“She was amazing and so good to my dog even when I left my dogs stuff at the hotel 🤦♀️ She was so kind and understanding and would text updates throughout the day! She took him on multiple walks and actually got him to eat his dinner! 10/10 would recommend. Also if you are new to New York, she’s got the details and good recommendations of places to go!”

About: I have been an animal lover my entire life and have experience providing dog walking, pet sitting, and boarding for both dogs and cats. I specialize in senior pet care, anxious animals, special-needs pets, and animals with past trauma who require patient, gentle handling. I offer professional dog walking services that combine exercise, exploration, and care. My understanding of canine behavior ensures each dog enjoys a walk that’s both stimulating and comforting. Walking dogs is a passion of mine, and I take pride in keeping them active, happy, and well-behaved during every outing. My experience allows me to adapt to different breeds, energy levels, and temperaments. My services include dog walking, house sitting, in-home pet sitting, boarding in my home, and extended stays. I am comfortable administering oral and topical medications as directed, monitoring eating and drinking habits, assisting with vet visits, and providing calm, comfort-focused care for pets experiencing pain, anxiety, or age-related challenges. I build trusting relationships with pets by following established routines, paying close attention to behavior and body language, and adapting care to each animal’s needs. I value clear, consistent communication with pet parents and always provide thoughtful updates to ensure peace of mind while they’re away. Working with Rover allows me to continue doing what I love most, caring for animals and supporting pet parents. I currently work part time and from home, which allows me ample time and flexibility to give pets focused, attentive care. I live directly across the street from a large park (1 minute walk) and I am a 10 minute walk from a park with hiking trails for extended walks and exercise. This makes it easy to provide calm, consistent walks and outdoor time when appropriate. I am available for walks and visits in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. I am also available for pet sitting, boarding and extended stays when needed. Holiday and last-minute bookings are accepted based on availability. I recommend reaching out as early as possible for holidays to ensure availability, but I’m happy to accommodate short-notice requests whenever possible. I live in a clean and quiet apartment with easy access to a nearby park and dog park. I do not have other pets or children, which allows me to provide a calm, predictable environment without added distractions or unpredictability. My home is designed to be a peaceful “home away from home,” especially well-suited for senior, anxious, or special-needs pets. When caring for pets in my home, I follow each pet’s established routines, including feeding schedules, walks and any needed medication. I prioritize safety, comfort, and close supervision. In my home, I ensure pets have ample time for rest, play, and attention based on their individual needs. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect their space and follow all care instructions closely. I focus on maintaining familiar routines, keeping the environment clean and secure, and offering clear updates to pet parents.

About: I have grown up surrounded by animals—cats, dogs, fish, birds, and even a turtle named Harry who’s still swimming with us today (he was born before I was!). I have hands-on experience with pets at all life stages and understand the unique care each phase requires. From playful kittens and puppies to senior pets needing extra comfort, my empathy runs deep. I’m also comfortable administering medications and using pet inhalers. I live just a 10-minute walk from Bennett Park and 15 minutes from Fort Tryon Park—perfect spots for pups to enjoy nature, fresh air, and the sounds of birds in a calming, sensory-rich environment. My apartment is a peaceful, pet-safe space where your companion will feel safe and cared for. I currently share my home with Chapito, my affectionate and playful cat. He’s 1.5 years old and full of energy, but he’s also sensitive to the mood in the room—knowing when it’s time to play and when it’s time to wind down. I also live with my grandmother and aunt, both lifelong animal lovers. While I’ll be the one directly responsible for your pet’s care, their warm presence creates a calm and cozy, family-like environment that many pets really enjoy. Your companion will never feel alone in our home. If you are looking for someone reliable, empathetic and nurturing who will communicate with you thoroughly about your babies' well being-I am your pick! I currently have an open schedule so I would be very flexible on days and times that anyone needs. I am an early bird so I do try to get to everyone early, but I have no issue with individual requests. In my clients home, I make sure any exists are locked when I enter and leave, aware of the floor as I am near any exist as pets do like to run sometimes. I always check for stoves to be off, any electronics to be okay and not overheating. During summer I make sure pets stay cool however the family sees fit. This could also just mean cracking a window which usually should have a mesh screen, but windows do stay cracked open enough for their faces to feel fresh air. I clean the space at least once every few days depending on number of pets. Making sure there are no hazards or dangerous accidents that could potentially occur. In public, your pet will never be left alone nor unattended by my own eyes. If a situation seems unsafe for them, there is no hesitation by me to remove us from the equation. I do encourage a 'no-pressure' introduction meeting prior to official booking, it can gage how both the pet and you feel with having me service you!
“Shar is such a wonderful dog sitter. She is so attentive and communicative. Our dog enjoys his time with her very much, which me and the world! I am very grateful to know her!”

