Rissa was great with our pup Charlie. He is normally shy but warmed up quickly to her! She has excellent communication skills and so the updates were spot on. It really made us comfortable while we were away knowing Charlie was being well cared for by Rissa with snuggles, nice walks, and playtime. 😊 We would definitely have her again and recommend her care.

Christine was truly the best sitter we could have asked for, and Honey and Maple absolutely adored her. She watched my girls for two weeks while we were overseas, and I honestly could not have felt better about leaving them with her. She treated them like they were her own and was so attentive to all of their little quirks. Somehow, without me even telling her, she figured out things like how they like to be tucked in when they go to sleep. 😂 She really got to know them and their personalities while we were gone. Honey and Maple are also very much sighthounds, so they come with some specific challenges. They can be picky about eating, and when they get playing too hard, they have a tendency to accidentally tear their skin. Christine handled both so well. She played with them constantly to keep them active and interested in eating, and she was so attentive to their play that she could redirect them before they got too rough. I came home to two happy dogs with no issues at all. She was also an amazing communicator and took great care of our house. More than anything, it was obvious how much she genuinely loved the dogs. I felt like she cared for them just as well as I would have, which is honestly the highest compliment I could give a sitter. I would trust Christine with Honey and Maple again without hesitation, and we will absolutely be hiring her again. If you are looking for someone who will really get to know your dogs and care for them like her own, I cannot recommend her enough. ❤️

About: I have always made fast friends with other animals easily and joyfully. Pets really are the greatest gift and I only ever hope to live up to that by providing patience, fun, kindness, and thoughtful care-taking! I have had pets my entire life and have been pet sitting for over 20 years. I take pride in providing the best care possible, being fully present to an animal and their needs, and providing the peace of mind to you that I would want when away from my pets. With pets of my own, I know what it is like to find someone who you truly trust and feel comfortable with - I hope to be that person. I have a flexible hybrid telework schedule that allows me to be available for care-taking around your pets' schedule needs. I will have the utmost respect for your pet and instructions. As for house-sitting, my husband takes care of all our animals so that I can be fully present to stay with yours! I am open and honest and will be available for any more information you would like to know! Thanks for considering me to take care of your precious friends. My work schedule is flexible and I work from home most days. On the days I go into the office, I am not gone for extended hours. I have plenty of time and availability for morning, mid-day, and evening pet care during the week. On weekends, morning play time is always extended, as is snuggle time, and longer walks if the weather allows - but we always spend a ton of time in the backyard, unless our guest prefers naptime on the couch. I take pet care seriously, especially with other people's pets. I treat the animals with the same respect I treat my own, and how I would want someone else to take care of mine. I want the pets I care for to feel safe and happy, and barely miss their owners. That means I am very intentional about their physical as well their emotional needs. And, honestly, I get so much joy meeting new pets and hanging out with them that I want the pets to feel the same way about me. I will follow their normal schedule for feeding, walking, and anything else you ask as part of their routine. I am also very communicative while taking care of your pet(s)! I will check in with you everyday to provide at least a picture and any updates. I take a ton of photos, and love to share those! I am also always available for you to reach out anytime and respond quickly. When it comes to your home, you will not even know I was there, except your pets are happy and well-tended to :). For boarding requests, we have two very friendly small dogs and two dog-friendly cats, they all really do get along and we like to keep a calm and harmonious house! Our dogs will play if the our guest wants to, and our cats are very gracious hosts :). We only board one dog at a time. Please do not reach out if your dog is not (small) dog and cat friendly, thank you! (Our previous dog, RIP, is still listed here, she passed recently and I cannot bring myself to delete her profile yet...)

Aja was absolutely amazing and by far and away the best dog sitter we have ever had. Her professionalism, attentiveness, and attention to instructions is something we should all strive for in our respective fields. My wife and I had absolutely zero concerns about the well-being of our doggos with Aja, which made for that much more enjoyable of a trip for us knowing they were in the absolute best hands. 10/10 WILL book again.

I cannot say enough about Anthony. We went away for a week and both of our dogs have severe separation anxiety. Anthony not only loved and cared for them, my Shih tzu hasn’t displayed his former bad habits (taking toilet paper off of the roll and running, chewing shoes). Anthony is THE BEST and I will use him again. Anthony thank you so much, words cannot describe how appreciative we are.

About: Hey yall! What sets me apart from other pet sitters is how much I genuinely care about each pet I look after. I treat every animal like they’re my own and take the time to learn their personality, routine, and individual needs. I want both pets and their owners to feel comfortable, cared for, and at ease while they’re apart. 🐾 I’m currently in cosmetology school, but from friday to sunday, I am all yours! When you want to go on a weekend trip, i’m your girl! When i’m in your home, I stick to the animals schedule! I want them to feel like i’m a friend not someone trying to disrupt their routine! I can always meet you (the owners) and the animal before hand as well!

Thanks to Meaghan, I was completely comfortable leaving my cat and my house in her care while away. She's a very calming presence and quickly made friends with my cat, as well as giving her medicine and watering my plants. She had a family emergency that meant leaving for the weekend but let me know promptly so I could make other arrangements while she was away. I will definitely hire her again.

Ashlyn did an amazing job caring for our two large dogs while staying at our home for a couple of nights. They can be a handful and definitely aren’t the easiest dogs to manage, but she handled everything with confidence and professionalism. She kept us updated throughout our trip with messages and photos, which gave us great peace of mind knowing they were in good hands. It’s clear that Ashlyn is experienced and truly understands dogs. We came home to happy, well cared for pups and a house that was just as we left it. We would absolutely trust her with our dogs again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, knowledgeable pet sitter.

About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was young till now with my two dogs, and two cats. I love to hike and walk with my dogs. They also love playing ball or chasing toys around in home. Cats are older now so they just want love and pets. I work full-time but that doesn’t stop me from having time to make sure our animals get play and care when I get home. I’m available weekends or after 5 pm for any care for your animal :) I have two dogs that are dog friendly and a crate if needed. I have a park right across the street to have long walks or play in grass or they even have a dog park.

We loved Chelsea!!! She stayed at our home for four days and three nights. Our dogs are fairly picky in showing affection towards others, but not Chelsea. They loved her from the start. She was gracious enough to meet us prior to agreeing to watch our dogs so we would feel comfortable using Rover for the first time. We received about 10-15 pictures a day of her feeding and playing with our dogs. They seemed so much happier than having someone stop by. We are so grateful for her and will book with her again and again.

When we were away one of our dog’s took a turn and had to be put down while we were away, unexpectedly. He was so sick we couldn’t get back to be there in person. Hanna stayed with our pets for three days over Labor Day weekend, and she was wonderful. From the start, her communication was clear and timely—she sent updates and photos every day, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. She followed all instructions carefully and kept the house tidy. Our pets warmed up to her quickly and were relaxed and happy when we got home. Holiday weekends can be tricky, but Hanna was reliable, punctual, and flexible. We’re grateful for her care and would happily have her sit for us again. Highly recommend!

FAQs for House Sitting - Kennebec

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Kennebec on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 2,751 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kennebec. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kennebec walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kennebec maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kennebec choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kennebec. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
