“Ashley was wonderful and I will definitely request her next time. She was willing to be very flexible with the hours since which was very helpful to me for this sitting due to a family situation. She seemed to really care about my senior dog and didn't want to leave her alone at all, which really put my mind at ease because my old gal keeps falling and is unable to get up on her own sometimes and it breaks my heart to think she may be home alone struggling. She sent photos and updates often which gave me peace of mind while I was away.”
“Clara and her wife were amazing with our Kia. Our Family went away for 9 days and were nervous leaving behind our dog who can get anxious and nervous easily but she was in great hands and it seemed she was having her own vacation making friends. We appreciate all the love they gave Kira while we were away and would happily leave Kira in their care again. Thank you so much!!”

“Madeline watched my 3-month-old puppy a few times. My puppy loves her and feels safe with her. She is calm and loving and knowns how to handle an energetic puppy. Madeline sent me updates throughout the day with pictures. She is a wonderful pet sitter and we love to have her back. Highly recommend her.”

“I'm so glad that Majdoline was able to watch my dog and house-sit over the weekend. She was very quick to respond to any messages and gave several updates throughout the day with a ton of pictures, I never had to worry about a thing. She spent lots of time both giving my dog attention and letting her run around and play in the yard. She left everything in the house very neat and clean as well. I would absolutely ask her to pet-sit for me again!”

“Sarah was great with our boys. Both can be a little timid but they warmed up to Sarah at our meet & greet right away. She is very responsible and good with the dogs. We felt very comfortable knowing she was taking such good care of them.”

“Liz was a phenomenal sitter. We loved her warmth and kindness. Our baby gravitated to her right away. Liz made us feel comfortable which allowed us to go away a feel extremely comfortable. She communicated throughout the entire time and ensured us that everything was going smoothly. We hope to work with Liz again!”

About: I’ve been taking care of pets - fish, dogs, cats, and birds primarily - for around 10 years. Possibly more. Absolutely love being able to assist elderly pups as well I’m currently a college student who has a lot of free time at various times during the day. Happily available to stay over as needed I play with and relax with the pets during the day and take them on walks as needed. Depending on age or size of the dog I try to give them one longer walk each day.
“Conor was amazing! I had never had someone stay at my house before, and this was such a good experience. My two dogs loved her, and she sent photos and updates the whole time. She was super flexible with coordinating key drop off/pick up with my late and early travel plans. When I came home the house was absolutely spotless. I would 100% recommend!”

“Katherine is the best dog sitter we have ever had. She connected with our dog Peanut immediately. We felt very comfortable leaving Peanut with her. Katherine consistently updated us with pictures and information about our precious dog on a daily basis. It helped make our vacation special, knowing that our dog Peanut was in great hands. I will definitely use her again. She deserves a 5 star rating.”

“Alexis was great! She communicated very well and made us feel at ease while on vacation. We returned to our house in tip top shape and received photo updates of our dog while we were gone. Definitely would rebook again!”

“We have never used a sitter in our house before our dogs before but thought we should try it because one of our dogs get anxious going to other people's houses. Kathleen was such a great choice in a house/dog sitter. She was communicative, sent plenty of photos of the dogs, and overall went above and beyond in making sure they were well cared for while we were away for the weekend, including administering eyedrops to one of dogs who HATES getting them and walking a tough walker. We would 100% recommend Kathleen and will definitely be requesting her again for future house sits if she is available!”

“We needed a house sitter since our dog can get nervous in new places, and Claudia took such good care of him and followed all of our instructions, and sent us so many adorable pics. Plus, I’m convinced she left our place cleaner than we did. Highly recommend Claudia and will be asking for her help with dog sitting in the future!”

“Jamie is wonderful! She’s punctual, communicative, and caring. She spent lots of time with our dogs when we were away from the weekend and took great care of them and the house. She also sent lots of pics, which we loved. We can’t recommend Jamie enough! Looking forward to many future bookings with her.”

“They were both very kind and personable. When we got home, the dogs seemed super happy and not stressed. Very easy to communicate with. We hope to book with them again!”

“As always, Connie took great care of our two [giant, stinky, crazy] pups and the house looks great!! We got plenty of photos and updates and they are so happy!! We are so thankful for her allowing us to have a stress free trip every time we leave our babies with her.”

“Rob was respectful, communicative, and provided daily photo updates of the dogs, which I really appreciated. I felt completely comfortable having him stay in our home, and it was clear my dogs were well cared for and happy. I would gladly trust him again in the future.”

“Erica did a great job taking care of our home and two kittens while my family was on vacation. She sent us regular updates and left our home in clean and good condition. We appreciated her flexibility when our flight has to be rescheduled. She has a fun personality and we enjoyed her sense of humor. I know our kitties loved her as well. Will rebook in the future. THANKS!!”

“Jason was fantastic with my two dogs, including my Belgian Malinois who is mot always the easiest. Jason was great at caring for the boys, communicating frequently and helpfully, providing timely updates and being on time with their schedule. He is a kind and personable sitter and I could tell that he genuinely cared about my dogs. So grateful to have found Jason!!”

Shanae was fantastic with our German Shepherd. He gets pills multiple times a day and she went above and beyond caring for and spending time with him. He absolutely loved her and we were so glad she was with him for the time we were away. We highly recommend her and she is truly someone who will love your pet while you’re gone. She sent daily photos and videos, and spoiled him every single day. She is the best!!!

Majdoline did an amazing job house sitting for a week with 5 dogs. She was flexible and easy to communicate with and also went above and beyond caring for the house and yard. We came home to happy doggies and will be using her again and would definitely recommend her!
Johnny was great at communicating early and often. Made sure he met both our pets and came to the apartment beforehand to make sure everything was a good fit. He sent pictures and updates daily on our vacation and took very good care of our apartment. I definitely will book with Johnny again and would recommend him to anyone looking.

We "reserved" Ava for a trip we're taking in May. We had an opportunity for a "trial run" with her for the overnight stay Feb. 7-8. We had a meet and greet with her the weekend before our overnight. We were anxious to meet and get to know Ava. Not only were we leaving our precious Finn with someone we really didn't know, we were also leaving her in the care of our home. You know how there are people you meet for the first time and you just click? This is how we felt about Ava. From the moment she walked into our home for the meet and greet, it felt like we'd known her for quite a while--comfortable, friendly and easy going. Finn felt the same as he went right to her and was comfortable the whole time Ava was here. We left her with Finn and the house for the night, knowing both were in good hands. We were right. Finn greeted her at the door and didn't seem "sad" to see us go. We got texts from Ava and a picture to let us know all was well. When we got home, it didn't look like anyone had been here. She cared for our home as she cared for Finn. We look forward to having Ava return in May--and probably before that as well. She's wonderful!

Jaci did a great job house-sitting my old pup. He has a number of health issues, and she asked great questions about his care during our meet & greet. With her background in veterinary care, she was knowledgeable of his medications and I felt secure that he'd be in very capable hands.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Annapolis Junction walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Annapolis Junction maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Annapolis Junction choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
