Hello! My name is Shayna and I'm originally from Michigan. I currently work as a kennel manager and dog trainer and handler for an environmentally based company near Chicago Ridge, IL. I've worked here for 7 years and am a certified instructor in both dog and cat CPR and First Aid. I've taken classes in dog training, including leash walking skills and manners in the home. I've also worked a lot with reactive dogs and can confidently handle dogs of all sizes in public using a positive training philosophy. I am fully bonded and insured.

Shayna is an incredible pet sitter. She has cared for our dogs before, but this time, one of them became seriously ill just hours after she arrived. She handled the situation with such professionalism, taking our pup to the ER immediately, and now he’s on the road to recovery. Her quick thinking and experience went far beyond the standard level of care, and we feel incredibly lucky to have had her looking after our dogs. If you’re looking for a highly experienced and dependable pet sitter, I can’t recommend her enough.
Shayna did a phenomenal job! She met with us to get to know the dogs as we have a reactive dog. When I tell you our dogs love her it’s an understatement. She gave them love as if they were her own.

Schedule
I've had pet dogs and cats my entire life, but first got my own personal pet about 10 years ago, a senior cat I adopted from a local shelter. He passed away in 2020 but I used to take him on walks frequently with his harness which he loved and can take your cats out on walks too if they are leash trained! I also often take dogs from my work home with me so my home is well set up and pet friendly. I have a whole set of grooming tools for brushes and baths and can even brush teeth, trim nails, and clean ears for the well behaved pup. I do not take any work pups home when boarding a client. I foster kitties through St. Sophias and often have a foster in the home. I use baby gates to keep overly interested dogs separated when needed but any boarder can not be truly cat aggressive.

My work schedule is both full time and flexible! I live less than 10 minutes from my job and can stop by home pretty frequently (every few hours) when needed. I make my own schedule weekly and can adjust as needed as long as l have approximately 1 week's notice, and sometimes even less than that!
Pets
A typical day
My neighborhood is quiet and very dog friendly, with dog parks and forest preserves nearby. For shorter stays, twice daily walks around my neighborhood for about 30 minutes are guaranteed, and for longer stays trips to the local trails! Fun games of fetch in the backyard are also guaranteed, or if your dog isn't the high energy type, we can have some fun with nose work games.
