“Fantastic. Stayed the full hour, followed all instructions, and my pups were calm and happy when I got home. It was a relief knowing they’re in good hands when I’m away. I’ll definitely be booking again. Highly recommend!”

“Perfect! John was so very nice and friendly to both me and Teddy. He knew just how to treat a young dog with very little experience walking along with a strange person and also handle the anxiety Teddy gets when he sees or hears larger animals. Our experience(s) were great and we will book with you again John. Thank You, Donna, Julia, and Teddy”

“Christine has been AMAZING with my two babies. They love her dearly and I truly feel they are safe with her. I knew Christine was a perfect fit when my baby Mia, who’s standoffish at first let Christine pet her and Mia loved it. I’m so happy having Christine as a someone who cares for my babies. Thank you Christine😊”

“Jessica is highly knowledgeable and comfortable with dogs. My dog is very shy, and Jessica was incredibly patient and responsive to my dog's cues. Very grateful I found someone like her!!”

About: I have taken care of dogs since I was 10 years old. I was responsible for walking the family dog when I was younger, volunteered at a shelter walking dogs every Saturday morning for 5 years, and have owned a dog myself for the last 20 years. My current dog, Bruce, and I are a registered therapy dog team, which required a lot of training and building of trust between us. He's a border collie (though he's slowed down in his old age) that needs his daily walks and play time. I understand how stressful it can be to leave your pets with someone. You need to be able to trust them and I promise to take care of your dog with as much love and care as I take care of my own. I have 4 cats, so you pup MUST be good with cats. I work from home everyday so I am able to take care of potty breaks as needed and provide attention and playtime throughout the day. Building trust with an animal is etremely important. I am careful to keep an eye on body language so that I know when an animal wants more or less attention, needs to go for a walk, or needs to play. My own dog has been trained to walk on a loose leash by my side and does not pull. I've had plenty of experience walking shelter dogs who had no training though, so I can handle quite a bit. I regularly interact with my cats depending upon what type of interaction they want. I have two cats who love to play with toys on strings, and two other cats who prefer to be showered with pets. I am a believer that if you pay attention the animal will let you know what it's boundaries are.
About: Hi, I'm Tom! I've spent over four decades living with and loving animals, and I've never lost that "avid" spark for a day spent with a dog. I'm an active person who genuinely enjoys being outdoors, so if your dog has energy to burn, they've met their match! I truly enjoy working with dogs of all shapes, sizes, and ages. Whether it's a slow, gentle stroll for a senior pup, a playful walk for a growing puppy, or a high-energy trek for a large breed, I adapt my pace to meet your dog's specific needs. While I love the little guys, I am also more than capable of handling "gentle giants" and strong pullers with confidence and care. I'm well-versed in using various walking gear, from standard leashes to front-clip harnesses, ensuring every dog stays safe and controlled regardless of their size. Whether it's a brisk neighborhood power-walk or exploring local trails like Durand Eastman or Lucien Morin Park (two of my dog's favorites), I tailor every outing to your dog's fitness level. I'm not just there to "do the job"—I'm there to make sure your pup gets the physical exercise and mental stimulation they need to be happy and tired by the time they get home. In my personal life, I am also a primary caregiver for my mother, who manages daily medical conditions. Because of this, staying on a strict schedule, managing precise routines, and being deeply observant is second nature to me. I bring that exact same level of patience, compassion, and structure to every animal under my supervision. I'm available every day from 11 am - 3 pm Dog walking: 30 or 60 minute neighborhood strolls. Drop in visits: Short check-ins for feeding, potty breaks, or playtime in client's home. Pet Taxi: Adventure Excursions: for trips to the groomer, vet, and daycare. Doggy Shuttle: Solo or group hikes and adventures at some of our fine local parks Senior and Medical Care: Medication administration (pills or injections) and gentle strolls with backup wagon assist if needed. Puppy specialized care: Frequent short visits tailored for training and socialization needs of dogs under one year old. No extra charge for basic feeding or oral medication administration... Safety is my top priority, and I take a proactive approach to ensure every pet in my care is secure and comfortable. With over 40 yrs experience, I've learned that anticipation is key especially with large breeds. I am always vigilant about my surroundings and focused entirely on your dog. Gear check: I perform a thorough check of all leashes, collars, and harnesses before every walk to ensure they are in perfect working order. On-leash Only: For maximum safety, I keep all dogs on leash during our outings, even in off-leash areas, unless we are in a 100% secure, fenced in yard. Environmental awareness: I avoid interactions with unfamiliar dogs or people on walks to prevent any unpredictable situations. I am also highly mindful of the weather, ensuring paws are protected from hot pavement and that pups stay hydrated. Home Security: When entering and exiting your home, I use extra caution to prevent "door dashing." I treat your home with the same respect and care I give my own. After our visit or walk, i take a moment to send you a detailed "Report Card." You'll get a summary of our route, their behavior, and-of course- at least 2-3 great action shots from our time together. I treat every schedule with the same reliability I'd want for my own pets. Rochester weather can be unpredictable! For the safety of your pet, I may shorten walks during extreme heat (90+) or dangerous wind chills. In these cases, we will spend the remaining time playing indoors or doing mental enrichment challenges, so they still get their energy out. Depending on your specific dog's tolerances and needs...
About: I’ve always had a deep love for animals and would care for your furry family members as if they were my own. I grew up with both large and small dogs, from Shih Tzus to Rottweilers, and now have Huskies of my own. I’ve also grown up with cats and currently have a Maine Coon. My love for animals extends beyond dogs and cats—I also have a saltwater aquarium that brings me so much joy, and I’ve had a passion for wildlife and all kinds of animals from a young age. I truly enjoy spending time with animals and getting to know their unique personalities. I’d love the opportunity to help care for your pets and give them the same love, attention, and care I give my own. I’m happy to help in any way I can! I work nights, so I have plenty of availability every morning and afternoon. I’d love to use that free time to care for and spend time with animals who need a little extra love and attention while their families are away. If you have a fenced-in yard, I’d love to let your pups run around, play fetch, and get all those zoomies out! We can also go for walks, enjoy some sunshine, or simply spend some quality time playing and relaxing together. My goal is to make sure they get plenty of exercise, attention, and fun while they’re in my care!
“Kate is just so wonderful with our Luke and she’s become a trusted partner helping us care for him when we have long days. Luke loves seeing her and she makes sure Luke gets pampered while with her. We appreciate Kate so much and will look forward to continue working with her.”

