“Our dog had an amazing time! Great hikes in the area and lots of attention and care. I also enjoyed the human conversation at pickup and drop offs! We hope to be repeat customers next time we’re here.”

“Jessica is great! She was Storm’s first dog sitter, and she truly went above and beyond. Excellent communication and positive attitude. I was impressed by her creativity and commitment to keep a very curious and energetic Husky safe, occupied, and feeling loved. Storm and I both have a new friend in Jessica☺️”

“I booked a daycare for Toffee when I went for dinner! She had a blast playing in the yard with the sitter’s other dog. She came home happy and tired, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The sitter was friendly and communicative, and I felt comfortable leaving my dog in their care. Would definitely book again!”

About: I have lived in Tahoe for 25 years and always had my own dog and watched over my friend's dogs throughout the years. My best friend (Maggie - Retriever) passed away 18 months ago and I watch many of my friend's dogs frequently, including an elderly short hair retriever that is battling pancreatic cancer. I work from home and board my friend's dogs as well as check in and walk dogs when owners need help. I do have a number of recent references. I have worked from home for 25 years. I am very active and walk frequently. I am an early morning riser and monitor how often dogs need a walk or outside break. Pets are a part of my daily routine. My home: I have beds set up and recognize different doggy routines, ie need to go on the porch for sun, or need to go out for a break and walk. I have a section on my porch and in the laundry area for their food and water and a special area where I organize all the food, medication, leaches, doggy bags. I have a place by my couches with a large basket with balls, toys and stuffed doggy animals. I watch a number of my friend's dogs, and each has a unique and special routine and they have all come to trust me a look forward to visiting. I stay a bit at some of my friend's houses if they want me to help with house watch, plants, delivery receipt and other home needs while they are traveling and away on extended trips.
“Oatie had a great day with Stephanie and her dogs while we skied!! She sent plenty of updates and photos throughout the day. We’ll be using her all the time while were in Tahoe! Thanks!”

About: Been around dogs my whole life. Fast forward to when I went off to college, since 2014 I’ve been dog sitting whether it’s daily walks or overnight stays with all types of dogs. Through my own dog’s experience , I’ve cultivated a caring, dependable, attentive way with animals that my friends have put full trust in and know their pets are taken care of worry free when they’re with me. So I’ve decided to expand my experience to rover. Feel free to reach out with a questions you may have and I look forward to providing a safe and fun experience for your pup(s). I have a fully fenced yard , security cameras set up and auto locking doors to keep you fur baby happy and safe while they are cared for by me. I’m home crates available too.
“Fiji had fun playing with the other dogs being cared for by Gina. I would recommend Gina as she provides great care and attention. Took our dog to the dog park to play. Our doggo was tired after the day so you know he had fun playing with other dogs.”

“Melissa was wonderful with my puppy Lucas. She sent updates and pictures of him throughout the day and provided excellent care. I will definitely be booking with Melissa in the future, she's terrific!!”

About: I've grown up with pets ever since I was 5 years old, so I have about 17 years of personal experience with dogs, cats, birds, lizards, guinea pigs, rabbits, etc. Despite the experience being personal, I am professional, calm, and work extremely well with animals. It is important to me to be their voice when they aren't listened to, and to provide help in any way I can, as I know that life can be very busy, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't make time to take care of those that take care of us. Animals always love unconditionally and provide unwavering support in all ways, so I'm here to give that to them, and to take some of the stress off your shoulders when you have to give your time elsewhere. Services: Daily Walks Food, water, and treats as directed by pet parent Playtime :) fetch, frisbee, catch/chase- anything they like to do! House Sitting and Drop-in visits Give medication or maintenance care if needed. Light Grooming like coat brushing and baths. Take to Vet appointments, Dog Park, or other errands related to your pets. (Depending on distance, gas, time and price negotiation for those factors) Energy Healing ☆ please ask me for more information if interested :) I work from home and set my own schedule, so I'm available to care for the animals and spend time with them throughout the day. We go on daily walks, and hikes on the trails several times during the week. There's space in the backyard to play, run around, and go potty when needed. I will actively keep you updated during the entire stay, and send lots of pictures. I will stick to the routine you have for your pet, and make sure they feel as comfortable as possible. I treat every animal with respect and as if they are my own- with lots of patience, understanding, love, kindness, and empathy. I do my best to understand their temperament so I can cater to their specific needs in order for us to gradually build trust at their own pace.
“Tim was amazing! I could tell my big boy was happy and confident around him! Tim took him on a hike and kept him busy and send me a lot of beautiful pictures! I loved his service! Thank you Tim!”

About: I've owned Australian Cattle Dogs (red/blue heelers) my entire life. My beloved most recent 12 year old Red Heeler named Austin passed away last summer. I now travel too much for work to consider getting another pet myself, but would love to borrow some to get my four legged furry fix. I am self employed professional photographer with a flexible weekly schedule and I work from home, except when I am out photographing clients. I would love to be a trusted fill-in for your standards of interaction with your pal if our schedules align. Please note that I am NOT a good fit for pandemic animals that cannot be left unattended or have separation anxiety. If your dog cannot be left alone for a few hours at a time you'll need to look elsewhere. I have a fenced yard and a dog door for access. I would prefer to care for dogs in my home but open to house sitting also.

About: I have hands-on experience caring for dogs of all sizes and temperaments, providing reliable walks, feeding, playtime, and lots of attention to keep them happy, safe, and well-exercised. I’m a stay-at-home Mom. Kids are homeschooled so we are always around. Can take your dog outside and for walks throughout the day. I have a fenced yard and a silly boxer boy dog to keep your dog company. I can crate your dog at night if you prefer.
“My pup had so much fun with Lidia. When I picked her up she was calm, happy and content. She had the time of her life playing at the lake and sunning herself on the deck. I'd be thrilled to have her watching my dog again in the future!”

“Very sweet, really cared about our dogs! It was our first time leaving our babies with anyone and we couldn’t have found better people to watch them. Will definitely be back”

“Emily provides a safe and comfortable environment for our pup plus a nice backyard to play in. We can always tell how well our pup is cared for when we make a return visit and he runs to the front door wagging his tail. Great communication and sharing of updates, definitely will use her again when we visit South Tahoe.”

“Wow! What a great experience we had with Adam and Lauren. It was way above and beyond our expectations. We couldn’t say enough about their generosity and service. When we told Adam that we are having our anniversary, he made himself more available and making our trip more memorable. We highly recommend their service. We really like the way how Adam meets up first with our dog, and his knowledge about dog behavior and needs. The walks he takes our dog on were breathtaking views. You can see that they really love animals. So now, we have found our dog sitter for our dog, Rocky. So if you’re heading to South Lake Tahoe, and you need a dog sitter, we highly recommend Adam and Lauren.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 175 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Homewood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Homewood commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 175 sitters in Homewood, 91% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
