About: I've always been an animal lover and grew up in Suffolk county caring dogs, chickens, quail and rodents! I'm the go-to pet care person for my friends and family and would love the opportunity to care for your pets! I'm a former volunteer of Save-A-Pet in Port Jeff Station where I cared for dozens of cats every weekend. I have experience with animals of all ages. I am comfortable dispensing medication for aging or ill pets. I've also cared for puppies and have even assisted in delivering a litter of goldendoodles! My pets are always a part of the family and I'd treat yours the same way! I'm currently a contractor worker for animation and advertising. Because my work is project and delivery based my schedule is flexible. I care for pets during the day and do my contract work in the late evenings so I'll have plenty of time to devote to your pets. I treat all animals with the care I would show to my own pets. I take care instructions seriously and respect each animals needs and preferences to ensure their comfort and safety.
“My very fussy old kitty, Rue, doesn't take too many people but she loves Victoria! This is the second time i've used victoria for daily visits while on vacation and she is excellent in her care for my cat, her needs, and in providing Rue with the extra attention she is craving. She is the only cat sitter I will use!”

“Kelly was great! She was so patient with my shy cat and even sat with her while she ate. I had such peace of mind while she took care of my furbabies. I will definitely rebook her again 😻😻”

“Jordan took great care of Mona while I was away for several days. Mona can be sensitive to changes in routine, and Jordan was calm, patient, and very attentive in helping her feel comfortable. She was communicative, reliable, and made sure Mona’s routine stayed consistent, which gave me peace of mind while traveling. I appreciated how thoughtful she was in making sure Mona was well cared for and comfortable. Over the course of the visits, Mona became more relaxed and even playful, which really speaks to Jordan’s approach and attentiveness. Jordan is responsible, kind, and clearly cares about the animals she works with. I would absolutely recommend her and would gladly book with her again.”

“Staci took excellent care of my 19-year-old cat who has CKD and special needs. I left an extensive sheet of instructions for her and she followed them all. She is always on time. Wonderful communication with cute photos. She's a great photographer! I would highly recommend any pet owner to any pet owner. You can trust her to give your pet the best care! I will be a repeat customer.”

“Samantha is very reliable. Takes pics of my cats, leaves a note on how they’re doing leaving me relieved when I’m away. I have used her in the past and will continue to use her for services.”

“Amanda was excellent. Extremely responsive, punctual, and and provided us with frequent updates/photos. She took care of our pup while we were away via pop in visits. Everything went well. I’d highly recommend and will definitely be requesting her services in the future.”

“I had never had a Pet Sitter before and I picked Madison to be the first one and I never could’ve chosen a better Pet Sitter! She took wonderful care of my cat family and they are my family. They’re my kids. I have four of them she showed up every day that I asked her too. She took care of the kids so wonderfully. I can’t even begin to tell you it was awesome! I would recommend Madison as a pet sitter to anybody and I can’t wait till my next trip because I will be requesting if she is free for her to watch my kittens again! She took wonderful care of them. She bought in a box for me that was delivered. I didn’t even know it was going to come and she had no problem with that she showed up on time stayed as long as she was supposed to played with the cat. Send me pictures of playing with the cats and cats are your family. That’s really really important! I have no children. They are my children and she watched my children perfectly thank you Madison!”

“Tricia was wonderful with our 2 cats. We were away for a weekend for our daughter’s wedding so we needed someone that would care for them like we would. Tricia did that & more. It was wonderful to not have to worry about our fur babies while we were celebrating our human baby. Thank you Tricia!”

“Kimberly did an amazing job with our cat. In the past he has been shy around new people but he seemed to take to Kimberly immediately, the pictures shared made it look like he was treating her the same why he interacts with us, curling up next to her and requesting to be petted. We appreciated the constant communication on how he was doing giving us peace of mind and letting us enjoy our trip rather than spend it worrying about the cat.”

“As always, Emma and Trent are the best. We’ve been lucky that they’ve been available when we needed someone to care for our girls while we needed to be away for several hours. We added another pup this time and Emma was welcoming to her as well. Dowdy, my granddaughters Chesapeake Bay Retriever can be a little excitable so we had a short meet and greet before we left for the evening. The meet and greet went exceptionally well so we felt very comfortable leaving all three of our furry girls with Emma and Trent. We highly recommend Emma and Trent to anyone needing a sitter for their furry friends. Our girls live them as well!”

