“This was Kat's first time sitting for our kitten Peanut, and she exceeded our expectations across the board. Communication was excellent — she shared regular updates and sent us genuinely fun photos that we loved getting throughout the trip. When we hit an unexpected schedule change, Kat was completely accommodating and made it a non-issue. The house was just as clean as we left it. She followed everything we asked, from the litter box routine to stripping the bed before we got back. Most importantly, Peanut was visibly happy and well-adjusted when we returned — you can always tell when a sitter has actually engaged with your pet, and she clearly had. Peanut was so comfortable with Kat that we were able to fully relax and enjoy our vacation. We will absolutely have her sit for Peanut again. Highly recommend.”

“Melina was very responsive via messaging and easy to work with. She had a genuine affection for my pup and wanted to know his routine and habits to ensure she could provide quality care. Thank you Melina!”

“Julia was a wonderful sitter. She looked after my babies like her own & worked with my schedule to ensure my pups always had someone there for them. She provided walks & entertainment, I would highly recommend her in the future.”

“Crystal was great! Most normal dog sitter I’ve met! Everything was perfect. She was responsive, clean, fed the dogs, walked them. They were happy and everything was in order! I’d like to have Crystal as our exclusive dog sitter in the future! I do recommend!! Thank you Crystal!!”

About: I’ve cared for cats and dogs for most of my life, including my own cat and miniature Cockapoo, and I’ve also helped care for Louie, the Golden Retriever pictured in my profile. I previously provided services through Rover a couple years ago, and I’m excited to begin offering care again. I’m comfortable caring for pets of different ages, sizes, and personalities. My goal is to keep their routine as familiar as possible, follow your instructions closely, and make sure they feel safe, relaxed, and well cared for while you’re away. I’m reliable, communicative, and happy to provide regular photos and updates. I currently work full-time locally, so my weekday availability is generally before and after work, with more flexibility on weekends. For house sitting, I’ll always confirm your pet’s routine and how long they can comfortably be alone before accepting a booking. I work full-time locally, so I’m generally available for walks and drop-in visits before or after work, with greater flexibility on weekends. I currently offer house sitting on weekends, when I have more flexibility to spend time with your pet and keep their routine as consistent as possible. I care for pets in their own home, where they can remain comfortable in a familiar environment. I follow each owner’s instructions closely, including feeding schedules, medications, walking routines, crate use, and household rules. I’m careful with doors, gates, leashes, and harnesses, and I always prioritize your pet’s safety. I’ll also treat your home respectfully and provide regular photos and updates so you know everything is going well.
“Taylor is responsible for, kind, smart, and wonderful with dogs! We have a Blue Heeler mix who is picky about who he likes and he bonded with her immediately. She took him on the long walks that he needs and also gave him the love he needed to be happy and relaxed when we came home. Our home was left spotless and our dog was happy. What more could we ask for?! We will definitely engage her again without hesitation!”

“My crew absolutely loved Sharon and her positive energy. The photos she sent were pronominal, the communication was great. We will be hiring her again. Alsó appreciated her attention to detail when learning all the different routines and behavior patterns with my little ones. Thank you.”

“Diane is a real find! I think she took better care of my dogs and cats than we do when we are home. They had a fantastic time with her and she even made some improvements to their training while we were away. I felt very confident knowing my pets were bring well cared for and she sent frequent updates snd photos so could see what they were up to. Thank you, Diane!”

“Ava is awesome! She met Nala before the actually day just to get to know her (I’m so glad she took the time to get to know Nala) and watched her just like we would have at home (I’m sure even better). Thank you Ava for your great service! I know we’ll need your help sometime soon.”

About: I have been pet-sitting and dog walking for my neighbors for several years. I've cared for dogs, cats, and small animals like hamsters. I have a dog of my own who is leash-aggressive, so I am used to handling big, aggressive dogs. I'm experienced in feeding, walking, administering basic care, cleaning up after pets, and providing owners with regular updates. I just graduated high school and am taking a gap year. I am looking to fill that year by being around animals. Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine. I care for my own two cats and dogs daily, and I build my schedule around providing dependable care for the pets I'm responsible for. Since I have a flexible schedule, I'm available for morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend visits, walks, and overnight stays. When caring for pets in a client's home, I do my best to keep them on their normal routine so they feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed. I carefully follow all care instructions, including feeding schedules, walks, medications (if needed), playtime, and any special requests. I always make sure pets have fresh water, a clean living space, and plenty of attention based on their individual personalities and needs. Safety is a top priority of mine. I double-check doors, gates, and fences to make sure they're locked and secure. I treat every home with respect by keeping it clean, locking up when I leave, and following any household instructions provided by the owner. I also believe communication is important, so I provide regular updates and photos to help the owner feel confident that their pets are happy, safe, and well cared for while they're away.
“This is our first time using Rover to find someone to come into our home and take care of our pets. I like the reviews of Ryan and scheduled a meet and greet with him to make sure he would comfortable with staying at the house. My main concern was keeping the dog and cat separated since they don't get along. Ryan sent me updates of how things were going, which was reassuring. Joplin (dog) really liked Ryan and she doesn't like everyone. We came home from our trip and Joplin was very happy to see us. Joplin actually looked the next morning to see if Ryan was still in the spare room :-). I would definitely use Ryan again in the future.”

