“Yesenia walked and fed our dogs while we were away for a weekend. She sent updates, photos and communicated well. One of our dogs needs extra attention to ensure she eats all of her food, and Yesenia stayed a few minutes longer than scheduled to make sure she ate her food.”

About: I took a brake from this account when my husband and I moved to Los Angeles and I was caregiving for an elderly family member. I’m excited to be back in San Diego and ready to meet your pup🐶 I am a Pilates teacher so I have a very flexible schedule and am home often during the week! I have a 10 year old cattle dog and an 8 month old Golden retriever and know how important fresh air, walks and snuggles are for our canines! Im excited to explore San Diego neighborhoods with your pup, or offer a cozy place to sleep while you’re out of town! I live in a house with a medium sized gated backyard and walk my own pups a few times a day aswell as work on basic obedience training with the puppy. When my pups and I aren’t walking the neighborhood, we’re hiking, playing frisbee at the dog park, or playing in the water at the beach. Getting outside is just as needed for me as it is for my dogs! I’m an excited to explore the city with your pup too! We walk throughout the day, we play at the park most days and work on training the puppy to have good manners on our walks and other small doses throughout the day. We take our puppy to weekly obedience training and am able to use those skills to help care for the dogs I walk and board. I want my pups (and yours) to be happy and healthy. I provide lots of love and affection and feed them according to their routine. We walk and explore the smells of the neighborhood as it’s good for their brains! I cross the street if we run into another dog as some dogs are reactive. If a pup is crate trained I typically try and have them sleep in their crate at bedtime since being at someone else’s house is already out of routine and can sometimes cause some anxiety. We also keep food and chemicals tucked away so there are no accidents.
“Melanie walked our 3 dogs and did a great job! She walked the littles and the senior separately and did a great job modifying their walk for variety and to match their energy. She is really friendly, nice, and reliable. Highly recommend!!”

About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life and grew up in a home where they were truly part of the family. Over the years, friends and family have trusted me to care for their furry loved ones while they’re away, and I take that responsibility seriously. I also have a dog of my own, Lev, a 6-year-old male who has taught me a lot about patience, communication, and positive reinforcement training. Because Lev can be leash reactive, I’m very comfortable reading dog body language and handling walks calmly and safely. Through consistent positive reinforcement, we’ve built successful and enjoyable walks together. I understand that every dog has their own personality and needs, and I always aim to create a safe, positive, and fun experience for every pup in my care. I currently WFH full-time! Afternoon/evenings between 3-7pm on weekdays are ideal times for walks and visits. Weekends would vary, but I have pretty open availability in general! My own pup gets at least three walks a day—a long walk first thing in the morning and another before bed, plus a midday walk for some relief and fresh air. We often go on other adventures, including the beach and the dog park, but this our typical schedule. Because of this routine, I’m very accustomed to walking during high dog-traffic times and always prioritize safe, attentive handling. I stay aware of our surroundings, read dog body language, and use positive reinforcement to keep walks calm, structured, and enjoyable for every pup.
“Our pup loved his walks with Savannah! I usually stress abt having anyone care for him in my absence, but she made the whole thing very easy and worry-free for us. We even got little report cards of his walks and activities. We’ll def be using her again! 🤍”

“Spencer has been doing daily dog walking for our two dogs for the past couple months and is reliable and responsive. He is great with our pups and would recommend him to anyone!”

