Shea-Lyn was fantastic taking care of our cat. He’s elderly, needs attention and medication twice a day. She confirmed his medication intake and played with him for a while which he really loved. Will definitely book her again!

TLDR: Giselle is amazing with both immediately friendly dogs and reactive dogs who need longer to warm up. Giselle was amazing with both of our girls! We have a labradoodle who is a true velcro dog and a terrier mix who is not a fan of strangers. We went through rover because we wanted our dogs to start getting used to new people. I was extremely nervous about leaving our terrier mix with someone new. She's not a biter but she does bark and charge at strangers who go near her. We scheduled a meet and greet a few days early with Giselle and she stayed until the terrier settled. During the actual drop ins, at first the terrier did not want to go to Giselle at all but Giselle was patient and sat with her to show her she was safe. By the second or third drop in, the terrier was not just okay with Giselle but genuinely excited to see her! We were so relieved that our dogs were comfortable while we were away.

Cecilia did an amazing job. She was on-time, followed the directions we left and gave extra snuggles to my fur babies. She will be our go to person moving forward. I appreciated her ability to wiggle the schedule and be flexible with my changing plans.

Ashley is the best sitter I have ever had. My dog is quite persnickety and does not warm up to everyone easily, but he is always calm, comfortable, and genuinely excited to see her. That alone speaks volumes about the level of care and patience she provides. She is dependable, communicative, and always goes above and beyond. Every time I return home, the house is somehow cleaner and more organized than when I left it. It gives me tremendous peace of mind knowing my pet and home are in such caring and capable hands. I cannot recommend Ashley highly enough.

About: I volunteer in animal rescue shelters, so I’ve been around all kinds of pets. I also nursed a parvo puppy until the virus went away. I’m a pre-vet college student from Monday through Thursday, but I’m free during weekends to care of your fur babies. I usually walk large dogs from shelters, so I have experience with dog walking. I know all dogs are different, so I’ll make sure your pet isn’t over exercising. I also know bloating can happen, so I am cautious of how much water and food they’re consuming.

Milagros did an excellent job taking care of our dog while we were away! Her communication was excellent and she sent so many pictures to keep us updated! I know maverick was in good hands and we will definitely be using her again for future needs. This was our first time using Rover/dog walking app and I 10/10 recommend her to anyone. Thank you Milagros!!

About: I have over 15 years of experience pet-sitting and I absolutely love taking care of furry children. I started pet-sitting as a child and I continued watching human's furry family members through graduate school I am an animal lover who has taken care of fur babies from zoo animals to domesticated companions in their home habitat. I make dogs feel as though they are on vacation when their humans are away. We have adventures at the beach, dog parks or your furry baby's favorite place. I recently moved to the South Bay with my own pup, Million, who I taught to communicate using AAC buttons like the viral sensation Bunny the Bernedoodle. It takes a lot of patience and reinforcement to train a dog to use a communication tool created for non-verbal children.

About: I’ve been caring for pets ever since I can remember! I’ve never lived in a household without a pet companion, and that’s exactly how I think it should be. I have experience with senior dogs, puppies, special needs dogs, and administering topical and oral medicine. I currently have a sweet-as-can-be cat Luna who is my whole world, and I’m sure your fur baby is yours, too! I like to consider myself someone both people and animals can depend on. I am currently a remote freelancer so I have plenty of flexibility and time to dedicate to pets that need care at the moment. I’m also comfortable accepting last minute bookings and adjusting my schedule to your pet’s needs! I have quite a spacious home and as I have a cat at the moment, I make sure my space is free of dust, clutter, human food animals may get to, and any plants that are toxic to animals when consumed. I make sure there is plenty of water and access to the litterbox for cats. Playtime is very important for me as I like to make sure pets have plenty of mental stimulation!

About: I’ve worked at a daycare and boarding for dogs and cats for over 4 years. I am extremely passionate and caring for your pet i want to make sure they feel at home. I am experienced in feeding, cleaning , walking ,administering medication but most importantly loving them. I understand senior pups aren’t like my younger pups but that’s okay because i will still make sure they get all the love and care they need and deserve! I’m currently available everyday, I want to continue my education but for now I am very passionate into loving and caring for your fur baby making them feel at home. The way i care for pets in my home is i always let pet parent bring all of your pets belongings to make them feel at home. I also follow all of instructions and ask detail for pet from pet parent to make sure I’m well informed on your pets schedule. For house sitting in clients home i would basically do the same and would follow any instructions pet parent chooses to tell me.

My cat was diagnosed with diabetes 2 weeks before my vacation. I was an emotional wreck and needed to find someone to take care of my baby while I was out of town. I scheduled a meet and greet with Melissa and instantly fell in love with her vibe. She took care of my fur baby for 3 and a half days. She came twice a day to feed and administer my cat insulin shots and cleaned her litter box. She made me feel comfortable and at ease with every check in appointment with detailed notes on how everything went. My cat is very standoffish, stubborn and a brat when I’m not around. I appreciated her patience and she wasn’t afraid of my kitty at all. She cared for my baby as it was her own. I would definitely recommend her to anyone that’s in need of a cat/dog sitter. She has earned my trust and I will be sure to book with Melissa in the future. THANKS AGAIN SO MUCH FOR THE LOVE AND CARE YOU GAVE TO MY BABY !!!

About: I’ve had cats and dogs in my life since I was born. I adopted two cats of my own and lived on and off with my dad and his dog since he was adopted five years ago. I love to let pets (but especially dogs) come to me which has made me friends with some of my friends most skiddish protective dogs! I am in an evening program for my graduate school so I am home throughout the day. I used to work in aviation (24/7/365 industry) so I am familiar with and can accommodate a variety of care schedules and needs! In my own home with my cats I clean the litter box daily, feed my cats twice daily, and in general you’ll find us hanging out in the office or living room where they’ll typically have one paw on my leg to know I’m there but have their space. I like to let them (& anyone else’s pets) come to me first and guide how much interaction they would like while staying cognizant of food, medication, and walk schedules.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mount Houston. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
