About: I’ve been taking care of all kinds of dogs around my neighborhood since I was young and have even trained two puppies of my own! I like to let the dogs show me what they like to do in order to build trust and a friendship with them! I currently am studying for the CPA exam before I start work in November and love to get out and take breaks so I have loads of free time for pet care. Although I am not offering boarding in my own home at the minute, I do have a small fenced in yard and a back patio.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my entire life. I was always the person in my family to feed, walk, train, and entertain the dogs. I’ve trained puppies of breeds as different as pit bulls and Westies and taken care of senior dogs in need of regularly scheduled meds and diapers. Since high school I have fostered, dog sat overnight and/or drop in, and I now volunteer at PAWS here in Chicago. I am currently working part-time, so I have varying availability, but will still have a very flexible schedule to fill with caring for your furry companions. As my apartment does not allow pets I would most likely be doing drop in visits as regularly as needed and perhaps an overnight if you are out of town for a while. I would do my best to rely entirely on and follow the dogs normal routine as laid out by the owner.

“Amanda is always very communicative and patient with Lucy, who isn’t always cooperative especially when it’s hot outside. Would definitely recommend her for daily walks!!!”

“Daria is great! Our rescue dog has separation anxiety and gets scared of new walkers. Daria has been very patient and empathetic working on trust with Willow.”

“Jennifer is wonderful with Memphis. Memphis immediately opened up to her. She absolutely loves her time with Jennifer. Jennifer is reliable, capable, flexible, quick to respond, and is someone I actually let Memphis be with, outside our family.”

About: Hello! In addition to my own dogs that I have had for 20+ years (Murray `13 and Bailey - deceased), I have fostered 5 dogs over the last 2 years from PAWS Chicago, a no kill shelter. I am also a Level 2 volunteer there. First, I love animals - both dogs and cats!! Secondly and importantly when working with animals that aren't our own babies, I have been trained by PAWS to be able to confidently and successfully interact with and walk a variety of dogs on city streets as well as in a stressful shelter environment. I am very skilled with shy and fearful dogs and have some experience with dogs that show reactivity, food / toy possession, etc. I know the right questions to ask at a meet and greet and way to approach animals who aren't familiar with me to ensure that everyone remains safe and happy. I can also give oral medication to dogs, though I wouldn't do so with cats as I don't have that experience. I love ALL dogs and cats. That being said, very large dogs aren't a fit for me unless they are very calm. Neither are highly aggressive dogs or cats. I am very flexible after 11:00 am. I accept same day bookings. Wednesday afternoons are the only times that I have a standing commitment to volunteer at PAWS. Otherwise, I just have appointments here and there or other ad hoc volunteer projects. I don't have a full time job anymore. I do travel with my husband and sometimes my dog, but know those dates well in advance. I am 48 and have owned homes myself. I have a background in Technology Sales. I am responsible and professional and will respect your home and pet. I can crate your dog if needed. I can give oral medications. I will wipe your dog off if it is wet outside and not track dirt into your home. I can feed your dog or cat. I am in good shape and will be able to control any dog that I agree to walk after meeting. Since I work in a shelter environment, I am confident with animals.

“Michaela is great! She is great with the dogs and tuned into their needs. My dogs are reactive on the leash which takes some extra patience and work. She has been great at seeing their positive side.”

“Rebecca has filled in for my usual walker (who has disappeared off the face of the earth) multiple times and is great! My dog got into the trash before she came over for the walk...and sent me hilarious pictures and even tidied up the mess a bit (definitely didn't need to but much appreciated. I will definitely go with her again!”

About: We would love to spoil your pup! 20+ years of dog care experience. Senior dog and special needs experience. WFH and active lifestyle who loves walks and exploring the lakefront and forest preserve trails. Your pup will have an amazing staycation while you are away. About me, I adopted Jess over thirteen years ago when she was nine months old. She is 14 years old now, but has the spirit of a puppy still. Moreover, Jess has had a host of congenital health issues, from allergies to a kidney removal, so I've seen it all and can handle it all. If your dog needs: extra attention to detail, pills, shots, has weird quirks, etc, it's just another day for me. Feel free to reach out! Would love to meet and care for your best friend over a long weekend, for daycare/playcare during the workday, or on one of our many walks! With a senior dog, we go out about 6-8 times a day, and a mix of long and short walks. For context, Jess usually gets out for around 3-5 miles walking per day, so if you have an active pup, that is not a problem! Working fully remote gives a little flexibility based on needs. Dogs get free movement throughout the house here, and I only accept one house guest at a time for focused attention. My pup was crate-trained as a puppy, so if for any reason I need to step out of the house and a crate is your preference for your pup, I have one here and available. There is a gate on the back porch if we’re hanging out on the patio, but the backyard is fully fenced and locked as well! With a senior dog, a little extra attention on my end is given to ensure resting places are easy for movement. And extra attention is made to ensure anything interesting is out of a mouth’s reach!

“Roxy was amazing with our two dogs. She was kind, patient, accommodating and very communicative. Our dogs can be a bit of drama queens (guarding food, being reactive on leash) and Roxy took excellent care of them on the walks and in our home. We also had to make some changes to the schedule and Roxy went out of her way to meet our needs. I would highly recommend Roxy’s service! Thank you so much.”

“Aleksandra is awesome! She sends timeline updates and let’s my pup run and have fun. She is mindful of my home and let’s me know when he had too much fun (I.e. muddy paws) and she is on spot with communication.”

North Center dog parents share their Rover experiences
Grace was amazing with my dog, Princess! From the very start, she was kind, professional, and super attentive. Princess can be a little picky about new people, but she warmed up to Grace right away, which says a lot. Grace gave her a great walk, made sure she got plenty of exercise, and even sent me updates and pictures so I could see how much fun Princess was having. It gave me total peace of mind knowing my pup was in such good hands. I can’t recommend Grace enough! Definitely booking with her again!
