“Erin is an amazing pet sitter. She’s super responsible, attentive, responsive, and empathetic, which made it so much easier for me to be away. She took care of my cat just as well as I would, following my instructions in detail and, sometimes, even exceeding my expectations. She also kept the house very clean, I came back and everything looked spotless. What I really appreciated was the communication. She sent updates and photos minimum 2-3 times a day, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. On top of that, she watered my plants and even picked up my cat’s medication, which was truly above and beyond. I really appreciate her help and would definitely recommend her.”

“David was really great with our dog and two cats. He was very attentive, responsive and provided frequent and detailed photo updates which was very appreciated. David brought a very calm energy to looking after our pets, which was very helpful considering our dog can be quite anxious. I would highly recommend booking David for your petsitting needs. For us, it was our first time using Rover, so we were a little cautious to make sure we got the right person. I felt super at ease with David, and comfortable that he was taking good care of our animals. I will definitely look to him in the future!”

“Once again Tania was absolutely amazing. We have a very spoiled, special needs cat and Tania always follows all of our instructions and requests with a smile. We also have a lot of plants that need attention - during a heat wave while we were gone she ensured everything was watered and still green when we returned. We can go on vacation and truly relax knowing our fur baby and our home is in good hands.”

“This was Kat's first time sitting for our kitten Peanut, and she exceeded our expectations across the board. Communication was excellent — she shared regular updates and sent us genuinely fun photos that we loved getting throughout the trip. When we hit an unexpected schedule change, Kat was completely accommodating and made it a non-issue. The house was just as clean as we left it. She followed everything we asked, from the litter box routine to stripping the bed before we got back. Most importantly, Peanut was visibly happy and well-adjusted when we returned — you can always tell when a sitter has actually engaged with your pet, and she clearly had. Peanut was so comfortable with Kat that we were able to fully relax and enjoy our vacation. We will absolutely have her sit for Peanut again. Highly recommend.”

“I was very happy with Pat’s good care of my dog Rosie. Pat would send me pictures and tell me what they were up to so I wouldn’t miss my dog too much. I will definitely use Pat again.”

“Colin has watched GG at our home twice now, and we know he loves her. He sends great pictures where she always looks happy, and sends us updates. He is sweet, responsible, and responsive! He takes good care of my baby and home. Thank you Colin!”

“I couldn't have asked for a better sitter for my cat, George. Kait also house sat for me and did a great job. In fact, one of the first things my downstairs neighbor said to me after "welcome home" was to let my know how nice Kait was. She treated George like he was her own and sent me pictures and updates regularly. I would definitely use her again for both short and long term stays. She is kind, caring, and responsible and truly loves animals.”

“Wow! What an incredible sitter Hong was. This is the first time I have ever been away from my fur babies and not worried once. She was so communicative the entire time and I came back to happy dogs and a pristine house. If I could give her 10 stars I would! Thank you again Hong. ❤️”

“Angelina and Xavior were great with our fur babies. They were very attentive to the needs of our senior dog and sent lots of updates which gave us great peace of mind. We will definitely be requesting them again.”

“Lexie is a wonderful dog sitter. She has tons of experience with and loves dogs, and they love her back. My girls were well taken care of during my recent trip, and Lexie kept in touch with me throughout my trip. I've already booked her for another stay!”

“Linette took great care of our dogs! We appreciate that she sent updates and pictures everyday to let us know that our girls are safe, active and happy. We will definitely ask her to come back.”

“Merci is fantastic! She stayed in my home with my 4-yr old Shiba Inu for 2 weeks, and sent me updates with pictures and videos everyday. She was very communicative & clearly enjoyed playing with my dog. I would absolutely hire her again, and I wholeheartedly recommend her !”

About: I have 10+ years of dog walking and animal sitting experience, including with Eat Bark Love and Walking the Dog, and I’ve also volunteered and worked with several animal protection organizations. Animal care fits naturally into my routine. I worked professionally as a dog walker/animal sitter for more than 10 years, so I’m accustomed to organizing my days around animals’ needs. When caring for animal companions, I follow their usual schedule closely, including feeding, walks, playtime, medication if needed, and plenty of companionship and attention. In a client’s home, I carefully follow each animal’s established routine and their guardian’s instructions for feeding, walks, playtime, medication, and bedtime. I keep doors and gates secure, maintain clean food, water, and litter areas, and treat the home with respect. I adjust care to each animal’s age, health, energy level, and personality, and provide regular updates and photos so their guardian knows they are safe and comfortable.
“This is our 2nd time booking with Amber to house sit and take care of our dog and she was great! Sent us pictures of our baby, showed up on time, spent quality time with Fofinha and even helped out with washing the sheets for our next visitor. We will continue booking with Amber in the near future!!!”

“Taylor is responsible for, kind, smart, and wonderful with dogs! We have a Blue Heeler mix who is picky about who he likes and he bonded with her immediately. She took him on the long walks that he needs and also gave him the love he needed to be happy and relaxed when we came home. Our home was left spotless and our dog was happy. What more could we ask for?! We will definitely engage her again without hesitation!”

Talia did such an amazing job taking care of my beautiful dog Phoenix and my sweet little cat Sadie while I was on vacation in Michigan with my family. Phoenix got lots of exercise and hiking adventures and Sadie got lots of love. Talia was very communicative with me and sent photos of my sweet pets regularly, and my home was spotless when I returned. Would definitely ask Talia to watch my pets again. Five stars! Can’t recommend her highly enough.

Cory has taken care of my "easy" dog, Ginger, before. Then I double down and asked her to dog-sit both my dogs. Pepper is lovely... but a bit spicy with other dogs and has a prey drive that doesn't quit. All went well, and I returned home to two happy and healthy pups:-)

Sharon was a fantastic petsitter - 5 stars all the way. She was very attentive to my elderly special needs kitty - gave her all her meds including insulin shots, was home to monitor her throughout the day, was kind and caring, took great care of my home. She was a great communicator, took lots of pics and videos, and texted with questions and updates, which I really appreciated. I would highly recommend her, and will definitely use her again.
Jessica did a great job for 3 nights of taking care of our 10 year old, 75 pound Susie Q. She was communicative and responsive, sending quick updates with photos through the long weekend. Susie can be anxious at times, and she clearly loved Jessica because after we came home, Susie went to the room where Jessica stayed, and she decided to sleep there. :)

Susan was amazing. We were very concerned about leaving our three dogs for the first time in years especially our 16 yr old with health issues. However, Susan did an incredible job handling the special needs of all three dogs from food issues to medications. On our first meet and greet we could see she was truly an animal lover and had the patience and disposition we were looking for as a dog/house sitter. We would highly recommend Susan to anyone who is looking for to care for their fur babies while out of town. We will definitely be using Susan again!

I could not ask for a better Pet Sitter. Noelle took incredible care of my pets who and she also took wonderful care of my home. She was easy to communicate with and was quick to respond. She sent photos when I asked her to, as I was missing them. It’s hard to be away but knowing they were in such capable and caring hands made it much easier. I’m grateful for Noelle.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lucas Valley-Marinwood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lucas Valley-Marinwood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lucas Valley-Marinwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
