“Sue is a great sitter who was very accommodating and made our pup feel right at home. She followed our instructions and put our minds at ease and provided plenty of photos and updates on how our pup was doing. Will definitely ask her to watch our dog again in the future!”

“Manuel was excellent! He took great care of Tre and was very responsive. I would highly recommend Manuel and will definitely be requesting his services again. Thank you so much!”

“Wow! What an exceptional experience. Melanie was so lovely and attentive. Our large breed dog Jerome had major surgery so we reserved Melanie months in advance for Thanksgiving travel. She was super accommodating, visited Jerome prior to the reservation and invited us to visit her home to assure us he’d be in a secure space as he continued his healing. She regularly sent adorable photos of Jerome to show us he was content. Melanie is a GREAT caregiver, not just a dog sitter. She’ll always be our first choice in the future.”

“Dee was absolutely a lifesaver over the weekend for me! She watched my 8 year old mini-schnauzer for two nights and sent regular updates with photos. He was just relaxing with her two dogs and looked very comfortable there. I’ve rebooked for this week for a day stay. I highly recommend!”

“We had such a great experience with Yuberkis. She took wonderful care of our dog while we were away for 11 days. She is great with communication, asking questions, and sending updates. I knew my dog was in wonderful hands the entire time we were away! Thank you!!”

“Let me start by saying this was my first time using Rover ever. Andrew was so helpful and reassuring and explained everything to me. Additionally, while I was away he kept me up to date with texts and pictures of Finn. Finn had a great time with Andrew and you can just tell Andrew knew exactly how to best care for my puppy. Thank you so much!!”

“Django loves being cared for by Tracy and Steve. He is excited and happy when we arrive and he doesn’t look back, letting me know he feels safe and secure, which is really important for a sensitive young dog with a rough rescue in his past. While I hate being away from him, I am confident he is receiving excellent care and enjoying his canine companions, the pictures they send show him having a blast! Highly recommended for both day care and boarding!”

“Kate was great and was so flexible with our crazy holiday travel plans. She sent frequent photos and assured me my dog was doing just fine. She was communicative, prompt and was a total life saver for us! Would absolutely book with Kate and her sweet family again.”

“Amazing experience with Mimi’s dog sitter! They were caring, reliable, and kept us updated the whole time. Mimi was happy and well taken care of. Highly recommend!”

“Paul was great looking after Nellie over thanksgiving! Sent a bunch of photos throughout the week of her with his family and gave updates throughout her stay. Nellie can be a bit shy initially and Paul gave her the time and patience to come out of her shell and fell more comfortable with his family. Will definetly use Paul again!”

About: I feel what makes me different from other candidates is that I have treats for them. I make sure they are always comfortable. I give you updates on how they are doing. I know as dog parents sometimes we stress of knowing how they are. I also have been working taking care of dogs since I was 15. It was helped me learn a lot through the years Taking care of your fur baby fits in my daily routine because I have extra time and I enjoy going on walks and they bring so much joy. What makes my home safe is that I live a safe area. There is a park across the street across the street. They also get the backyard. There are no kids and they will monitored.
“Michele is very responsive and also excellent with keeping us updated on how our 2 furry ones were doing. So glad we found her and our furry ones grew fond of her. We definitely recommend her to others and we will always contact her for our future stays.”

“This was the first time our 2 girls Juniper and Honey have ever stayed overnight anywhere since we rescued them 5 years ago. We felt confident having Carolina watching our girls. Prior to their stay we did a meet and greet. Carolina has a very calm demeanor, and we were very confident that the girls would be comfortable in her home. She sent us pictures and gave us updates of how they were doing, which was nice. When we picked them up they were very happy, so we'll definitely be using her services again.”

“Thank you so much for watching Duncan, Carine! From your communication to all the great pictures, we felt so comfortable knowing that Duncan was in great hands with you. We will definitely rebook with you again!”

“Sharon was able to take my booking at short notice and even took the time to meet me before I confirmed. Kept in touch brilliantly with updates and lovely photos of Poppy during her stay. I would definitely use Sharon again. Felt very secure leaving Poppy with her.”

“This is the second time our dog Charlie has stayed with Tynesha and her family. They take great care of him, give him lots of love, share photos throughout the time we are away. In addition to walks, there is a nice big fenced back yard where he can run. If you have to be away, you really could not ask for more.”

“I will never bring my dogs anywhere else - “Mr. Jonathan” (as my kids call him), gives me peace of mind that my pups are feeling at home and well taken care of while we are away.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Livingston
Our dog, Coach, had a dream stay with Kristen over Christmas. He was treated like royalty. She handled his food and meds like the pro she is, but also carved out a path for him so he wouldn’t have to walk on the snow. She sent several videos a day, he looked SO happy. Can’t wait for the next opportunity to board him at Kristen’s house. He looked like he didn’t want to leave!!

Anna is such an amazing doggy host. Theo was so adorable and friendly. Her backyard is absolutely perfect. It's huge, wide open, totally fenced in, so much flat grass and even a patio for Reggie to cool off on. Reggie didn't want to leave when we picked him up and when we got home Reggie fell asleep so quick. It was such a relief to find such an amazing host who treated my dog like her own. 5 ⭐️'s all around!!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
