I currently work from home, and I have a (mostly) flexible schedule. I like to get out with my dog two times a day for 2+ mile walks on local trails and parks.

Information Sharon H. would like to know about your pet
There is no such thing as overcommunication to me. MOST important are fears and allergies, things they gravitate toward but are not good for them, and how you soothe them and how they soothe themselves. Feel free to tell me EVERYTHING you can think of about your dog or cat i.e. they bark/are afraid of unusual shapes until they investigate, they will swallow the pill wrapped in bacon but not with kibble, their legs are stiff when they first get up but they can walk well after a few minutes. I love all the details about your pet that you can remember.
A typical day
I meet your pets where they are at physically. Do they want to play fetch with a Chuck It ball or hike 3 miles to get their wiggles out? We will do that! Do they want to stay inside and play on the rug with a rope that I wiggle? No problem! I often stimulates pet mentally by playing hide and seek with small treats and a blanket when possible. I talk to your pets constantly; they love the verbal attention as well.

Pet care experience
I’ve cared for dogs in a wide range of situations, including senior dogs, special-needs pups, and dogs recovering from injuries. Most dogs love nature, and it's exciting to see them perk up on walks at the sound of chirping birds, rustling brush, or a skittering lizard. There are great dog-friendly nature paths in Novato and San Rafael that give the pups both sniffing and social opportunities, so they come home tired and content. What I’m especially good at is communication. I pay close attention to a dog’s eyes, ears, posture, and energy, because they tell you so much before they ever make a sound. I use a gentle “dog voice” (yes, the sweet baby-talk voice) and clear, steady cues, because many dogs respond quickly to warmth, tone, and consistency. Even anxious or shy dogs usually soften when they realize they’re being understood. I’ve also cared for large dogs, and my Labrador retriever loves having big buddies to play with. No matter the size, age, or temperament, I’m respectful of each dog’s individual needs, and I make sure they feel safe, seen, and truly cared for with plenty of affection, attention, patience, and exercise.

My crew absolutely loved Sharon and her positive energy. The photos she sent were pronominal, the communication was great. We will be hiring her again. Alsó appreciated her attention to detail when learning all the different routines and behavior patterns with my little ones. Thank you.
Sharon is great with our corgi, Wilson. She asks thoughtful questions and clearly cares about being prepared. She sends regular updates, which gives us peace of mind. It’s obvious she really loves the dogs she cares for, and it makes leaving Wilson much easier. She also is great at communication and is responsive to messages. We highly recommend her!
Sharon is kind, gentle, sensible, and helpful.
I cannot recommend Sherry highly enough as a pet sitter and dog walker. She stayed overnight in my home to care for my small, senior dog who is very sensitive and has a history of unpredictable seizures, and I had complete peace of mind the entire time I was away. I knew without question that my fur baby was in the safest, most capable, and most loving hands. My dog already knows and adores her, which speaks volumes — but beyond that, Sherry is incredibly attentive, calm, and intuitive with animals, especially those with special needs. She is exactly the kind of person you want caring for a pet who requires extra awareness and compassion. She is also a wonderful dog owner herself. She raised her Labrador from a puppy and clearly put in the time and effort to train him well. He is a gentle, playful sweetheart who knows when to engage and when to respectfully give space — even around older dogs with firm boundaries. That kind of behavior doesn’t happen by accident. In addition to being exceptional with animals, I trust Sherry completely in my home. She was respectful, responsible, and thoughtful, and I returned to an immaculate house. It was clear she treated both my home and my dog as if they were her own. Anyone would be incredibly lucky to have her care for their pet. I would not hesitate for a second to have her sit for me again, and I recommend her without reservation.