“Second time booking with Essence and my dog was happily wagging her tail when I dropped her off. That gave me more reassurance! Essence sent me amazing photos several times throughout the day and kept me updated on her walks. As usual, she was also punctual and responded quickly to my messages. Thank you Essence!”

About: Hello! Besides having four cats and two large dogs growing up, and being the primary pet sitter for several friends and colleagues over the past ten years, I have been the primary caregiver/parent to two dogs. One, Greta, I raised from puppyhood; the other, Honey, I adopted at 12 and cared for in the final years of her life. Both of these dogs experienced medical complications: Greta was adopted with heartworm, which was cured after a strict regimen, and Honey experienced kidney failure in her old age, for which I gave her daily IVs for nearly a year. Both dogs came to me with behavioral problems, including dog aggression and separation anxiety. I was able to care for both dogs and keep them safe, and am experienced with pets with medical needs. I am experienced as a pet owner and caregiver, and will follow your instructions carefully and check in often. I work from home and would love to do so with your beloved pet by my side, where I can give them lots of pets, walks, and cuddles. I hope I get to meet your pet soon! I work from home 4/5 days a week, though I can usually work from home an entire week if needed. I will check in with your pet’s schedule, and let you know if I am able to meet their needs. As a general rule, I never leave a pet alone for more than 6 hours, but I am flexible according to your pet’s specific needs. I always leave a home I am visiting clean, and am happy to do what I can to make sure you are comfortable with me in your home. I am a lifelong New Yorker and can navigate trains and buses to your home easily. I may have access to a car shortly, if you live somewhere inaccessible by train. In my home, I keep food unreachable to pets wherever possible and have pet beds available for their use. I do not have any pets in my home at the moment. I live right next to one of the largest parks in New York City, and am happy to take your pet for walks, or even to the dog park nearby if they are comfortable with other dogs.

Inwood dog parents share their Rover experiences
Jill is incredible. Not only did she love my sweet little dog, she also showed me great kindness daily. I found Jill while I was trying to secure housing in NY, and everyday she’d check in on me and how I was feeling, while also becoming my dog’s new favorite person. By the end of the time with Jill, my dog was crying because of how happy she was to see her. If you are looking for a kind, caring, responsible, and overall amazing person to care for your pet- Jill is your answer!

For me to have found someone under such short notice, who not only accepted with less than 12 hours notice, but to also have truly been a pet person was a blessing. Nellysa and her husband were super kind. They treated Charlie with such great care. Truly feel thankful to have found them!! Thank you so much Nellysa! You guys are amazing and I’m truly so so thankful!

Tiffany was absolutely amazing with my puppy, Cosmo! As a new dog owner, I was nervous about going back to work, but she completely eased my anxiety. She took such great care of Cosmo and made me feel confident he was in good hands. I highly recommend her and will definitely be booking with her again moving forward. Thank you again Tiffany!

I am so happy to have come across Tyler on Rover. My dog, Dinklage aka Dink aka Dinky aka…I’ll stop for now, is my life. I love him unconditionally, and while Dink is a ham for human attention, I’m not so easily sold. I struggle with trusting another human with my pup, but Tyler quickly eased my trepidation. He made sure to send multiple updates to me throughout the day with pictures that assured me Dink was both safe and comfortable. I am truly grateful for the care provided. :)

Isabelle was amazing! my dog Maia doesn’t like it when I leave her with someone she doesn’t know but she was so calm and happy after day care with Isabelle. Also she sent me updates almost every hour which I appreciate and is very reliable and quick responder. Highly recommend!

THANK YOU SARAH..for taking the time to be sure Rufus would be comfortable in your home, for getting down on the floor and meeting him on his level, for taking him on multiple walks and ball throwing adventures, and for sending me updates throughout the day!! We are both so happy to have found you and look forward to many more visits for Ru!

Luis was absolutely amazing with my dog, Chickpea! From the moment we met, I could tell he genuinely loves and understands dogs. He took the time to get to know Chickpea’s routine, personality, and quirks, and kept me updated with photos and messages the whole time. Chickpea came home happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. I can’t recommend Luis enough—he’s responsible, kind, and truly goes above and beyond. Chickpea can’t wait to see him again!

Narjes was the best! She was so kind and you could tell that she was an animal lover. Even though Smokey had an accident she still treated him with all the love he needed and she also kept me constantly updated. When the time comes again for a sitter, there is no other place I’d have in mind!!
