David is an incredible sitter! He connected with all four (yes, FOUR) of my animals (3 cats + 1dog) while we were away. He provided frequent updates with pictures and didn’t hesitate asking questions. David offers a calm energy, is completely attentive, enjoys playing and connecting with each animal and bonded with them so effortlessly - he is amazing! Thank you, David, for taking such incredible care of our fur-family!

Krystle treated my 15 yr+ baby with love and care. She was kind enough to meet us ahead of the scheduled time to see if we agreed it would be a good fit long term. She left my place tidy and took great care of my sweet girl. Next time we will try a longer stay to see how she does. It was great having someone who understands the needs of senior pups.

About: I’ve cared for my family friends' dogs while they were away, which helped me understand the importance of building trust with both pets and owners. I am currently enrolled in school on weekends and trade school in evening. I and available during weekday mornings and afternoons to provide reliable dog sitting services. My cats are indoor-only, and my dog enjoys a large backyard for play. Due to my cats' territorial nature, it might be challenging to accommodate other animals in my home.

This is our first time using Rover to find someone to come into our home and take care of our pets. I like the reviews of Ryan and scheduled a meet and greet with him to make sure he would comfortable with staying at the house. My main concern was keeping the dog and cat separated since they don't get along. Ryan sent me updates of how things were going, which was reassuring. Joplin (dog) really liked Ryan and she doesn't like everyone. We came home from our trip and Joplin was very happy to see us. Joplin actually looked the next morning to see if Ryan was still in the spare room :-). I would definitely use Ryan again in the future.

My dog can't wait for our next trip so he can hang out with Lydia! I try to bring my dog everywhere, so I was a little nervous to leave him, but I'm so happy to have met Lydia and see how my dog was just drawn to her! I was in a time crunch and needed to leave town right away and she was a godsend! She had no hesitation about his fresh food or walk routine--she's a real pro. He got so much playtime and exercise and even on a rainy weekend. I know it can be a little hard to trust someone new with your furry babe, but Lydia is the real deal. BOOK HER--just leave room for us in her schedule please ;)

This was Kat's first time sitting for our kitten Peanut, and she exceeded our expectations across the board. Communication was excellent — she shared regular updates and sent us genuinely fun photos that we loved getting throughout the trip. When we hit an unexpected schedule change, Kat was completely accommodating and made it a non-issue. The house was just as clean as we left it. She followed everything we asked, from the litter box routine to stripping the bed before we got back. Most importantly, Peanut was visibly happy and well-adjusted when we returned — you can always tell when a sitter has actually engaged with your pet, and she clearly had. Peanut was so comfortable with Kat that we were able to fully relax and enjoy our vacation. We will absolutely have her sit for Peanut again. Highly recommend.

Vanessa watched our sweet lab Utah for 10 days while we went on vacation. I could tell Vanessa truly loves caring for animals as she spent so much time with Utah to make sure she was happy. Utah got multiple walks a day, played fetch at the park and lots of snuggles. It was quite a challenge to get Utah to part ways with Vanessa once we returned from vacation. They had become the best of buds. We are so glad to have finally found our go-to sitter for when we leave town. We also made her our regular walker as Utah demands having her in our lives!

About: I grew up on a cattle farm in Alabama, so caring for animals is in my DNA. I live a very active lifestyle and know how to meet your pup exactly where they are, whether that’s a high-energy play session or run or a calm afternoon on the couch over a good book. Whether you’re working, traveling or just enjoying time with friends, giving your dog the love and care that they deserve requires a village. Let me be a part of that village by spoiling your family member with the warmth and attentiveness only an aunt could provide. My schedule is built around flexibility. I am an entrepreneur so dogs fit naturally into my day. Morning walks align with my gym routine, and I’m largely at home or local during the week. No rigid 9-to-5, which means your dog isn’t an afterthought squeezed into a lunch break. I adapt to you and your dog’s needs. I live near Golden Gate Park and an excellent dog park, so walks are always fun and never an afterthought.

Sergio was an excellent dog sitter and I hope that he will come back to take care of Bailey again! Sergio was extremely communicative and responsive leading up to and during our trip. Bailey has a number of special health needs and Sergio made me feel totally at ease with her care because of his experience and calm demeanor. He was very respectful of our apartment - it was totally spotless upon our return with sheets and towels laundered. Sergio is one of the best, if not the best, sitters I've met on this app - thank you again, Sergio!

We had a very complicated booking, due to last minute changes that were out of our control. Parke was understanding, flexible, reliable, and took phenomenal care of our two busy Doodles. Pat was wonderful! She radiates calm, and our nervous dog immediately liked her, which is genuinely unusual. She's also friendly and fun to talk to, which is a plus for the owners! She was fine with giving medications to our dog who is still recovering from CCL surgery, and with keeping him quiet in general. She kept us up-to-date with texts and photos, and the house was spotless. She was the perfect person for our pup.

We could not have asked for a better cat sitter than Marilee, she not only took exceptional care of our kitten, but also went above and beyond to ensure he was stimulated and happy while we were away. She brought him things like string toys and newspapers to play with- which kept him really active and entertained. In addition to her A++ care, she also was great communicating with us. I loved getting little videos and pictures of him every day. I highly recommend Marilee- she really is a cat whisperer! Marilee also

FAQs for House Sitting - Los Ranchitos

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Los Ranchitos on Rover is $83.25 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 7,192 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Los Ranchitos. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Los Ranchitos walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Los Ranchitos maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Los Ranchitos choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Los Ranchitos. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
