Clara and her wife were amazing with our Kia. Our Family went away for 9 days and were nervous leaving behind our dog who can get anxious and nervous easily but she was in great hands and it seemed she was having her own vacation making friends. We appreciate all the love they gave Kira while we were away and would happily leave Kira in their care again. Thank you so much!!

Lindsey took such good care of Bailie. Usually when we travel we come home to a sad and stressed puppy. This time Bailie was happy and content. I’m so grateful for the care Lindsey provided for our fur baby.

About: I’ve been a lifelong pet owner and have always had a genuine love for animals. I’ve cared for my mother’s and sister’s dogs, as well as my neighbor’s cat, giving me experience with different personalities and care routines. I treat every pet as if they were my own and understand how important they are to their families. Whether it’s a playful puppy, a senior pet, or a shy cat, I’m committed to providing patient, reliable, and loving care. My schedule is very flexible, allowing me to provide attentive care and accommodate your pet’s routine. I do train mixed martial arts in the evenings, but I have plenty of availability throughout the day for walks, drop-ins, and quality time with your best friend. I care for every pet as if they were my own by following their normal routine as closely as possible. I make sure they have fresh food and water, regular potty breaks, exercise, playtime, and plenty of attention. I also take pride in keeping their environment clean, respecting your home, and providing regular updates so you can feel confident while you’re away. My goal is to create a safe, comfortable, and stress-free experience for your pet in the place they know best.

We’re Weimaraner owners and having big dogs can be a challenge when you’re looking for the right sitter who will meet all your dogs needs so they don’t become destructive or depressed and Robert met all of our dog’s needs on our first trip away after losing our older dog. I will be recommending Robert in the future. He went above and beyond by helping us with our plants as well.

Katherine is the best dog sitter we have ever had. She connected with our dog Peanut immediately. We felt very comfortable leaving Peanut with her. Katherine consistently updated us with pictures and information about our precious dog on a daily basis. It helped make our vacation special, knowing that our dog Peanut was in great hands. I will definitely use her again. She deserves a 5 star rating.

Sometimes you’ll only know if the Sitter was great by how the dogs react when you walk through the door. I’m happy to say that after being gone on vacation, I came home to two very calm and happy dogs. In the past, I’ve had sitters where when I’ve come home the dogs were uneasy and full of anxiety. So it’s really important to know that the dogs are calm and we’re not stressed out while we were gone. It takes a dog person to be able to give this kind of love. I’m so thankful.

I'm so glad that Majdoline was able to watch my dog and house-sit over the weekend. She was very quick to respond to any messages and gave several updates throughout the day with a ton of pictures, I never had to worry about a thing. She spent lots of time both giving my dog attention and letting her run around and play in the yard. She left everything in the house very neat and clean as well. I would absolutely ask her to pet-sit for me again!

About: I moved away from my parents, but have been the primary care of my dog since she was a pup. I need more animal love! I've also dog sat for my grandmother and neighbors! I work as a teacher nearby, I get off work at 3:30 most days and can be over by 3:45. If it is summer time, it will be lots of time to spend! I care a lot about animals both in how I treat them, and how they are handled by me and others. Obviously you have your rules with your pets that I will follow, but I will never be aggressive, I will treat them with love and care like they are my own. I will also play a lot with them if they want, I will match the energy of your pet!

She was very understanding and patient with him, given the anxiety. Knowing Sarah was with him gave us peace of mind so we could enjoy our time away. Thank you so much Sarah for taking such great care of our boy!!

Kristina is an EXCELLENT, caring, trustworthy and attentive pet sitter. We are quite neurotic about our pups, and it’s been a while since we have had to use a sitter. We were so worried about them! They are both hounds so they’re “runners” and one is extremely shy, fearful of loud sounds, and anxious. Kristina provided us true peace of mind! She sent lots of photos the entire time, and told us cute stories of their antics throughout each day. I highly recommend Kristina. You should stop at her name and book her now! She’s wonderful!

Regina is such a wonderful sitter. She watched my very anxious dog for 2 weeks and I came back to a happy dog. She stayed in my home and everything was clean. She sent me photos of Sadie (my dog) daily and gave updates on her behavior as well. She even came by after just to visit and see how she was doing. I highly recommend Regina. Bonus she has military base access!

We hired Rachel to help while we were away for several days. I was nervous to leave, as my dog is very old and needs a lot of help (namely with getting up onto his hind legs). Rachel was wonderful with him and took the time (through two pre-visits) to meet Parker and understand his needs. She kept me updated every day with pictures and updates. She was also kind enough to check on our house after a huge storm rolled through the area. I highly recommend Rachel to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and compassionate sitter who will treat your pet(s) like their own.

We "reserved" Ava for a trip we're taking in May. We had an opportunity for a "trial run" with her for the overnight stay Feb. 7-8. We had a meet and greet with her the weekend before our overnight. We were anxious to meet and get to know Ava. Not only were we leaving our precious Finn with someone we really didn't know, we were also leaving her in the care of our home. You know how there are people you meet for the first time and you just click? This is how we felt about Ava. From the moment she walked into our home for the meet and greet, it felt like we'd known her for quite a while--comfortable, friendly and easy going. Finn felt the same as he went right to her and was comfortable the whole time Ava was here. We left her with Finn and the house for the night, knowing both were in good hands. We were right. Finn greeted her at the door and didn't seem "sad" to see us go. We got texts from Ava and a picture to let us know all was well. When we got home, it didn't look like anyone had been here. She cared for our home as she cared for Finn. We look forward to having Ava return in May--and probably before that as well. She's wonderful!

Jaci did a great job house-sitting my old pup. He has a number of health issues, and she asked great questions about his care during our meet & greet. With her background in veterinary care, she was knowledgeable of his medications and I felt secure that he'd be in very capable hands.

Mari did absolutely amazing job with my Bella. We were gone 13 days and I got constant updates and pictures. Bella was treated as Mari,s own baby. Bella had no issues or accidents. Our house was left spotless as well. I can't thank Mari enough for a marvelous job she did. I felt like a relative was staying with my Bella. Mari cares for animals as her own children. I highly recommend her services to all dog parents. 🐕

FAQs for House Sitting - Fort Meade

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Fort Meade on Rover is $36.63 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 10,103 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fort Meade. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fort Meade walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fort Meade maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Meade choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fort Meade. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