About: I’ve had pets my entire life and I’ve been caring for animals since I was young. Growing up surrounded by pets gave me a genuine love and understanding of their needs. I know every has a unique personality, and I am committed to providing safe, loving, and dependable care. I’ll treat your pet with the same kindness, patience, and attention that I’ve given to mine. I’m currently working part-time, so I’ll have plenty of time to play with your pups! I’m available for walks, and to take care of your pets. I am available weekdays and weekends at any time. I promise to provide safe and responsible care for each pet, always respecting the clients home. I am a reliable person, organized and attentive to details. I maintain open communication with the owner and do everything possible so that both they and their pets feel calm and safe.

About: I used to sit for families to take care of their children, pets, and plants. Since then, I taught at a K-8 private school for five years, led non-profit operations and partnerships, and earned a Master's in International Relations, graduating with honors. I have had pets of my own, and you can be sure your home and pets will be in safe hands. I just graduated with a master's so I am in a transition period. I live here in Novato and dedicate most of my time to volunteering remotely. My schedule is flexible, so I am available to make sure your pet's schedule (ie food, walks) can be maintained. I am very clean and have plenty of remote work to do, so I can keep your pet company at your home easily. I give them play time and like to exercise, so if your pet needs a decent walk and exercise as well, I am happy to provide that. I am very gentle and intuitive with animals. They like my attention and calm presence. I am a strong communicator, so I am very accessible and have sound judgment to contact you if necessary.
“I recently had Madison house sit and pet sit for nearly two weeks, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. She took wonderful care of my cat, playing with him multiple times a day and regularly sending pictures so I always knew how he was doing. It's clear she genuinely loves animals. I came home to a happy, relaxed cat, just as I had left him. Madison was also incredibly responsive throughout the stay. Any time I had a question, she replied quickly and put my mind at ease. She also left the house in great shape, which I really appreciated. Leaving your pet with someone new can be a worrisome experience, but I never felt anxious once with Madison. I was completely at ease knowing my cat and home were in such capable, caring hands. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive pet sitter, and I will absolutely be hiring her again without hesitation.”

“Alexandra (Alex) provided loving and attentive care for my puggle Isabel when I was out of town. Isabel loved her from the second they met! I was equally impressed. Alex was reliable, responsible, and sent me daily texts and photos of them taking walks and snuggling together. She is top notch and I highly recommend her.”

“David is an incredible sitter! He connected with all four (yes, FOUR) of my animals (3 cats + 1dog) while we were away. He provided frequent updates with pictures and didn’t hesitate asking questions. David offers a calm energy, is completely attentive, enjoys playing and connecting with each animal and bonded with them so effortlessly - he is amazing! Thank you, David, for taking such incredible care of our fur-family!”

“Susan is amazing! We are so lucky to have found her. Our bernedoodle, Benny, adores her. He even snuggled with her all night. She took lots of photos and took great care of our house. She is very communicative, kind, responsible, and had a great immediate connection with Benny. She is the best dog sitter we have had.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Novato
We had such a great experience with Kat! She took wonderful care of our dachshund, Bruce, and we felt completely at ease knowing he was in good hands. She sent us pictures every day, which we absolutely loved, and kept us updated on how he was doing. Bruce was happy and well cared for when we got home. We’ll definitely be using Kat again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.

Sharon was a fantastic petsitter - 5 stars all the way. She was very attentive to my elderly special needs kitty - gave her all her meds including insulin shots, was home to monitor her throughout the day, was kind and caring, took great care of my home. She was a great communicator, took lots of pics and videos, and texted with questions and updates, which I really appreciated. I would highly recommend her, and will definitely use her again.
Jessica did a great job for 3 nights of taking care of our 10 year old, 75 pound Susie Q. She was communicative and responsive, sending quick updates with photos through the long weekend. Susie can be anxious at times, and she clearly loved Jessica because after we came home, Susie went to the room where Jessica stayed, and she decided to sleep there. :)

Sophia was wonderful with our dog Maverick! She sent us pictures regularly and also managed to figure out a way to give him his pills even when our tried and true turkey couldn’t be found! Her communication was perhaps the most impressive, and I felt like our doggo was in good hands throughout our entire trip. Thank you, Sophia for giving us peace of mind!

Leah was absolutely wonderful. She stepped in last minute to care for my dog for four nights and even took the time to come meet her the day before, which I really appreciated. She was communicative, reliable, and clearly very attentive, especially with my dog having a sore paw at the time. It gave me real peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Leah and would gladly have her sit for us again

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Novato walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Novato maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Novato choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Novato. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