About: I’ve had a deep love for animals for as long as I can remember, and I truly believe they can sense that. Many pets warm up to me quickly, and I think it’s because I approach them with patience, calm energy, and respect for their space. I make an effort to create familiarity—especially in their own homes—so they feel safe and comfortable. Building trust with each pet is something I take seriously and genuinely enjoy. I currently work part-time in a hybrid role while completing my master’s in public health. I’m typically in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with hours varying depending on meetings. Outside of that, I’m home and able to provide structured care, regular outdoor time, and engagement. I’m intentional about scheduling to make sure pets receive dependable, consistent care. I provide care based on each pet’s usual routine and needs. I aim to maintain a consistent routine with regular outdoor time, play, feeding schedules, and structured downtime to help pets feel comfortable and settled. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their established household routines as closely as possible.
About: I have had two dogs in my life, both with completely different personalities. I also don’t scare easily, and am good at reading an animal’s body language. PLEASE READ: I currently working a full time job Monday-Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm, and I am looking for a part time side hustle. Unless I am out of town, I can take care of your beloved fur babies. Can’t wait to meet them😁❤️ They are always fed by a specific time, and I always make sure they have some sort of play/walk time along with mental stimulation if possible.
About: Hello there ! My name is Grace and I am 25 years old living in Rochester NY and love all animals! I worked for Lollipop farm for about a year as an adoption counselor but decided to part ways with the career as I’ve found other hobbies. But since then I’ve always found my way back with fostering and animal sitting for friends and family. I’d love to extend the love to your furry friend too! I can’t wait to meet your animals and give them all the love! So I work full time right now but the hours aren’t the same each week but I’m always free before 9AM and the latest 9PM. So it all depends on the animals needs. I try to have them get use to my scent first, give them attention, and make sure to ask the owner as many questions as needed to make the situation easier for the animal. Since I would be someone new.
“Barbara has been a blessing to me and my golden retriever. My mom passed away about a month ago and she watched over the dog while I was at work so I was in a situation where if I couldn’t create a life for my dog during the hours I’m away from home I would have to think of giving her up and that would have been devastating. Barbara agreed to come out twice a day to take care of Cassidy and she has been the most dependable, caring, and compassionate person to my beloved dog. She was so patient with Cassidy, she was going through a big adjustment with the loss of my mom. Barbara truly spent a lot of time establishing a bond with her and slowly they have developed a nice routine of playing in the backyard. They relax in the sun, play ball and with all her toys. I am very thankful to Barbara for the dependability, her caring nature and the smile on my dog each day I come home let’s me know I chose the right service and the perfect person to care after my dog. Thank you Barbara!”

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
