“Dan and his family were excellent dog sitters for our pup who stayed with them for 3 nights. She is 7 months old and this was our first time leaving her with anyone so I was very nervous. We did a meet and greet and Dan and his family made us feel comfortable right away. During her stay, he was very responsive to texts and gave multiple updates about what they did and even sent pics! They have a nice background where our girl was able to run around and play and their house is very spacious and clean. They took her on multiple long walks during her stay and when we picked her up on Sunday and brought her home I could not believe how exhausted she was! She’s a puppy with lots of energy so to see her passed out means she must’ve had a great time getting lots of attention and exercise! I definitely would not hesitate to have Dan dog sit again for us and I’m grateful to know I now have someone that she & I both trust & feel comfortable with. Thanks again to Dan & his wonderful family!”

About: I’ve worked in emergency vet med for 5 years and I’m comfortable with everything from reptiles, to Great Danes. I personally do several dog sports with my border collies and I’m always up for learning the special needs and quirks of your fur babies I currently work full time but my holiday, evenings and weekends are free to love your fur babies. My work schedule is done far in advanced so my off days can be made available! I’m available for walks and drop in services from your home. Caring for your pet while your away in their own home allows me to keep their schedule the same and cause less anxiety
“Alexis was amazing with my 1.5 year old pittie! She sent some brief updates/pics while I was away and was very friendly and professional. Came home to a happy pup. Highly recommend!”

“Jessica took amazing care of our dog Millie and we cannot be more appreciative! It was the longest we have ever been out of town and just knowing that she was being loved and cared for, gave us such piece of mind. Jessica sent us updates and pictures and Millie had such a great time during her stay. We highly recommend Jessica , and will definitely be requesting again next time we have the need.”

“Our Mylo (Cockapoo) was right away comfortable with Zaira. She obviously loved dogs and knows how to take care of them. Her son also made our Mylo feel comforted when he was a bit anxious. Thanks Zaira and family for taking good care of our pet.”

“Heather and Nathan were absolutely awesome with Gaia while we were out of town. Heather provided a few updates everyday with photos to put our minds at ease while we were gone. Id highly recommend booking with Heather and Nathan :)”

“Noelle did an amazing job caring for our dog, Max, overnight! She took the time to schedule a meet and greet beforehand, which made us feel very comfortable and confident leaving him in her care. She showed Max so much love, patience, and attention, and it was clear she truly cares about the dogs she watches. I highly recommend her services and will definitely continue using her in the future!”

“Laura was fantastic with our two boys! We were impressed from the very start. She did a great job handling the meet and greet, making sure the boys were comfortable in her home and around her family. While we were on vacation, she regularly checked in, sending us pictures and videos each day. I would highly recommend Laura. We will definitely be repeat clients!”

“Ryan was great with Lilah! Paired her up well with a sweet pug. Then brought her for a big walk, I could certainly tell because of how tired she was when we picked her up. I received so many updates and photos which really relieved us. Thanks Ryan once again for your expertise with dogs and making Lilah so comfortable so we could go discover Niagara!”

“Amanda was an awesome sitter for Rizzo and we will definitely use her again in the future! You can tell she truly loves the doggo she is watching and treats them as her own. “Kimberly and her family made my fur baby’s first visit away from home a very comfortable experience. She was professional and communicated with me every step of the way. As a first time Rover user and a first time pet owner, I would highly recommend Kimberly’s services to anyone interested and will surely utilize her for future needs.”

About: I’ve helped take care of dogs since I was 10. I helped train our Bernese Mountain Dog puppy at a young age, and played a great role in taking care of her for the next six years. I’ve dog sat and dog walked friends and families dogs plenty of times over the past few years. Some of these dogs were beagles, labradors, retrievers, and collies. I’m currently an undergraduate student, I only have two or three classes a day and then I’m available for the rest of the day! When I’m on school breaks, I work a part time job, giving me a lot of free time to watch your fur baby. My house has a fenced in yard making it easy to take out your pet. I have no other pets currently, ensuring you a safe environment if they’re at my home. I can easily put your pet in a crate if needed, and I’m very attentive!
“Julie and Noah took great care of my two dogs. They gave me regular updates and pictures. I know they were in a loving, caring home while I was away and were treated like part of their family.”

About: I’ve always had dogs and cats my whole life. I’ve watched friends’ pets in the past to help them out. I’ve boarded and walked on multiple occasions. I work during the day M-F. During the summer my two very responsible 19 and 20 year olds are home to help out and play with the animals as well. I’m looking at this as a learning opportunity in responsibility for them. I have a small yard and live in a nice neighborhood that is good for walking. I have a dog named Westley who is 3 1/2 and a cat, Daisy, that is 6. Both have been around both dogs and cats. Daisy generally will hide if she’s scared. Westley loves to play.

Courtney’s provided the best stay for Amaya, our standard poodle. She was flexible about drop off time and pick up time as we were traveling from out of state to the Falls and coordinating with two other families. She treated Amaya like one of her own. We appreciated the photos and videos and attention she gave our girl. I don’t think Amaya missed us!

Alex was amazing!!! We had our rover sitter cancel ~4 days before we were going away for the weekend and he agreed to watching our girl with no problem! Nova is leash reactive and has many quirks-but, she felt so comfortable (as did we) with alex! He was awesome. We will definitely be booking through him again.

JoAnn was AMAZING with our two pups! She took time to get to know them and make them feel right at home. This is so important for us as we got our one dog Coco during Covid and she can be a little shy at first. Joann kept us updated throughout the stay (including pictures) and promptly answered all our questions. She was also flexible with the pickup time which was very helpful as we were coming back from out of town. You could tell our dogs had a great time as they came home exhausted! We had total peace of mind that JoAnn had everything covered! Can’t say enough good things about her and will definitely be booking with her agin!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
