“Andrew took excellent care of my two dogs, Katie and Maddie. He is quick to respond to all messages and that gave me great peace of mind. The dogs were happy, well cared for, and clearly received plenty of attention. About: I think of myself as a pet grandparent: I get to spoil them with love and attention and then send them home safe and happy! Local Trust: Los Osos resident & homeowner for 25+ years. Consistent Care: I work from home as an artist and musician; your pet is rarely alone. Safe Play: Secure fenced yard for daily exercise, fetch, and zoomies. Active Routine: Personalized walks and playtime tailored to your dog’s energy. Flexible: Available for short-notice drop-ins and overnight stays. Peace of Mind: I use a calm approach to build quick bonds with all pets. 🌈 I am a work-from-home artist and musician with a background in nursing. Because I stay within a 5-10 minute radius of my home, I am always nearby for quick check-ins or last-minute needs. My schedule is flexible to match your pet's routine I offer a calm, drug-free and smoke free environment where safety is the priority. I am a responsible homeowner who knows how to handle household emergencies (water/gas shut-offs) and pet crises with a steady hand. My reliable car is always ready for transport if needed." I prefer to work from home so dogs that can be alone for a few hours at a time while I am home during the day is ideal. I can potentially bring them to my house as well. That is something we can discuss on an individual basis. I will do my best to stick to usual play and exercise routines. I have a reliable car and am experienced in dealing with pet emergencies. I can stay calm and deal with stressful situations if needed. I will respect your property and I know how to deal with house situations that may arise such as shutting off water, gas and electricity. I don't party or do drugs and am very clean. I can also do wound care and pet medications of all types, even subcutaneous fluids.
“Joan was great and very patient with Leilani, who is nervous around new people and other pets. We appreciated her care and understanding in assisting Leilani to feel comfortable in a new environment. Would highly recommend Joan to others.”

“Isabelle was such a great host for our dog Jayden. My wife and I traveled to Reno from out of town for an event. Our dog is a 15 year old lab that is mostly blind, mostly deaf and has a few other “old lady” problems. Despite all this Isabelle agreed to watch Jayden for a few hours. Isabelle’s communication before and during Jayden’s stay was exceptional as she kept us updated on how Jayden was doing and sent a few pics as well. Isabelle was also very flexible when we asked if we could drop Jayden off earlier than originally planned. Isabelle is a great dog sitter and made Jayden’s time away from us as comfortable as possible. My wife and I have total trust in Isabelle and will definitely use her again if ever in the area.”

“Natalie did a great job with our two little dogs. Her little girl seemed so excited to have them as quests. I was worry our one dog that gets separation anxiety would be a wreck when we got back, but to our surprise she seemed happy and fine. Our other dog who is very friendly was all smiles when he came back. She will do a great job with your pups.”

“Oli always has the best time with Katie! They go out on adventures to the park and to the beach, 2 to 3 walks a day, and they also snuggle on the couch. At the end of the day we have a happy and relaxed dog, as well as lots of pictures and a summary of all the fun they had. We couldn’t be more pleased with the care our Oli receives from Katie!”

“Rachel is a FANTASTIC soul! My dog immediately felt her loving energy! He will tremble and bolt if he is not feeling comfortable. He is 13 years old and has a tumor; she was very attentive and patient with him. I will definitely entrust my Teddy to her in the future. Thank you Rachel!!!”

“Emelie was very responsive, attentive and kept us up to date on how things were going with our pup Louie. He was a bit stressed being to be dropped off after a few days of car travel, but Emelie took him on a nice long walk to settle him down. Great location and safe spot in the middle of SLO. Thanks Emelie!”

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
