“Miya was so good to our boys! I so appreciated the check-ins complete with videos and funny pictures. We knew they were being well taken care of while on our vacation ❤️ Would absolutely book with her again!”

“Kristyn is great at keeping in touch with us about anything she thinks we need to know about our boys to make sure they get the best care while we're gone. I know their safe and happy with her.”

“Christine took care of our kitten and cat while we were out of town for a week. She was so caring toward them and sent us updates each visit with lots of pictures which we loved. So happy we were able to connect because now my cats have a new bestie!”

“Holly always takes amazing care of my three cats - daily updates, great communication, and always goes the extra mile. Highly, highly recommend any time you go out of town.”

“Sydney did a great job with my shy cat on this repeat booking and is always looking for ways to make her more comfortable while I’m away. This time she put out a water bowl in addition to the fountain Lulu usually drinks from, just in case the power were to go out and the fountain turned off. Best pet sitter!”

“Vanessa has been wonderful with our puppy! She has been taking care of her on a weekly basis for drop-in visits, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. She follows our care instructions closely, is very communicative, and always gives us peace of mind knowing our puppy is in great hands. As a fellow puppy owner, Vanessa understands all the little things that come with caring for a young puppy, which we really appreciated. We would absolutely continue using her if we weren’t moving out of the area. We highly recommend Vanessa! 🐾”

“Came home to happy and healthy cat! She stopped by everyday to care for my cat Ozzy and took pictures every time! Very attentive and gave me updates on him through my whole trip!”

“Lauren was wonderful. She did everything we asked and took good care of our cat while we were away. She even brought a package inside that was left on our porch so it wouldn't look like we were away. Would definitely engage her again.”

About: Hi! My name is Phinette! Growing up, I have always been a huge animal lover. As a child, I had three small dogs who I am so grateful I got to grow up with until they were in their late teens. My family rescued our current pit bull mix, Oakley, 6 years ago, who is now reaching his elderly years, as well as six cats! I truly love seeing the different personalities in each animal and finding out what makes them unique. I am great with high energy dogs including puppies, love being active, so I would love to help get their energy out with walks/runs! I am currently a Physical Therapist Assistant student and attend school Monday–Thursday, typically from 8:30 AM–4:00 PM. My availability will change throughout October and November, so I’ve outlined my schedule below to make it easier to see when and where I’m available! **House Sitting** **Through October 7:** I’m happy to travel farther for house sitting, especially toward the Chapel Hill/Pittsboro area since I commute there for school. **October 8–26:** I’ll have open availability and can travel to a wider area for house sitting. **October 27–November 20:** I’ll be completing clinicals in the Lillington area from approximately 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, so I’ll primarily be looking for house sitting opportunities closer to Angier/Lillington. However, I’m happy to travel farther for longer stays! **After November 20:** I’ll have open availability throughout December and the holidays. **Dog Walks & Drop-In Visits** **Through October 7:** Available Friday–Sunday all day, as well as evenings Monday–Thursday. **October 8–26:** Open availability every day! **October 27–November 20:** Available Monday–Friday in the evenings and Saturday–Sunday all day. I’ll be completing clinicals in the Lillington area during the weekdays, so weekday requests closer to Angier/Lillington are preferred. **After November 20:** Open availability throughout December and the holidays! I know how scary it can be to have someone you don’t know stay in your home and care for your pet. That’s why it’s really important to me to build a relationship and trust with my clients, so it doesn’t feel like a stranger is in your home. I’ll make sure your pet and your home are in the best care possible while you’re away, and I have a feeling your pet and I will become best friends by the time you get back! I absolutely love sending pictures and updates, so you’ll never have to wonder how your pet is doing while you’re gone! If you’re someone who doesn’t need as many updates, that’s completely fine too. I’m happy to send them as often or as little as you’d like. I also make sure to check my phone regularly while house sitting, so you’ll always be able to reach me if you need anything. I’m someone who actually loves detailed instructions because they help me make sure I’m doing everything exactly how your pet is used to. I want to keep their normal routine as much as possible while you’re away. I’m also a bit of a neat freak, so you may come home to your house looking a little cleaner than when you left it!
“Valari did an excellent job with my pups while we were away. She was punctual, communicative, sent pics and was professional. I will definitely be using her again!”

