However, they are far from my cup of tea. I work from home. I'm home basically all the time. And other than that, I just work on landscaping my front and back yards. I have a fenced in yard. Your pet is in great hands. I work from home. “We booked Patrick to come for our advanced aged dog who had special food and medicine needs. He was wonderful and patient with her as she can be a cranky old lady 😄. He was prompt, stayed in contact with us and sent messages and photos of each visit. He even gave our kitty attention which is no easy task because he is a hard one to pet 😄😄 If you are looking for a responsible pet sitter, Patrick is your guy 👍🏻”

About: I have had dogs many years. We have had different kinds of dogs, such as Rottweiler/German Shepard mix, medium and small. Sat for senior dogs needing a little extra help with ambulation and medication. We have two energetic -boys to play with and take for walks around the dog friendly neighborhood. We have one healthy 17 year old Dachshund in home now that we adopted, who has been with us for over 12 years, who warm ups with guest dogs pretty quickly. Looking forward to have different dogs to share our love and time taking care of them. Took a from ROVER sitting when a kitten adopted our family and we needed to learn to care for cats. Ready to reconnect with dog again. Family oriented care for dogs of all sizes and breeds. Looking to walk or drop in care. Flexible once we meet the pet and owners. Will walk and go into home as requested. High energy or snuggles as needed to accommodate the needs of the dogs and keep them safe while caring for them.
About: I absolutely love all animals, especially dogs and cats! I have experience dog-sitting and dog-walking in the past, and I would love to expand and sit more frequently!! I am currently a college student, meaning the summers I have a lot of free time on my hands! I do not have a summer job this year, meaning I have a lot of time to pet-sit! I do not offer pet-sitting in my own home, as I am a student living with my family. I am very clean, and will always keep client's homes tidy and left the way I came! When caring for pets, I always follow client's feeding/walking schedules, and play with them!
“I will never go to another sitter, ever! She takes care of my cat who is an absolute terror to people, and Ethel is bery kind to her. She goes above and beyond every time I have her!”

“Melissa was super flexible and accommodating! She took such great care of my puppy & put my mind at ease by providing me updates during the check-in! She always had her own backup supplies just in case!”

“Wow! Amanda took such great care with our mature dog. I was apprehensive (no terrified) to have anyone take care of him but we were stuck and she saved the day!!! She was a great communicator, made sure to give him his meds and even gave him a little walk. Amazing!”

Katherine took exceptional care of my cats while I was away. It gave me real peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. My cats were happy, well-fed, and clearly received plenty of attention. I would absolutely trust Katherine again and highly recommend her services.

This is our second time having Keira care for our cat Bela and we are just as happy if not happier this time (if that's possible)! She is very thorough, caring, clean, friendly and really takes her time playing with our very energetic big fellow! We are very happy with Keira, and highly recommend her, we will definitely request her again! Bela misses her already!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
