“Kristine took such good care of our 7 month old lab puppy. We could tell he loved having her around while we were away. Kristine was great at communicating updates, making our vacation stress free. We would definitely recommend her to friends and family.”

“Rissa was amazing with Zoey!! This was our first experience with leaving our 7 month old puppy and Rissa helped us feel comfortable leaving our precious baby girl. She loved on Zoey and kept us updated with pics while we were out!!! ☺️”

“Dean did an amazing job with our girl over the 4th of July weekend. We reached out to him shortly before our trip and he was able to not only accommodate our requests, but surpass what we expected. He comforted our girls during fireworks, loved on them for many hours each day, and made sure they were safe and happy! Would highly recommend Dean & his services.”

“Could not have asked for anything more. So attentive and communicative. Above and beyond in every possible way. Thanks for all the pictures and updates. Thanks for the daily walks. Thanks for the love you gave to Toby and Freya. Left my house clean and tidy. Highly recommend!!!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter! She took excellent care of our dogs and cat, kept us updated while we were away, and gave us complete peace of mind. It was clear our pets were happy, comfortable, and well cared for when we returned home. She went above and beyond, and we would absolutely trust her with our home and pets again. Highly recommend!”

“Anthony did a fantastic job taking care of our fur babies and our home. We found him to be very trustworthy, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. He showed a lot of patience and compassion with our high-energy puppy, which is no small task. He kept us updated daily with messages about their activities and how they were doing, which we really appreciated. We also came home to a clean, well-kept house. It was clear he treated our home and pets with care and respect. We would absolutely trust Anthony to watch our pets and home again and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive sitter.”

“Brooke is really great with dogs! Boone seems to really like her. She sent us pictures of him throughout the day and was very responsive when we had a question. She’s flexible with your schedule and needs and does a lot to accommodate your pups needs. She slept with our pup each night.”

About: I had 3 family dogs growing up who were my best friends, there wasn’t a day that went by that we didn’t spend time together. When they became seniors, I gave them my full care and attention up until they passed. Caregiving still feels like it’s a part of me, and I just love the happiness and joy that dogs or any pets bring into this world! Having gone from full time care to having so much more time is a big shift for me, so I would greatly enjoy to continue to share the love and care I still have with your pets as well! I work part time and find myself having a lot of free time and I would love to be there with your pet! I will make sure to schedule feeding times or drop ins around my work hours, and on my off days I’m more than willing to spend lots of time with your pet! When caring for your pet I will make sure they feel comfortable and safe by following their usual routines, giving lots of love, and making sure their environment is clean and secure. I want to make your fur baby feel happy and well-cared for while you are away!
“Vanessa did an OUTSTANDING job watching our pups. She was very attentive, played and exercised them regularly, and really put in extra effort to ensure we felt comfortable leaving them in her care. She took some amazing pictures of them playing out back and sent them to us regularly to give us peace of mind. We came home from our vacation to two very happy dogs. We highly recommend Vanessa and will be requesting her services again!”

“As a veterinarian and pet parent if you ever wondered who does the vet get to watch his home and pets, the answer is Evie. We needed someone special who could understand involved instructions for our herding dog, and deal with the daily care of a 35 year old Leopard Tortoise. Evie is someone I feel comfortable leaving in charge of both. She has housesat for us a couple times, and is already scheduled for several more. The pets love her and we appreciate her.”

“Keara was responsive when I reached out. I do wish we had gotten more updates on our critters, but they were fed, watered, and let out on a regular schedule during her stay.”

“Mike was fantastic with my two dogs! First and foremost, he wanted to ensure both of the dogs were comfortable with him before even agreeing to watch them, and then he also took the time to come back over the day before staying at our house to be sure the dogs remembered him. I got just enough photos to assure me the dogs were behaving and content while on a work trip.”

“Matt took great care of my two large dogs! He came to meet them prior to taking the booking so that we were both comfortable. He stayed at our house for a week and we had zero issues! He gave daily updates with pics of our dogs, which was very reassuring, and asked questions to be sure of our preferences. Upon return, our house was just as we left it and the dogs were safe and happy. I have recommended Matt’s services to a friend and will absolutely book him in the future!”

“Emily was super easy to work with. Accommodated a changing schedule. She picked up on all the pups quirks. We were happy to feel like she was reliable and we had nothing to worry about.”

“Jennifer is the best! Our animals love her, and she leaves the house nicer than when she arrived. I (the nervous pet mama) especially appreciate the pics and updates she sends. We’ll definitely use her again!”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs and reptiles for the past three years and genuinely love spending time with animals. I have hands-on experience walking dogs, feeding them, providing companionship, and caring for them while their owners were away. I’m comfortable following routines, giving lots of attention and affection, and making sure every pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for. I’m reliable, patient, and understand that every pet has their own personality and needs. I would treat your pets with the same love and care that I would my own. I’m currently enrolled in a hybrid college program, with in-person classes only two days a week and the rest of my coursework completed online at my own pace. This gives me a flexible schedule for pet care throughout the week. I’m reliable, organized, and happy to work with pet owners to find times that fit their needs. Whether it’s walks, drop-in visits, or overnight care, I’ll make sure your pets receive the attention, exercise, and love they deserve. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine are my top priorities. I understand that every pet has unique needs, and I’m happy to follow feeding schedules, walking routines, medication instructions, and any other care requests. I’ll always treat your home with respect and keep you updated with messages and photos, so you can relax knowing your pet is happy and well cared for. My goal is to provide a calm, loving, and stress-free experience for both you and your pet.
“Kaitlyn did a wonderful job house sitting and looking after our 3 animals while we were away for a week!! She provided daily updates and the best photos of all the pets. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was young till now with my two dogs, and two cats. I love to hike and walk with my dogs. They also love playing ball or chasing toys around in home. Cats are older now so they just want love and pets. I work full-time but that doesn’t stop me from having time to make sure our animals get play and care when I get home. I’m available weekends or after 5 pm for any care for your animal :) I have two dogs that are dog friendly and a crate if needed. I have a park right across the street to have long walks or play in grass or they even have a dog park.

Absolutely wonderful! Erica did such a fantastic job with our cats. We were gone for a family reunion and were away for 12 days. She sent us photos and videos every day which gave us peace of mind knowing she was with our girls. She also took great care of the house as well. Very highly recommended!

Matthew did a fantastic job with Louie. He put in so much effort to build trust with our dog, followed every instruction with great attention to detail, and kept us updated throughout our trip. Bryce was amazing! He was so nice and respectful when he came by to meet us and the dogs before we left, and he paid attention to every little detail we shared. He stayed overnight and sent updates and pictures from every walk, which was great. You can tell he truly cared for our pups and took great care of our home, everything was spotless when we got back. Highly recommend!!

Colleen housesat for us and was very communicative. She made our animals feel very loved and comfortable with her. She really paid attention to their needs and was respectful of our house guidelines… when we have a future need for a sitter or someone to do a drop in we will definitely be contacting Colleen again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Holland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Holland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Holland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Holland. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
