“I have used Rover before, I teach and train dog agility, and I work on Rover. I am particular. Sarah exceeded my expectations. My boys are timid with strangers, she completely won them over the first day and a week later I wasn’t sure they wanted us to come home. She has a way with dogs, she plays with them, gives them lots of attention, cuddles them and it shows - you can see in the pics they fell in love with her. Of course she is also very responsible, clean and sends the best pics! I am not giving Sarah a 5 star review… I’m giving her 10 ⭐️”

“This was Captain’s first time with Yolanda. She took care of him in our home for two days. Cap can be a handful because he’s reactive to dogs and cars. She did a great job of anticipating issues and redirecting his attention. Overall, Yolanda was very professional, gave us updates and photos twice a day and responded quickly whenever we tried to contact her. We’ll be happy to have her take care of him again.”

About: I’ve been taking care of pets - fish, dogs, cats, and birds primarily - for around 10 years. Possibly more. Absolutely love being able to assist elderly pups as well I’m currently a college student who has a lot of free time at various times during the day. Happily available to stay over as needed I play with and relax with the pets during the day and take them on walks as needed. Depending on age or size of the dog I try to give them one longer walk each day.
“Liz was a phenomenal sitter. We loved her warmth and kindness. Our baby gravitated to her right away. Liz made us feel comfortable which allowed us to go away a feel extremely comfortable. She communicated throughout the entire time and ensured us that everything was going smoothly. We hope to work with Liz again!”

“Destinee was amazing, she took care of my two dogs for a full day, and i can confirm they were great took care, meals and walks on time, always asking how she can help, it was a great experience for me and my dogs, if i ever need someone to take care of my dogs any other day I’ll absolutely go with her with no hesitation!!”

“Madeline watched my 3-month-old puppy a few times. My puppy loves her and feels safe with her. She is calm and loving and knowns how to handle an energetic puppy. Madeline sent me updates throughout the day with pictures. She is a wonderful pet sitter and we love to have her back. Highly recommend her.”

“Angela was great with all of our animals! She has a very easy going personality, but is also very attentive and responsible. We are glad to have found her to take of our pets and will certainly be reaching out to her again in the future!”

“Great and flexible dog sitter. Was able to adjust days and times as life happened and made us adjust our travel plans. Our dogs are not the easiest but they warmed to her quickly and it made for a great match.”

“Michele was the live-in cat sitter of my dreams but that I didn't expect to find. I appreciated the daily photos and little anecdotes she shared about how my fur babies were doing during our two weeks away. I also felt very comforted that my cats were receiving the attention that they're used to from us - very easy to tell because neither cat was exceptionally needy when we returned. I'm very happy with this first experience using rover.com and highly recommend Michele.”

“Wydia loved on our older chihuahuas in our home, and she had so much patience with our little Hershey. His temperament can be hard to handle due to his past treatment as a puppy, but she won him over. She treated our home with respect as well. She also sent daily pictures which was crucial in making us feel at ease. Couldn’t recommend her enough!”

“Aryanna was wonderful. The dogs seemed to like her and were content to be with her. Especially the one dog who is very anxious about everything and everyone. Aryanna also took the initiative to take care of some of the chores such as taking the trash out. I really appreciated that. I would definitely rebook with her.”

About: I love training dogs bodies and minds through exercise and mental stimulation. I’ve owned, walked and was a pet sitter for a variety of dogs. I’ve most recently owned/trained a puppy (he is now almost one). I’m currently working part-time and have a somewhat flexible schedule. Because of this, I will have plenty of time to love on and care for your pup! I am open to walking your dog on a leash, playing with it in your yard, or taking it to the local off-leash dog park.
“Katherine was amazing with my girls!! She was able to do a meet and greet before our booking and ever since was very responsive and kept me update all the time. At the time of her stay she was very respectful of our home, and took amazing care of my dogs. Definitely will book again!!”

“Professional, courteous, communicative, and extremely sweet/caring with my large (100lb+) dog. Lots of status updates and photographs during the sit. Everything I could ask for - thank you!”

Amanda and her daughter were INCREDIBLE!!! They were so attentive to our pups and gave them just as much love as we do when we’re home! I was completely at ease with them there!!! Pups were always smiling and tails wagging!! Very communicative and respectful!! Will for sure be booking her again!!!

Jessica sat with my girl Lilly for 6 days and did a stellar job. She is exceedingly professional but also compassionate and kind. She sent me numerous photos of Lilly to keep me posted and Lilly looked alert and happy in every one. This was only the second time I've had a dog sitter and I am still anxious about the process. But Lilly is 13 (albeit with lots of puppy energy) and I just don't want to leave her in a kennel cage anymore. I was not worried for one minute while away. And when I returned, I was happy to see her in good health and spirit and thee house exactly as I left it. I recommend Jessica without reservation.

Tess has been walking our dog Winston and just looked after him for a few days whilst we were away, she was fantastic! Looked after him really well even when our fire alarm went off randomly overnight - she made sure Winston was safe before fixing it. She was brilliant 😊
I wish I could give Yasmine a million stars! She is so attentive. When one of our dogs was having tummy issues, she offered to make her a plain meal to help. She is so responsive and sends so many pictures and updates. We were so nervous leaving our babies but she is a pro. 100% recommend her and we will be using her again in the future!

Ashley was phenomenal taking care of our dog and two cats while we were out of town. She took time to come over and visit before our scheduled booking to get to know the animals. While we were out of town she was in constant communication with us and sent us multiple pictures of our pets. We would be happy to have her watch our pets again. Thank you so much Ashley!!!

We can tell that Madison really enjoyed Petsitting our dog and bird based on Furbo videos. She was very attentive to a not quite 2 year old golden retriever who is used to constant engagement. Madison not only taught our dog new engagement games, but our dog was able to teach Madison how to play stalk and pounce!

Yolanda and Jayah house sat and watched my 2 dogs and 2 cats for 4 nights while my husband and I went on our babymoon. My pets are a little high maintenance (dogs are rambunctious and cats need meds) so it can be hard to find reliable care for that amount of time. Yolanda was a thorough communicator throughout our trip, and eliminated any anxiety I may have had about leaving my fur babies behind. Jayah clearly has a special gift with animals, and made fast friends with all of them. The house looked just as I left it, and all instructions were followed. I hope to hire this dynamic duo again the next time we are out of town, and highly recommend them to anyone else needing overnight care.

As always, Wydia was very communicative with us throughout our vacation to keep us updated on how our cat, Clea, was doing. She made sure to give Clea her insulin shots twice a day, along with everything else Clea needs (fresh water, food, playtime, etc.) Thank you, Wydia!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred MacGills Common walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in MacGills Common maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in MacGills Common choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
