“We took our two year old Westie to Jen and Brents for an overnight stay to see how she would do. Maggie loved being there. She was so well cared for that when we came to pick her up it was like a quick 'Hi!!' and kiss and she was off. We where curious to see how she would fair at betime but she snuggled in on their bed (although she is a 'bed hog!!!' or I say a 'pillow hog?'. but felt right at home. They spent time playing with her with her toys, making sure she had lots of outside time. Maggie loves to be outside. So we would highly recomend Jen and Brent to take care of your beloved pet anytime if you are looking for exceptional care. We will be using them again for sure.”

“Emmy was awesome and super caring with Brownie. She immediarely welcomed him and made him feel at home. Her home has a really nice backyard with plenty of space for dogs. I know Brownie had a great time with Emmy and her family!”

“Noelle took such good care of my cat - I just needed Noelle to watch her for the day and everything was so smooth. Great communication before and throughout the day, I didn't have to worry about anything. She also sent pics throughout the day so I knew everything was going well.”

“This was the second time that Jessica and her husband took care of Jackson. He had another great time with them. Jessica went above and beyond, dealing with a broken collar. Highly recommend!”

“Courtney is fantastic. She is clearly extraordinarily knowledgeable and is extremely adept at making dogs feel comfortable in her home. This was Chauncey's first extended boarding stay and she ensured that he was very comfortable and happy the entire time. Courtney is quick to respond to messages and was very flexible when it came to drop off/pick up times. I cannot recommend Courtney enough to anyone looking for a reliable, dependable, and courteous sitter!”

“Love, love, love Erika and Huxley! We were a bit nervous to leave our 12 week old, high energy Great Dane pup with a sitter for vacation. From minute one of booking, we knew Erika would be awesome. We did a meet n greet first to ensure the dogs were a good fit. We received daily updates with photo’s of our pup with her new friend Huxley. I think our pups are going to be life long friends! We won’t be using anyone else from this point on!”

“Jamie is absolutely amazing and I feel lucky to have found her. My pup Oakley is shy and reserved when it comes to new people, but she took to Jamie right away. Her home was welcoming and a great place for Oakley to stay- a big beautiful backyard to run around, and she loved following Jamie around and hanging in the house. Jamie sent me lots of pictures and I could tell Oakley was loving her time with her. I will definitely use her again in the future!!”

“Dana is completely in tune with my pets needs, personality and well being. She keeps in touch with me, giving me complete peace of mind that my fur baby is being very well cared for. This has allowed me to go away with no worries. Thank You.”
“Alexis was amazing with our Golden retriever! It was her first time with Alexis and sh e came home soooo happy! Alexis sent adorable pictures and took such good care of Summer ! We highly recommend her and will be back soon !”

“Catia was amazing with my boy! She sent plenty of updates and pictures, which I loved! She also took him for multiple walks and he came home happy and content. I highly recommend her services. I don’t trust just anyone with my dogs, but I’m glad I found Catia!”

“Jin, was very friendly and very communicative. She treated my baby girl like her own. She took my booking at the last minute, I thank her for that. Highly recommended!”

“What an amazing couple, I’ve never seen two people more devoted to taking care of animals. I took my nine month Rottweiler there and he did not want to leave when I picked him up. I will definitely be in contact with them again thank you very much Jon and Jody you guys were awesome. Highly recommended.”

“Kendra was amazing to work with. She made a stressful last minute trip that came up for my family so much easier. The comfort I felt knowing my dogs were being cared for by her was priceless. She was very attentive with communication and pictures. I will definitely be using her again. 🥰”
“Deborah was terrific. She provided a safe, and loving home for our dog. Was easy to communicate with. Her dog was wonderful company for Sadie. Our dog left happy and tired. Thanks so much!!”

“Joanne P. was absolutely incredible with our dogs, Nala and Bella. This was their first time ever being away from us for an extended period (9 days), so naturally we were a bit nervous going in. From the very first meet-and-greet, though, any worries disappeared. Nala and Bella took to Joanne right away, which told us everything we needed to know. Throughout our trip, Joanne went above and beyond. She consistently sent photos and updates, which made such a difference in helping us relax and actually enjoy our vacation. It was clear in every message and picture that our girls were not just being cared for, but genuinely loved. When we came back, Nala and Bella were happy, comfortable, and clearly had a wonderful time. It’s such a relief to know we have someone we can trust completely with them. We couldn’t recommend Joanne more highly. She is kind, attentive, communicative, and truly treats your pets like her own. We will absolutely be booking with her again.”

“Kimberly and her family are amazing! Chyna was so happy to go and play with their dog for the weekend. She was worn out after her fun filled weekend. Would suggest her any time to any one! ”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
