“Kristina was absolutely fantastic. This was the first time we used a sitter for our little guy and Kristina made sure he was comfortable and gave him enough time to adjust. She was very flexible with timings as well.”
About: I have had dogs most of my life. From my childhood dog to the ones I raised as an adult. I have potty-trained dogs to use a bell to indicate they have to go out, taught them to back away from table food, and to give up stolen items. I will treat your dog lovingly and as if they are my own. I am mostly retired and home the majority of the day. The dog will go no longer than 4 hours without a potty break, and most days it will be shorter than that. Your pet will be the only one in the house with me. I block off my stairs so the dog is always very close and mostly within eyesight.
“Giselle came in clutch last minute when I had a work debacle. Was very flexible during all the shifting of the dogs drop off time and I got the pups back good and tired! Which is the way I always want to get the dogs back!”

“Our dog easily warmed up with Steph the first time she met her! Steph was great and so accommodating. We agreed to an out of town trip and had to leave early and Steph, with no hesitation, accepted our booking. She really took good care of our dog, that our fur baby went home happy that day. We will use her services again in the future!”

“Sapna's house is very clean and neat. She also has a fenced backyard which provided great opportunity and space for my dog Teddy to run around and burn his energy. It helped having another dog staying during the same time who was same age/size as Teddy so they had lots of fun together as well as playing with Sapna's girl Val. Sapna shared regular videos and updates so that keep me at ease.”

“We’re so thankful to Todd for taking such great care of Maeve while we were at a friend’s wedding. From the start, he was responsive, thoughtful, and kept us updated with sweet photos of Maeve enjoying herself. She was happy, relaxed, and in great hands. Highly recommend!”

“April took time to really make sure Beausarge got comfortable on his first visit. She went over his training commands and took him for a walk. He can be a little high needs and she took great care of him. We will definitely be using April again.”

“AnnaLisa was AMAZING with my 1.5 year old dog (and she’s a handful) right off the bat. She was patient and playful with my dog and I cannot recommend her enough. My dog came home happy and tired. I couldn’t ask for more in a sitter. AnnaLisa’ is the best.”

About: ***Please note I am only taking boarding requests for small/medium dogs and cats for NEW clients only. If you’ve previously booked a stay for a large/XL dog, you can continue sending requests. I’ve taken care of my own dogs and cats my whole life. I’ve also dog sat family members dogs as well as their cats when they’ve gone on vacation. I’m currently working full time, but 100% remote. I can take dogs potty anytime during the day/night. There’s enough time for cuddles all throughout the day! My dog gets walked at least 5 times a day. We live down the street from a park that has a walking track so they’ll get plenty of exercise. I have a medium sized crate as well as an 8 panel pen if needed. Any cat stays will be kept separate from my 2 cats till they’ve gotten used to their scent. Or if your cat needs to be kept separate the entire time that can be arranged.
“Tiago is a wonderful dog sitter. Our 7 month old bernedoodle puppy is very high energy and he is very patient and kind to her. He is obviously a dog lover. He is also very organized and always has all of her toys and stuff packed up at pick up time. We couldn't ask for a better sitter and Maggie loves going to visit him and his lovely family.”

About: My family and I love dogs. We also love cats, but unfortunately I’m allergic to them. We’ve raised three dogs over the years and currently have a 4-year-old Golden Retriever named Jax. I pretty much work from home and have a 4 year old Golden Retreiver named Jax so our routine is already made for a dog. I have a fenced in back yard. Your dog will have a playmate in Jax. I enjoy going out and playing fetch with Jax although he's not much of a fetch guy. He enjoys me faking like I'm going to chase him and then he gets the zoomies and runs around the yard like a crazy boy.
About: I know how to make dogs comfortable and make them feel like they’re being taken care of well. Lots of treats they get from me I am free to watch dogs a lot during each day of the week. Any time of the day works for me as well to watch them I have a fenced in yard. I keep my basement closed so no dogs can go down there. Mostly on the main floor with me.

“Dave watched our 8 month old puppy and did an amazing job! Just from the meet and greet we had a good feeling about about leaving our pup with him. The whole process was just super smooth. His dog Roxy is awesome and was a great playmate and companion for our pup. She is older and handled our puppy's energy well! Dave text us photos with an update. He was organized with a clean/pet safe house and seemed to really bring Milo into his home and take great care of him. We will definitely use Dave in the future!”

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Hanover Park commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
