“Jonathan minded both our dogs, a Cairn terrier and a German Shepherd, while we were on a ten day cruise. He provided us with video updates on our pups on a regular basis. When we picked up the pups, they were in great spirits and we could tell that they had a wonderful time at Jonathan;s home, particularly in his fenced in backyard.”

“Amy was wonderful. She took such good care of our boy. This was our first experience with Rover and Amy made it so easy! She kept us updated our entire trip, sent photos and administered all of his medications with no problem. We were so thankful for her!”

“This was my puppy’s first time not sorting at home since I got her in November and I was terrified. Maisha offered a video call, showed me her home and where my pup would sleep, and answered all 800 of my questions. This is my first pet ever so I have no idea what to do, bring, or expect and Maisha made me feel so comfortable. Safe to say, I’ve found my dog sitter for life💜”

“Nadine & Tom were fantastic caretakers for our dog, Ellie. This was our first time using someone outside of family to watch her, so we were a bit nervous, but we couldn’t have been more thrilled with the experience. We were looking for someone warm and attentive who would give Ellie personalized care, and that’s exactly what we found with Nadine and Tom. Ellie can be anxious around other dogs, so it meant so much to us that she was able to stay with Nadine and Tom one-on-one. They truly made her feel comfortable and at home. We especially appreciated the daily photos and thoughtful updates, which gave us such peace of mind while we were away. We highly recommend Nadine & Tom and would absolutely book with them again.”

“We used David and his family all summer! Milo has an amazing time there and very well taken care of- and my dog is very high energy and still a puppy and they are always so kind! Definitely our go to family now on Rover!”

“Highly recommend Teresa. She took amazing care of Coco providing regular updates, photos, and plenty of love. Coco came home happy and well cared for. I’ll definitely book with them again!”

“Jessica took great care of our Bella while we were away. We were grateful for the regular updates with photos/videos that Jessica provided to us that helped to reassure us that Bella was doing well. Thanks Jessica!”

“Vanessa and Kyla are fantastic! They were so good with my temperamental dog and great to work with. I had a last minute request for pet sitting that changed multiple times. Through all the changes, they were so accommodating. Focus was always on what was best for my dog. Thank you!!”

“Melanie, simply put, is one of the very best dog sitters we have ever come across. Our beloved beagle is a senior dog with health issues and anxiety, and Melanie puts her right at ease. She takes amazing care of her, as if she was her own. Melanie sends us pictures and updates and it makes us so much more comfortable to know our dog is comfortable with Melanie. We can tell as soon as we enter her home that our pup is happy to be there. I really don't know what we'd do without Melanie! She's truly terrific and we are so grateful.”

“I feel bad for myself when my dogs have a good time without me. - but THEY LOVE GOING TO DEB’S! An overnight and no problems, no starving themselves, no crying all night. Just a regular day only without me. How lucky am I to have access to this help for my furr babies (and for my soul)!”

“Karina was absolute amazing with our senior dog. She took such good care of her and sent us pictures with updates! We would highly recommend her to anyone who wants a loving place for their dog to stay!”

“Amanda was absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond in every way. Her communication was excellent from start to finish, which gave us such peace of mind while we were away. It was immediately obvious that she truly loves dogs and genuinely enjoys spending time with them — this is not just a job for her, but something she clearly does with care and heart. Norman was in great hands, and we felt completely comfortable knowing Amanda was looking after him. She was thoughtful, responsible, warm, and attentive, and we came home to a happy, well-cared-for pup. We would highly recommend Amanda to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring to watch their dog.”

“Tracy and Steven were excellent sitters for our two dogs over their long weekend stay. One of our dogs, Louie, can be a nervous guy so it's nice to know he's in excellent hands! They sent picture updates and made us feel totally at ease!”

“Our dog Monster had a fantastic stay with Michelle. We felt very comfortable leaving him with her family for 9 days while we were away. She provided multiple updates throughout our trip, and it was easy to tell Monster was having a great time. Highly recommend!”
“Riti was absolutely wonderful! She watched our girl, Lady, for a few days and it was a great experience from start to finish. Riti was super communicative leading up to and during the stay, sending tons of photos, which I really appreciated. Riti took care to follow the long list of care instructions I left with her as well. I would highly recommend Riti, and I will definitely be using her again in the near future! 💖🐶”

“Chelsea cared for our two senior dogs over the weekend and we really appreciate how accommodating she was with our schedule. We got pictures and updates and I knew they were being well cared for. We’re happy yo have found someone so well experienced with dogs so close to home. Would definitely re-book with Chelsea next time the need arises.”

Vanessa and Kayla were amazing! They took such great care of our dog Biscotti and sent us so many updates and photos while we were away, which we really appreciated. It made us feel so much better knowing she was in such good hands. We would definitely use them again!

Kayla and Vanessa were wonderful hosts for our dog Cusco! They are super sweet and welcoming, and have lots of experience. They sent us cute photos the entire stay and Cusco looked very happy. Communication was topnotch--thorough and transparent. They really took the time to get to know Cusco's needs/schedule/personality. Peace of mind is priceless when it comes to care for our furry ones, and we definitely had that. 100% would rebook with them. Thank you ladies!!

Yi Fei is an amazing cat sitter! She took great care of my cat and was very attentive. Every day, she sent me detailed updates with lots of photos, which made me feel so comfortable. My cat was very happy staying with her—so happy that my cat didn't even want to leave! I highly recommend Yi Fei to anyone who needs a kind and caring cat sitter.

Rex always enjoys his time Trevor, Bydette, and their kids. He loves being in a family home, getting to meet and play with a few other dogs, and get outside in their grassy yard. We feel confident while we're away that he is not only cared as an individual pup, but he is enjoyed by the family as well!

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Gabriel took such amazing care of our Moon, while we were away. From the very first message, he was friendly, communicative, and clearly experienced. We got regular updates, photos, and little notes that showed how much attention and affection our baby was getting. It gave us total peace of mind knowing Moon was in such good hands. When we came home, Moon was happy, relaxed, and clearly well loved. We’ll absolutely be booking with Gabriel again — highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly reliable and caring sitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