About: Insured • WFH couple with flexibility • Senior, medical needs, & rescue experience • Child free, smoke free home w/ small fenced yard & nearby park • No off-leash, no dog parks • One family at a time 👋🏼 Hi, I’m Shai and my husband is Norman! We’ll care for your pet like they’re our own. Ensuring the safety and well-being of your furry family member is our top priority. In addition to the Rover Guarantee, I am insured through Pet Sitters Associates so your pet is well covered. I’m the primary sitter, but Norman helps out with care in our home. 🏠 We offer individualized dog daycare and boarding in our home in University Heights, San Diego. To be able to provide personalized care, we only host 1 client at a time (up to 2 dogs from the same family). Please note: Early drop-off before 7am and late pick-up after 10pm will incur an additional $10 fee. The booking amount will be modified depending on the times requested. ☀️ We also offer dog/cat drop-in visits (open to other animals!) and dog walking in University Heights and areas within a 10 minute radius, which may include: North Park, Hillcrest, Normal Heights, Serra Mesa, and Mission Valley. 🐾 EXPERIENCE: 1. PERSONAL: We adopted our two rescue pomeranians Waffles and Toffee in 2018 and 2020. We’ve looked after pets for family and friends, including a young high energy goldendoodle, a senior deaf and blind shih tzu, and two slow-to-warm cats. 2. PROFESSIONAL: I worked front desk at a dog daycare facility for over a year. I handled dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments and learned how to stay organized and safe within a pet care environment. We also have been providing pet care through Rover and privately since 2024. 3. VOLUNTEER: We have been volunteering with various animal rescues for the past 6+ years, which has brought us experience with medical needs and behavioral quirks. We’ve spent time with plenty of dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, pigs, goats, and even an emu. SERVICE DETAILS: 🫱🏼🫲🏽 MEET AND GREETS: We require a meet and greet for potential clients prior to first booking to ensure we’re all a good fit for one another. It will also give us the chance to chat face-to-face about your pet and any care expectations. If it’s last minute or you are only vacationing in the area, we may allow exceptions depending on the request and after speaking via phone call or FaceTime. For longer boarding stays, we may require a one night trial at a discounted fee. 🐶 DOG DAYCARE: A day at our place includes: a clean dog proof home environment, lounging cot, small private fenced yard, semi-private unfenced yard (we always supervise and leash up), walkable neighborhood with a park less than half a mile away, and two furry hosts Waffles and Toffee. We can keep your dog engaged with walks, playtime, and command practice or just keep it chill and have them enjoy TV time with us. We sometimes go out to dog friendly places such as Liberty Station or Balboa Park, with your permission if your dog is comfortable in those environments. If your dog has physical limitations, we have a stroller for those under ~20lb. 🧳 DOG BOARDING: All the amenities of daycare, plus a safe home to rest at night. We ask that our boarders be house trained or crated trained so we have the ability to step out (no longer than 3 hours). We have a Petcube camera with sound and movement detection to monitor them while we’re out. If your dog needs human company for the entirety of their stay, we may have flexibility and are happy to discuss during the meet and greet. Please bring your dog’s crate, bed, and/or anything else to help them feel at home. We have extra beds for small dogs. 📝 DAYCARE/BOARDING REQUIREMENTS: 1) Must be neutral, indifferent, or friendly with both humans and dogs. 2) Must be potty trained. We may make exceptions for senior/medical incontinence if you can provide supplies — disposable diapers, wipes, etc. 3) Limited barking (to keep our neighbors happy). 4) Up to date on vaccines and flea prevention. 🧸 DOG/CAT DROP-IN VISITS: We offer feeding, playtime, water bowl refills, litter box cleaning for cat households, and will ensure your home is secured when we leave. For dogs, we’ll also take them out to potty in your yard or on leash outside. If you prefer a proper walk, please book our walking service instead or book a drop-in and walk service back to back. 🦮 DOG WALKS: We’ll check your dog’s harness/collar/leash for safety and walk them around the neighborhood at their pace. We’ll refill their water bowl and ensure your home is secured when we leave. 🌟 DROP-IN VISIT & WALK NOTES: Our main requirement is that your pet is not aggressive with humans so we can safely visit/walk them. We understand some animals need a slow introduction, which we can all gauge during the meet and greet. Please note we do not intermingle pets from different households. We look forward to hearing from you and your pet! ♥️ 🗓️ SCHEDULE: Norman and I both work from home. We typically have little to no zoom meetings and will plan accordingly if our meetings ever coincide so your dog is safe and comfortable. We have time in the morning, lunch time, and evening for walks and can take breaks throughout the day. We have some weekends available + flexibility in our weekday work schedule to provide dog care. ⚠️ SAFETY: We will never leave your dog outside unattended. Unless in a fenced yard, your dog will always be on a leash when outside. We do not do off leash outside nor would we have your dog come into contact with other dogs or people on a walk to avoid any emergency situations. We feed all animals separately whether in your home or ours, to prevent allergy issues and resource guarding. We would only feed your pet food and treats provided or approved by you. We are extremely mindful when opening/closing all doors and gates. We always double check leash, collar, and harness security before going out for a walk.
“Cynthia has done a wonderful job walking our dog every day for two weeks! She is great with our energetic dog. She has been very punctual, responsible and helpful!!”

