“Kathryn is professional and a perfect fit to care for our clan. She took time to understand the needs of each pet individually and kept me in the know about how my pets were doing. I recommend Kathryn as a caring, nurturing pet companion. Thank you Kathryn! Can't wait to have you stay with us again.”

“Very happy that I found Dawn who was willing to house sit my three cats. The two females do not get along well, they pretty much tolerate each other. Then my male cat has thyroid issues and needs a topical med applied to his inner ear twice a day. Dawn was good about sitting with my cats at night and cuddling with them. I know my cats were pretty happy having the company.”

“Kendra was excellent, very communicative and flexible, and she took great care of my pup Moose! I would gladly have her watch Moose again the next time I am out of town.”

“Maria is reliable, communicates clearly and often, and noted all the details we had left her to care for our pups. She handled them with care and learned each one’s nuances. The transition back home after our extended vacation was smooth and our pups were in step with their regular routine. We would highly recommend Maria to anyone!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats, young and senior for 25+ years. Your pet will be family to me. And will be loved and cared for very well. In addition, I’m neat and clean. You’re home will also be well cared for. I’m presently not working. So, I will be with your pet 24/7. I like to snuggle with my pets and hope your pet will enjoy snuggling with me. I LOVE dogs and cats! Your pet will be treated as if my own. Walks and snuggles and snacks (if you permit) will be plentiful. I’m a low key, quiet person. So your pet does not have to be fearful of me.
“I can’t say enough good things about Sabrina! She took incredible care of my dogs and my home while I was away. She was responsive and kept me updated with pix. It’s not easy trusting someone with both your pet and your space, but she made it completely stress-free. My dogs were so happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for and my home looked better than I left it. I would 100% recommend her and will absolutely be booking with her again in the future! She's amazing!”

“Timothy was great! Very nice and easy to communicate with. Took care of our two large dogs and was able to give them their medicine as prescribed. Gave us peace of mind while we were out of town that our animals and house were well taken care of. He left the house in a cleaner state than when we left which is hard to do with a shedding husky. We will be using him again whenever we’re out of town.”

“Allison was absolutely amazing. When I came home, I didn’t even know she was in my home. Everything was exactly the way I left it. She took very good care of my dog. She kept in contact with me and answered my text messages within 10 minutes. She even took the garbage out to the garage!! There was no dirty dishes, even in my dishwasher as I said it didn’t even look like she was here. There was no poop in my backyard. She’s amazing”

Communication is important to me, so I'll send regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for while you're away.

About: My biggest concern while I’m away on vacation is “how are my dogs doing?” They are like my children. I have used Rover in the past to watch my dogs and home while I’m on vacation. I want to be that trustworthy person for someone else. I have ALWAYS been an animal lover! I have rescued dogs, I’ve fostered dogs and watched dogs for friends and family. I have two Golden Retrievers at home who love to have company come over and play in the fenced in backyard. I am looking forward to taking care of your Furbaby like they are my own I work Full-time but am able to leave for lunch to take care of any pets needs during the day. Right now I go home everyday on lunch and spend time with my dogs. I have a fenced in backyard and 2 Golden Retrievers who love to have company! At this time, if I watch your dog in my home, he/she would need to be crated while I’m at work. They would be crated no longer than 4 hours unless I make other arrangements with my job, where I could come home more frequently.
About: Ive had three cats and two dogs in my life. Currently I have two cats and they are my world. In many instances I've had a cat or dog that doesn't like anyone besides family come up and become my new best friend. Also have been trusted to watch multiple friends animals while on vacation because they loved our time together more than anyone else. During the week it would be a drop in sitting with minimal overnight stays after work. Which means its not out the question but not consistent. Weekends I have more flexibility for overnight stays. My cats are indoors, fed a heathly diet, and stimulated. While at the clients house its dependent on the type of animal and if the animal requires special care.
“Forest is a great sitter for our pets. We were fostering a dog last minute and Forest was able to take that on unexpectedly. He was super patient with a dog that was totally new to us and pretty fearful. He sends lots of updates and pictures. We appreciated his help tons!”
“Wow! 🤩 Noelle is deserving of ONE MILLION stars! She cared for my two senior and special needs dogs like they were her own! Going above and beyond with their special diet, schedule and administering insulin shots. BONUS: it look like housekeeping showed up before I arrived. Already rebooked for future dates 🌟”

“Dan was great! He house-sat for us and took care of our senior dog Elsa. He was wonderful at keeping in touch and sending photos, and we would be delighted to have him take care of Elsa in the future.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Tonawanda walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Tonawanda maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Tonawanda choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