“Tibbs LOVED his time with Jordan. I hired her for the first time through Rover and couldn't be happier. She was communicative and responsive. She handled everything id asked, sent plenty of pictures and videos, and most importantly made my baby feel loved and cared for while I was away. She is our new cat sitter after this trip! It was so nice to have the reassurance of her drop in visits while I was away for a week. And to see how much my cat loved her!! Highly recommend her as a trustworthy petsitter for your fur babies :)”

“Amber was great! She is very responsive to messages and easy to get in touch with. We have a picky cat, and she took extra care to make sure she ate and made sure to keep us updated. We would definitely recommend and re-book with her.”

About: I have had 2 dogs of my own and have helped care for friends and family over the years. Dogs are family and only deserve the best care. I hope to provide the same level of care for your dog as well! I’m currently a student who completes school online so I’m available to play and care for your pups at most hour of the day! I need to be on zoom for 4 hours of the day and with a lunch break in between so I can offer care easily after those times. I have a large yard where dogs can safely enjoy some outdoor time, and I have a medium-sized dog who absolutely loves making new four-legged friends. I’m also happy to take dogs on nice, long walks so they can get plenty of exercise, fresh air, and mental stimulation. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine, and comfort level, so I’ll take the time to learn what makes your pup feel happy and secure. Your dog’s safety and well-being will always be my top priority. I’ll treat your dog with the same care and patience I’d want someone to give my own. Whether your dog needs a relaxing stroll, a good energy burning walk, or simply some friendly companionship, I’d love the opportunity to help keep them happy, healthy, and cared for!

About: My father owned a pet care business in New Jersey but now that I've moved to North Carolina I'm ready to continue doing what I love by myself. I plan on making this my full time job, I currently work remote so I am free any time of the day any day of the week 😁. My care is fully respectful of my clients wishes, pets will never be over or under fed, they will have plenty of exercise and play time and the house will always be clean when I'm done.
“Helen did amazing with our pups! She was early, on top of everything, and sent just the right amount of pictures. We were a little worried because one of our dogs loves to jump and doesn’t realize how big he is 😂, but Helen handled him immediately and had no problem managing both of them. We felt like our pups were in great hands!”

Sydnee was amazing! She was so great with our girl. I loved getting updates throughout our trip and she was so attentive and communicative. I had no worries because I knew our girl was in great hands with Sydnee! Highly highly recommend her for anyone needing a pet sitter!!

Holly is fantastic! She took such great care of my dog, Atlas, while doing a drop-in visit with him. She gave me really thorough feedback as to how he was doing and how their walk went. She is so kind and Atlas absolutely loves her! We can't wait to have her check in on him again soon! :)

We had a wonderful experience! They stopped by to care for our pets during dinner, took Rodger on a nice walk, and gave our kitties plenty of love and snuggles. It was clear they genuinely cared about our animals and made sure everyone was happy, comfortable, and well cared for while we were away. Knowing our pets were in such caring hands gave us so much peace of mind. We would absolutely recommend them and will definitely be booking with them again!

Jennifer was amazing and such a huge help for us during a really unpredictable time while we were waiting for the arrival of our son. She was kind enough to stay on standby for drop-in visits with our dog, and the day we got admitted to the hospital she was incredibly easy to get ahold of, accommodating, and flexible. She sent us tons of updates and pictures which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was very clear our dog felt comfortable and happy with her, and that meant everything to us. We’re so grateful for her help and will absolutely be using her again in the future!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! we loved working with erica! we will be using her for every pet sitting need. she went above and beyond for us this holiday and we are so grateful. she sent so many pictures daily of my babies and updated me on how they were doing. she gave great detail every check in on what they were doing and how they played etc. she truly loved on my babies and it made me feel so much better knowing they were getting all the loves while i was away from them!

This is the first time I’ve booked pet sitting for my girls and I’m so lucky to have found Olivia. She went above and beyond! I appreciated her offer to come over ahead of booking so we could discuss Rory and Sookie’s care, and meeting her put me instantly at ease knowing my girls were gonna be in kind and responsible hands. On the day-of, Olivia kept me up to date of her arrival time, sent pictures of my girls, and provided a comprehensive recap of the visit. My sweet but skittish Rory even felt comfortable enough to sneak out of her hiding place to grab a few bites of food while Olivia was still around! Thank you so much, Olivia! ❤️

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