About: I treat every pet as if they were my own and always aim to create a calm, loving environment for them while you’re away. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions — I’d love to meet you and your pet! Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with over 10 years of experience caring for pets for friends and family, and I’ve also worked with clients over the past few years. I have plenty of experience looking after both cats and dogs and understand how important it is for pets to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I work remotely, which gives me a very flexible schedule and allows me to spend quality time with your pet. Whether that means walks, playtime, feeding, or just keeping them company, I’m happy to make sure they get the attention and care they deserve. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I do my best to keep their routine consistent so they feel comfortable and secure while you’re away. I carefully follow all care instructions, including feeding schedules, medication if needed, and keeping litter boxes clean and fresh. I’m very attentive to each pet’s personality and comfort level — whether they want lots of playtime or prefer a calm presence. I also provide photo and message updates so you can feel confident that your pet is happy and well cared for while you’re away.
About: Growing up I constantly had dogs in my household where I learned the importance and privilege it is to take care of a dog. From graduating college as a student athlete to now working in the Professional world, the words multi-tasking and detail oriented are second nature to me, which is important when taking care of a dog. Going along with that, having a schedule everyday which I had to maintain gives me experience keeping a tight schedule and knowing when/where I must be which then can translated when taking care of a dog. Growing up with dogs gives me the perspective that I would want anyone taking care of my dog to give it the attention he/she deserves which is what I plan on doing for which dog I would have the privilege taking care of. I currently work 8:00-3:30 Monday to Fridays. So after work care or weekend care would be where I can help you with your doggo. Depending on the week as well (with holidays) my schedule can also be flexible, so don’t hesitate to ask! I have a fairly large apartment with ample room for your dog to play around. There is also a nearby dog park and plenty of quiet neighborhood for nice walks as well. I do own a cat who is a dog LOVER, but we will just have to make sure they are BFFs before any long visits!
“Justine has become my go to sitter. Her communication is excellent and I have absolute trust in her. She is timely and considerate. Have used several times now and will continue to do so.”

“I am so grateful I found Alyssa to care for my munchkins! She took wonderful care of my dogs and cats while I was traveling, and I will for sure book her again in the future. She went above and beyond, and it offered great peace of mind for me while I was away. Thank you so much, Alyssa! (Also, my cat who is extremely timid and has never come out of hiding for ANYONE, came out for Alyssa. There is no better review than that!)”

Normal Heights dog parents share their Rover experiences
Shay was absolutely phenomenal—truly one of the best sitters we’ve ever worked with! Our dog is very shy and nervous around new people, but Shay was so patient, gentle, and intuitive that he quickly warmed up to her and felt completely safe and at ease. That alone meant the world to us. She followed our (very detailed!) instructions perfectly and treated our home with the utmost care and respect, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It’s clear she genuinely loves what she does and goes above and beyond for both pets and their owners. We feel incredibly lucky to have found Shay and will 100% be booking with her again in the future. Highly, highly recommend!

Anne was absolutely amazing with my puppy, Rumi! She took such great care of him and made me feel completely at ease while I was away. You can really tell how much she loves and cares for animals. Rumi was happy, well cared for, and in great hands the entire time. I would 100% trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable and kind!

Mary did a great job walking my girls. I had a friend cancel last minute and she agreed to walk them with very short notice. I appreciated the photos she sent of them. She also helped with feeding them and putting on a tv show before leaving! Will be requesting her in the future.

needed a dog walker asap. Natalie responded quickly. she was very prompt. my pup was in love at first sight. although my pup was a brat on her first walk with Natalie, she returned happy. (it may have been a little hot for the girl!!). what pushed me over the edge (and never let Natalie go!!) was a Rover Report Card!! it lets one know (via a map and time prompter) where Natalie and pup went on their walk and the time it took!! never have I ever seen that before! it also shows if she pooped, etc!! wonderful idea and keep the dog walker honest. can't wait to book Natalie again!!
Kevin was an amazing dog walker! He was super responsive and friendly from the start, and it was clear he genuinely cared about my dog, Kit. He went above and beyond by giving her a long walk so she could really burn off her energy. When I got home, she was calm, happy, and relaxed—which says everything. I’d definitely recommend Kevin to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and attentive!

Alyssa is wonderful and patient with our Labrador pup who is going through his adolescent phase and scared of the world! She understands and takes her time with him. She is also wonderful with our other geriatric dog and cat, and has been very helpful with their quirks and watching them when they are post-surgical. We have used her for a few years and trust her with our fur kids!

Rachel is the one person I completely trust to care for my Charlie. She consistently goes above and beyond, treating her with the same love and attention as if she were her own. Charlie struggles with separation anxiety, but Rachel’s patience, kindness, and genuine care make all the difference. I truly don’t know what I’d do without her—I'd be lost without the incredible care she provides. I always feel at ease knowing she’s in such capable and compassionate hands.
