“Mia (Ching Yu) was a delight to work with and our dog loved her! She was very attentive to our dog and her needs and spent a lot of time with her during her visits either playing fetch or taking her on walks. I would highly recommend Mia to anyone who’s looking for in home care for their dog while they are away. We will definitely rebook with Mia when we go on our next trip!”

“She was wonderful with Moonie and Cobain! Great communication throughout the stay. She let me know right away when Cobain wasn't feeling well and kept a close eye on him after. I felt completely at ease having her watch them. Would book again without hesitation!”

“Very attentive pet sitter. We have e a cat that needs meds, and she was able and willing to smash up the medication and get into his food. Another of our cats was feeling under the weather and she communicated this to us and was able to care for her. Highly recommend her as a pet sitter!”

“David was exactly what I was looking for in a pet sitter. He made sure to make me feel at ease being away from my pups! My older dog was sick when I was away and he prioritized communicating with me to ensure my dog was taken care of the way I wanted. I will continue to hire him and I recommend you do as well if you want someone reliable to care for your animals. Thank You David!”

“Caitlyn responded quickly to my request and was flexible with her schedule. She showed up every day at the agreed-upon time to feed and play with my cat. Caitlyn did everything we agreed to and more! and I am very happy with her help. My cat Ralph warmed up to her right away when she came for the meet and greet. About: Hi! My name is Phinette! Growing up, I have always been a huge animal lover. As a child, I had three small dogs who I am so grateful I got to grow up with until they were in their late teens. My family rescued our current pit bull mix, Oakley, 6 years ago, who is now reaching his elderly years, as well as six cats! I truly love seeing the different personalities in each animal and finding out what makes them unique. I am great with high energy dogs including puppies, love being active, so I would love to help get their energy out with walks/runs! I am currently a Physical Therapist Assistant student and attend school Monday–Thursday, typically from 8:30 AM–4:00 PM. My availability will change throughout October and November, so I’ve outlined my schedule below to make it easier to see when and where I’m available! **House Sitting** **Through October 7:** I’m happy to travel farther for house sitting, especially toward the Chapel Hill/Pittsboro area since I commute there for school. **October 8–26:** I’ll have open availability and can travel to a wider area for house sitting. **October 27–November 20:** I’ll be completing clinicals in the Lillington area from approximately 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, so I’ll primarily be looking for house sitting opportunities closer to Angier/Lillington. However, I’m happy to travel farther for longer stays! **After November 20:** I’ll have open availability throughout December and the holidays. **Dog Walks & Drop-In Visits** **Through October 7:** Available Friday–Sunday all day, as well as evenings Monday–Thursday. **October 8–26:** Open availability every day! **October 27–November 20:** Available Monday–Friday in the evenings and Saturday–Sunday all day. I’ll be completing clinicals in the Lillington area during the weekdays, so weekday requests closer to Angier/Lillington are preferred. **After November 20:** Open availability throughout December and the holidays! I know how scary it can be to have someone you don’t know stay in your home and care for your pet. That’s why it’s really important to me to build a relationship and trust with my clients, so it doesn’t feel like a stranger is in your home. I’ll make sure your pet and your home are in the best care possible while you’re away, and I have a feeling your pet and I will become best friends by the time you get back! I absolutely love sending pictures and updates, so you’ll never have to wonder how your pet is doing while you’re gone! If you’re someone who doesn’t need as many updates, that’s completely fine too. I’m happy to send them as often or as little as you’d like. I also make sure to check my phone regularly while house sitting, so you’ll always be able to reach me if you need anything. I’m someone who actually loves detailed instructions because they help me make sure I’m doing everything exactly how your pet is used to. I want to keep their normal routine as much as possible while you’re away. I’m also a bit of a neat freak, so you may come home to your house looking a little cleaner than when you left it!

“10/10 would recommend! From the very start of our booking Ashely was respectful and professional. She met our pups beforehand which made me feel like I can go away with one less thing to worry about. Ashley was on time or early for each visit, and we enjoyed every picture update of our 2 girls. Hoping Ashley is available any time we go out of town!”

“Vanessa is an amazing person. She gives above and beyond care in watching over our fur family members when we are away. Thank you Vanessa for always taking care of Daisy and when Max was around.”

“I have booked Annalise a couple times now and my dog adores her! She is so kind and goes above and beyond. She’s helped out even when I needed last minute. Definitely recommend!”

“My partner and I went on a two week long trip and we needed someone to check in on our two cats while we were away. Caroline did a fantastic job making sure our cats were set with clean litter, food, and water and she also took the time to keep them company, play with them, and to give them treats. She was communicative, very flexible, and gave us detailed report cards and pictures! We had no worries during our travels and would highly recommend her to others in need of check-ins.”

Anna was super polite, friendly and responsive. Anna made sure to meet with me and my little furball prior to our booking. Once it was time to check in on my cat she spent time with him. I believe that my cat had a good time with her as he’s super affectionate and friendly. I will for sure be booking Anna in the future for any cat sitting services. Thank you!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