About: I was a teacher for 4 years and therefore have a lot of patience. I have had dogs and cats in my house throughout my life and love them dearly. I have also trained puppies before. I have my own small business and am looking for something in the mornings to do. I am also getting married next year and would love some extra income to pay for the wedding I love playing with the dogs in the backyard, as well as taking them for walks if applicable with a harness and leash. I’m careful with making sure the fences are fully closed and any gates that are needed
“Beth was amazing and really came through at the last minute! She gave my dogs a nice walk and then hung out with them on the couch, which is their favorite thing. 😊”

About: Since I was 4 years old we had dogs at home, a boxer mix and a poodle. Later on when I was 15 my mom got a pug, and then another one while my sister got a big pit mix with special needs. And 7 years ago I adopted a dog of my own, a 60lb hound mix, who's the light of my day. I've walked all the dogs in my family, and taken care of them when needed. With my own dog, I do everything for him, from baths, playtime, walks, roadtrips, cuddle and I love him, his medical care is up to date and I always make sure he's happy and healthy. I've also watched over friends dogs and cats, and follow all the rules I've been given, every dog ans cat is different and unique and deserves the same respect and care. I am available weekdays after 5:30pm (except for Tuesdays) Weekends I'm usually available, I can be flexible with my plans. I do update my schedule regularly. I cannot dog sit in my home. But I will love to walk your dog(s) in your neighborhood, take them on a hike, take them on drives, as well as staying over for a few hours. I'll follow your rules with no problem and I'll give my outmust attention, respect and love to your dog(s). Meet and greets would be preferable. As well as letting me know of any health or behavioral concerns your dog(s) might have so I can give individualized care.
About: My background in canine care began at the Little Shelter Animal Adoption Center in Huntington, NY in 2008. I was employed there for several years as a dog walker and socializer, working with a wide variety of dogs and puppies from many different walks of life. All of the dogs were rescues, and so special care needed to be provided, with exercise, playtime, feeding, and even medication distribution. After working at the shelter, I found myself at a few local grooming parlors, working as a bather. As you've probably experienced, most dogs do not love being bathed and groomed, and so I would try my very best to make them comfortable in the unfamiliar situation they were in, taking the time to check in on them frequently and give them lots of reassurance and loving. Patience goes a long way! In January of 2015 I had my first two-month long house and pet sitting job. However, since then I've been working a full time office job and have been unable to enjoy much time with canine companions. I will regularly pet sit for close friends and family, but I'm ready to spend more time around furry friends! I'd love to meet you and your pup and ensure that they're properly taken care of and loved while you're out on the weekend, working, or away on vacation! I'm currently working part-time, with a very flexible schedule, so there's a good chance I'll be able to accommodate your scheduling needs! Reach out to me with any questions. I have two cats at who are cautious of other animals, so I'm happy to care for your pet in your home! I'd love to learn about your pet's routine and preferences to provide them the best care possible.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lake Grove
We are so grateful for the wonderful care you gave our two cats for about two weeks. You took the time to understand each of their personalities and knew exactly how to care for them without disrupting their usual routines. It was clear that you genuinely cared about them and respected their individual needs and personalities. Knowing that they were comfortable, happy, and able to stay in their normal routine while we were away gave us great peace of mind. Thank you so much for taking such good care of our cats. We truly appreciate your kindness, patience, and thoughtful care, and we would be very happy to have you look after them again!

Kate took amazing care of our cats Paisley and Pepper. There litter box was clean and they where well fed. Even my outside feral cat Freddie got his food and water. I received pictures with every check in she even got Freddie. I would highly recommend Kate to any pet owner. You can trust her to give your cats the best of care. I would definitely ask for her on our next vacation.

Linda is a wonderful dog sitter, you can tell she truly loves what she does. She was so kind and caring towards our dogs and sent great updates. She was always on time and was great with communicating. I’m always nervous when going away and leaving our dogs, having Linda watch them really made me feel so much more at ease and I was able to enjoy our vacation much more because of her.

Paige was amazing with our skittish, hard to win over cat - spent time petting and giving her attention each day. Our cat is generally slow to warm up to new people but snuggled up to Paige in no time. Paige was communicative and reliable and sent lots of pictures each day.
If you're looking for someone to care for your animals as if they were her own, I highly recommend Katelyn. She took care of my three cats while I was away, and she was incredibly reliable, compassionate, and attentive. After every visit, Katelyn sent me photos and videos along with updates, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was such a comfort to see the cats eating, relaxing, and interacting with her. What meant the most to me was how quickly the cats trusted her. They welcomed her right away and even allowed her to pet them. The biggest surprise was Brown Bear, who is usually very sensitive to touch and doesn't warm up to people easily. Seeing him feel so comfortable with her says everything about her gentle nature. It's clear she genuinely loves animals, and they know it. My cats were so well cared for, and I know they'll miss seeing her. I wouldn't hesitate to trust her with them again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and loving pet caregiver.
Kelly came by ahead of time to go over Cookie’s care instructions, even in the rain, which I really appreciated. She was punctual, attentive, and took the time to understand everything thoroughly. That level of commitment gave me a lot of confidence going into the booking.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
